Acquired Decompression – Unhinged Poem 2020TOO

I could not sin not would not win,

a day across the oven floor that wished it was an ocean,

I saw the see that was not wet,

beneath a wave not i could not sea,

for through the day the moon shone higher than the sun at night,

    we called her name,

she did not answer for she was not dead but mute with life,

I soaked the silken dishes in meat sliced from her hide,

and in the sun when the singing was sung,

I saw her face against the earth that was once won,

    catharsis of a missing limb,

I wanted it to let me in,

but upon the form of Sinatra himself I found the wings of myself..

    surface management offending,

    polar opposites descending,

no one left to hear my cries!

I asked you not to follow,

    but you did it anyway,

    oh what a surprise,

    while mother nature,

    is getting ferocious,

    her permanent lullabies,

    what was wanting,

    but not a needing,

    sought within my lies,

    the horrors of a vision,

    plague my sleepless nights,

    demonic possessions on the rise,

    I put you pretty face,

    up against it,

    I come across it,

    in your eyes,

    shut your fucking mouth,

    like a door,

    this is my virtual,

    suicide..

“It was never meant to be anything more than what it was, and innocent smile accompanied by a wave,” he says as he turns to her pale form propped up in the chair. He reaches over with shaking fingers and gently brushes her hair from her face, then quickly empties the remaining whisky down his gullet, and lets out a desperate gasp as it burns his throat.

“S-So why bring her back here then? W-Why not leave her out there, in the big wide world, way, way away from our home!”

“B-Because I couldn’t, not her, and not out there.”

“YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO SHE FUCKING IS, SO WHY SHOULD IT MATTER WHERE YOU LEAVE HER! BRINGING HER HERE ENDANGERS EVERYONE! YOU JUST DON’T SHIT IN YOUR OWN BED CLIVE! YOU JUST DON’T!”

“I don’t see how this is shitting in my bed!” he says as he thrusts himself to his feet.

“If she wakes up, she’ll bring more complications, and you know that.”

“You don’t know what your FUCKING talking about Harry, she’s not going to wake FUCKING up! She’s dead!”

“Is she!” Harry bellows as he grabs her arm and pulls her sleeve up, revealing multiple bite wounds that trail up along her forearm. “SEE WHAT YOU’VE BROUGHT INTO OUR HOME! SEE THE DANGERS YOU’VE BEFALLEN UPON US!”

    “I-I-I, I didn’t n-notice, I-I-I…”

“Just stop FUCKING talking and get me something to tie her down with, before she rises up and kills us both!”

“I-I-I,” Clive stammers, only for Harry to slap him across the face with a thrusting open hand.

“PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER FOR FUCK’S SAKE AND GET ME SOMETHING TO TIE HER D…” But his words become caught in his throat as the woman lets out a groan and slowly lifts her head.

“D-D-Don’t move a muscle,” Harry hisses through clenched teeth as he casts a wayward glance at Clive and then back to the girl as she slowly grunts once more before opening her eyes.

“W-W-Where am I?” She mumbles as she grips her head tightly and lets out another deep seeded groan.

“Y-Y-Your safe, I-I, I pulled you off the s-streets before they could get to you,” Clive says quickly as he rushes to her side, only for Harry to grab him tightly by the arm and force him back.

“No,” he hisses all too late as the girl leaps to her feet, teeth barred.

“YOU FOOL! THEY WEREN’T ATTACKING ME! THEY WERE SAVING ME, AS I WAS THEM!”

“W-What?” Clive stammers through shaking lips.

“She’s a FUCKING feeder!” Harry grunts as he casts Clive a disproving glance.

    “B-BULLSHIT, they’re u-urban myths.”

“URBAN MYTH THIS, BITCH!” she spits as she lifts her top to proudly show off forty or more bites across her torso.

“W-We don’t want any t-trouble, o-okay! Clive here was only trying to…” before he can finish his words the power spits and splutters and then everything goes dark.

“W-What the FUCK is going on?” Clive cries loudly.

“My friends are coming to get you, Barbara!” the woman cries gleefully with a glorified cackle at its end.

“W-What does t-that even m-mean?” Harry demands quickly as he grabs the woman tightly by the arms and shakes her violently. This causes the woman’s laughter to intensify while the sounds of glass and wood, being smashed and broken come from the rooms around them.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship we share, me and those who have gone ahead, one that feeds all base levels of EXISTENCE! You see, I feed them, and they let me live my best life. B-But you, you have interfered with their food supply, and they are not happy.”

