Masks That Stole the Shadow of Reflection
A Twisted Verse by Matthew Tonks
A glimpse inside the breaking of my mind,
A mirror showing truths I wish were blind.
I wished for something never meant to be,
Yet in the core it stayed reality.
Harboured edges carved a mark in me,
Forgiveness begged though lies refused to flee.
The darkness held me close and kept me whole,
Its quiet hunger sinking through my soul.
Jagged visions slipping through the mask,
A friendly face that turns to darker tasks.
“Now see me,” whisper puppets from the past,
Open me up—let endings bleed at last.
💬 Did this one echo?
Tell me—before it forgets your name.
