Signs Point North – 100 Word Microfiction Short Story

I entered a short story competition that required me to write a 100 word short story in 24 hours. The story needed to meet three things, a genre (Sci-Fi), an event (Seeing a rainbow) and to use a certain word (Micro). It took me a while to find the right idea and to get it to work in a way I was happy with. But like the last time I entered something similar, I enjoyed the desire to find the story that sparked the right way for me. So, for the sake of creativity, here is 1 of the 24 rejected stories in a 100 word format..

Signs Point North

“The money or rainbows kid, which one you gonna give up?” Jesse-Bob grunts as he spits a dirty wad of saliva at Micro’s feet while pressing the blaster deeper into Carlton’s throat.
“I-It’s not th-that E-EASY!” Micro stammers as he tightens his grip on the gym-bag full of credits, while the bizarre weapon that has become a living entity inside his head tightens its hold on him.
“Sure it is RUNT!” Jesse-Bob says as his finger tightens around the trigger. Without warning the weapon ignites before anyone can formulate another uncontrollable bodily function it burns a hole through Jesse-Bob’s face.