“W-WHAT THE FUCK! THEY DON’T WORK LIKE THAT! THEY’RE FUCKING ZOMBIES!”

She laughs loudly once more, “You really don’t understand anything do you?” she cackles as the doors to the room are smashed in, and the horde pile inwards.

  • 5 Minute Horror Story – Everything or Nothing – The Forth Short Story From 2020 Book One

5 Minute Horror Story – Everything or Nothing – The Forth Short Story From 2020 Book One

Wade wrestles the blade away from Lance and drives it up into his chest. They stare into each other’s eyes for several fleeting moments, then Wade pulls the blade free, sending Lance to the floor.

“LANCE! NO!” Cara yells as she rushes forward, only to have Wade tackle her to the ground. She wriggles and struggles trying to free herself, as Lance stares coldly towards them, his life seeping from within, and forming beneath his body in the form of a bloody puddle. Desperately she reaches out for him, only to have Wade pin her to the floor and force her face towards Lance.

“Watch the light leave his body through those eyes you used to love staring into, and know you did that. If you hadn’t of pushed him, he wouldn’t be lying there dying. This is what it looks like when you love someone, so get used to it!” Wade hisses into her ear with a callous grin upon his face.

“You threatened my very existence, did you think I’d just sit back and let you win!” she screams with renewed vigour, as she tries to free herself once more.

“I didn’t threaten shit, I just wanted what was mine!” he hisses as she drives an elbow into his jaw and sends him spiralling off her. In what an outsider would consider a perfectly coordinated routine, they both scramble to their feet and circle each other in dance off fashion.

“I never took what wasn’t free for the taking, and you showed no care until it was no longer there to be abused. So don’t treat me as if I am the bad guy here, you’re the one who’s at fault.”

Wade tightens his grip on the blade and sneers. “I may have become complacent, but I never stop caring for what I had. You’re an infection that’s overstayed it’s welcome, I tried to cure you, I tried to starve you out, I even cut you out, but yet you still live.”

She smiles a mouthful of rotten teeth, and runs her tongue across her lips, leaving a trail of green mucus along them. “You can’t kill what I am, all you can do is know that my existence is your fault!” she hisses.

“Every day I’ve told myself that! Every day I’ve tried to stop what I started! Every day I’ve tried to find a new way to rid my life of you, and to get some semblance back, to get my life back! But every time I keep coming back to the same answer, the same result. There is no getting rid of you,” Wade says, as he looks down at the ground, his face showing his defeat.

“That’s the spirit, you know there’s only one true way for all this to end, and it’s my wa….” she doesn’t get to finish her words as a shot rings out, interrupting her flow. They stand there in silence, staring at each other.

“W-W-What have you done?” she whispers.

“A-A-All yo-you let me,” Wade says as he drops to his knees, followed moments later by Cara, as she mirrors Wade’s movements, like a carefully coordinated dance routine…

The glass tumbles from his hand, and shatters into a million tiny pieces as it hits the concrete floor below, while Stan casts a wayward look towards Alisha.

    “Y-You d-did it didn’t y-you? Y-You k-killed ME!” he spits through saliva drenched lips.

She smiles begrudgingly and rolls her eyes. “Don’t make it sound so personal Stanley, I never intended for this to be the way our relationship dissolved, but you just couldn’t leave it alone! You just couldn’t walk away, you just couldn’t accept what was. Some girls would’ve been touch by your efforts, but no matter how many times I told you to go, you kept coming back for more.”

“BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, AND DEEP DOWN THAT SCARES YOU, SO YOU RUN AND HIDE! WELL GUESS WHAT HONEY, I’M NOT LETTING YOU RUN!” he bellows with wild eyes as he staggers to his feet while the saliva caught in the corners of his mouth froth to a thickness almost like buttercream.

“See,” she purrs as she raises her brow and an octave or two higher than before. “There you go again, stuck in your cycle while being completely ignorant of mine. I don’t love you, and I never will.”

“D-D-DON’T S-SAY THAT! Y-YOU LOVE ME, A-AND I KNOW IT!” he cries as he stumbles awkwardly towards her, only to find himself face first into the concrete floor with a face full of broken glass, and Alisha digging her knee into the back of his neck, paralysing him.

