To Think Silly So

A Twisted Verse by Matthew Tonks

Silly to think the dark was mine to know,
yet something unknown stirred beneath its glow.
Those moments lost outlast the sunlit sway,
their shadows stretching further day to day.

I grieved a loss that never came from me,
watched fragile theories burn unwillingly.
Fortitude’s fickle edge refused its plea,
ending in ash not shaped by my decree.

Smile for the camera’s unblinking eye,
film wrapped in circuits where cracked futures lie.
If tomorrow were today passing by,
yesterday’s ghost would finally clarify.
