    Blind Segue – Twisted Prose

a single malt with a twist of lime,

deceiving ventures told with knowing lies,

a wisdom broken beneath the skin,

an unhappiness seen from the outside looking in,

    broken beyond the pointed sky,

sultry looks with payment in mind,

    we are given to fly,

words woven to facilitate an understand,

misrepresentation in all aspects of fact,

    political assassinations without any tact,

    lower-level miracles,

not magic but slight of hand,

    we give,

    we take,

    but we never are complete…

    Wicked Tone – Twisted Prose

    a writing not written,

    a wanting not seen,

    facsimile smiles,

    we harbour our fears,

    and fester our lies,

    the devil our saviour,

    a simple restitution,

    eyes on the prise,

    cum covered pillows,

    crust covered thighs,

there is a symphony of percussions,

    music only I can hear,

    the foreboding,

    the forbidden,

the end is where I begin…

“I DON’T SEE HOW ANY OF THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! I’VE SAT HERE LISTENING TO YOU TALK FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE DAYS, AND I STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY! SO WHY DON’T YOU JUST SAY IT AND BE DONE WITH ALL THESE GAMES!” he spits venomously, each word dripped in the meat that covers his ever-weakening bones.

The gale blows violently once more, sending him careening across the room and into the buildings side. But he does not stop there, instead he plummets through the plaster boards and out into the blackness that awaits outside.

“TOYING WITH YOU! TOYING WITH YOU!” he bellows whilst his laughter erupts to hysterical levels. “MY DEAR CHILD, I TOY WITH NO ONE! IT IS YOU WHO HAS BEEN TOYING ME WITH! YOU SEEKED ME OUT! YOU WANTED MY GIFT! AND THEN WHEN THE PRICE WAS PAID YOU TURN INTO AN UNGRATEFUL CHILD! PICK A LANE AND DRIVE WOMAN!”

    sand lined boxes,

    salt laced drinks,

we are the experiments of a dying disease,

    the human race,

    not run,

    not won,

a breed pushing towards our own extinction,

    bleeding eyes,

We Are Not By Association – Twisted Prose

a wayward glance towards an ending you gave me,

decided upon by a power trip,

    wholesome worthless whining,

    poisoned waters,

    lies,

    deceit,

    we gave all,

    yet you wanted something else,

    directions unspoken,

    lines drawn yet not shown,

    we are the dead walking,

    without knowledge or fact,

    a wisdom shared,

but not with those that needed it,

    pictures painted without paints,

    you are lost,

    without open eyes,

    blind,

    but so are we…

The man smiles broadly, “Is there anyone else here?”

Mitchell shrugs, and looks up at himself and Sarah who scream unheard words at each other.

“Not those two, they are not like us Daniel. They are on a different causeway, where we, we are by-products of a better time, a sweeter time.”

“A sweeter time?” he asks as he raises his brow in curiosity.

“Yes, those times in the void beneath voids. They were times grander than memories forgotten, do you remember our times together?”

Whisked Away On A Lie – Twisted Prose

harboured views of a distorted vision,

given life by a demented villain,

i waged war to the den of thieves,

    victory continued out of reach,

i taught to wield the devils sword,

    vinegar and blood,

    semen and spit,

    a solution,

    revolting,

    we cup,

    but we cannot,

i saw you suck the flesh of man,

The smile disappears from his lips, and he stares at her blankly, before leaning back in his chair and stuffing a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth. “You think this is a joke?” he asks as he drags a match along the side of its box which brings the flame to life. He stares at her with unwaveringly disgust while the matches flame licks the burnt end of the cigarette like a hungry child.

“I-I-I,” she swallows an uneasy mouthful of air that feels like churning cement, forcing her to cough and splutter with a desperation savoured for more desperate times.

Then nervously looks up at Roberto and smiles awkwardly. “S-Sorry, when I g-get carried away m-my adrenal glands kick into overdrive and f-flood my mouth with saliva.”

    “Salivary,” Roberto quips back quickly.

    “S-S-Sorry?”

“They are called your salivary glands, the glass that produce your saliva. It’s an honest mistake that anyone could make,” he says with a broad smile. “See your adrenal glands are in your kidneys, where your salivary glands are in your mouth.”