“I FUCKING don’t love you! And I NEVER will FUCKING love you! I mean look at you, you’re a drunk Stanley, a drunk chauvinistic pretty boy who lost his looks years ago, and that’s more due to your overuse of high-end recreational drugs. Had you slowed the fuck down on what you put in your arm and up your nose, you might still have a full set of teeth and the looks to go with them. But that, that ain’t the worst of it all, it’s the fact that you can’t accept rejection, you can’t accept that you’re not good enough for anyone, so you flip it inside your little head, that they’re the one who’s not good enough for you, and when that happens, you only have one card to play,” she hisses into his ear, as she grabs a handful of his hair and pulls his gaze up from the ground.

“OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE! SEE WHAT YOUR PATHETIC LIFE HAS CREATED!” she screams.

He opens his eyes and looks around the empty room before them, as tears cascade down his cheeks. “I-I-I, I don’t SEE a-anything!” he cries.

“Then,” she growls as she leans in and drives her knee deeper into his spine while tearing his head back with more force. “YOU’RE NOT LOOKING HARD ENOUGH!” she bellows loudly, as she snaps his spinal column, sending a shockwave of pain into the back of his skull in waves akin to the beat of his heart, and with each pulsating beat the world before him is filled with familiar faces, faces of those he professed his love to, all waiting for him on the other side.

  • 5 Minute Horror Story – It Started With A Foot – The Third Short Story From 2020 Book One

5 Minute Horror Story – It Started With A Foot – The Third Short Story From 2020 Book One

His eyes slowly open, as the rustlings from somewhere within his room drag him from his slumber. As his eyes slowly adjust to the darkness, he notices the thick curtains that adorn his bedroom window move ever so slightly. His heart jumps, as does he, and he rushes to the window, screaming wildly. He grabs the curtains and pulls them open wide in one fluid movement, as his heart beats powerfully in his throat, then stops as does time itself. He stares at the emptiness beyond the window, across the empty fields that run far beyond his backyard, and into the woodlands past that. He takes a stuttered breath and laughs to himself softly.

“Get your shit together Dean, it’s all in yo….” he stops in his tracks, slowly his eyes widen, and his mouth drops open in terror as he notices the window slightly ajar. He spins around desperately searching the room for any signs of movement. Finally, after what seems like countless minutes and not the few seconds it really is, he sees him.

“W-W-What the f-f-fuck?” Dean mutters as his heart picks up it’s pace once more, almost overriding all his other senses.

“Just calm down, okay.” a voice says. “I can explain everything, if you give me a chance.”

    “T-Toby? Is that you?”

Slowly Toby walks into the moonlight that shines into the room from the window, and smiles nervously, holding his arms up in defence. “I know this is going to sound crazy, but you need to hear me out.”

“HEAR YOU OUT! YOU’RE IN MY BEDROOM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, AND YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN! YOU’VE GOT FIVE SECONDS BEFORE I START THROWING PUNCHES!” Dean bellows at the top of his lungs, as he tightens his hands into fists.

“Okay, okay, I completely understand how you’re feeling right now, and believe me when I say this, if I had a choice I wouldn’t be here. But this isn’t my idea.” Toby says with a nervous laugh. “Honestly when I tell you the whole story, you’re going to find it just as funny as I did when I heard it.”

They stand there in silence for a few moments as Toby smiles awkwardly, staring at each other. Finally Dean snorts like a bull, grits his teeth together and thrusts forward, grabbing Toby as he does, and slams him against the wall.

“WHAT THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU D-D-DOO…” Dean stumbles backwards, clutching at his chest as he collapses to the ground, almost frozen in his own skin. “W-W-What’s h-h-happe-e-nnning t-to m-m-meeeee?” Dean stutters through frozen lips.

Toby stands above him with a broad smile upon his face. “You’re never going to believe the awkwardness of what’s going to happen next. But trust me when I say this, in a couple of days, when all this is over, you won’t remember any of it.” Toby says as he reaches down and pulls Dean’s mouth open wider than it has ever been opened before, then ever so slowly begins to force one of his feet in. “It might hurt a hell of a lot as well, but like I said, you won’t remember any of it. I know it doesn’t help now, but it’s something, right?”
