Trying To Contain – Unhinged Poem 2020TOO

Pretty persuasion,

dreams in the darkness given,

light up the haggard heart,

we spoke in riddles,

trying to confuse the world,

we covered the box,

and hid their lies,

while we wrote our names on the wall,

dense to the disease that was,

you smiled to be free,

lied to you and me,

I wrote a letter backwards,

so you would notice me,

but all you ever saw was a broken man instead,

caught up in this failing society,

lost in a sea of poster boys,

we called ourselves monsters,

for all the world to see!
