Green Plastic Flowers – Twisted Prose

    rose covered fields,

hands open over the coffin shut,

we dance to grieve the passing of ourselves,

a kaleidoscope of unknown feelings cascading upon the last,

breathing underwater as the world falls in upon itself,

    a gage to read insanity,

    a tell to show all,

colours changing like a wave riding the tide,

    eyes blind to the waste,

melodramatic innocence ensured we keep living in a world that’s getting so small,

    mirrors replacing windows,

    doors no longer open,

    purity drawn on the label,

    a sea of insanity,

    as we protest death,

why can’t we see the joke,

that started with our right to be free…

    Painted Windows – Twisted Prose

    twisted demise,

    sutures over wounds healed,

we question when the answers are obvious,

    love the bad news,

    regret the new,

my fist was full of hate,

it found comfort in your face,

    we balance the many lies,

    trash talk to disguise,

    buried heads in sand,

    a card game without faces,

the head of the table bends the rules,

days begin when the other ends…

“W-W-WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER YOU DEMONIC BITCH!” he bellows.

She grins broadly, whipping her lips with her tongue. “I have done nothing that she herself did not ask for.”

5 Minute Horror Story – Taken To The Dog Wash – First Short Story From 2020 Book Twelve

Angelo takes a tentative step forward, only to meet its gaze with his own.

“Nice doggy,” he says nervously as he holds his hands in the air.

“I’ve been called many things over the years, but this is the first time someone has referred to me as a nice doggy! Do I look like a fucking dog to you?” He sneers.

Angelo thrusts his hands before him and shakes them vigorously. “I-I-I, I meant no disrespect, I SWEAR! Y-Y-You have to understand how utterly impossible this situation must seem for me, and how you, h-h-how you could actually exist.”

He snarls and flexes his pectoids like a bodybuilder would at competition, then smiles slyly. “Your mind is reeling with irregular fire patterns as you try to process the stunning beast before you, while deep below all that, in the heart of your being, you also know that if I am to actually exist, then you will ultimately die.”

    “W-W-Why?”

His brow furrows, and his smile turns to a grin that would put the Cheshire Cat to shame. “Come now orphan, you know what I am, WHO I am. And in all that, you know what must take place here between you and I. Do not make this moment less by denying the truth of it all.”

“I-I-I, I’m not, I just don’t understand why I must die just because you are real.”

He laughs loudly, and flexes once more, showing off the muscles that run up his spinal column and across his shoulders. “Because that is what must be, for that is what is. I have existed for a very long-time child, long enough to be etched into the history books under several different names, each with their own sordid histories. I am eternal, yet my existence is based in the realm of mortals. I must not leave a record of my true existence, for if that is done, if the world was to know the truth, the REAL truth, then it would explode upon itself like a child who climaxes when learning to masturbate for the first time. That is the reason you must die.”

“B-B-BULLSHIT!” Angelo snarls aggressively as he bares his teeth and clenches his hands into fists. “YOU ARE A LIAR! YOU SAY WORDS IN THE HOPE THAT ONE DAY YOU WOULD BELIEVE THEM, WHEN DEEP DOWN YOU CRAVE AFFECTION! YOU CRAVE ANOTHER’S COMPANY! BARE YOUR SOUL TO ME AND KNOW I WILL NOT PUSH YOU AWAY! SHOW ME WHO YOU TRULY ARE, AND I WILL SHOW YOU ACCEPTANCE!”

For moments they stare at each other locked in battle with each other’s psyche, until finally he smiles and claps his hands together in celebration. “Well done child, WELL DONE INDEED! It has been many years since one such as you, has seen through my ruse, and forced me to show my true colours.”

“I-I-I, I have,” Angelo stammers nervously with an awkward smile upon his face.

“Yes, my friend, you have seen through my lies and for that I am sorry.”

    “S-S-Sorry?”

“Yes,” he says with a wide toothed smile, “I’m sorry I lied to you, I’m sorry I mislead you to believing I cared for causality. I’m sorry, because in truth I am hungry, and it’s been so long since I FED!” he cries as he tackles Angelo to the ground and bites deeply into his neck.

We didn’t mean to hu-h-hurt you,” he says as he cradles Sarah’s bloody corpse in his arms. He brushes her dirt ridden hair away from her face and softly strokes her pale cheek, and as the tears freely run from his eyes he freezes in place, as empty eyes stare back up at him.

5 Minute Horror Story – I Wager His Forever Seed – First Short Story From Breadcrumbs To Madness 4

Salvador reaches desperately out towards the ever-fading rainbow, void of any care and want. His eyes glassy, and brow moist.

Carla glances momentarily up from the ships unresponsive control board and lets out a stuttered growl of disapproval before drawing her focus back on the crisis at hand. “Pull yourself together Captain, if we’re to save the micro verse we must detach ourselves from chasing rainbows,” she quips with quivering lip and venomous tongue.

“B-But the colours are so beautiful.”

Her eyes stare up towards him, but no words leave her lips only the colour from her once rosy cheeks.

“C-C-Captain, that isn’t a rainbow, n-not any rainbow I’ve ever seen be-before. We must get the s-ship out of here before it’s too late!” she cries.

“It’s already too late child of Rameriaz, I have taken away all that made the captain and replaced it with all that makes me,” Salvador says as he turns to face Carla, his eyes bloody and his stance almost puppet like as if invisible hands were holding him high into the air.

    “What do you want?”

He smiles awkwardly, like a baby who had just learnt how to walk but still can’t get the motor functions to respond correctly. “I want what all living things want. I want to LIVE! I WANT TO BE FOREVER!”

    “How can HE help you?”

“His seed continues on through each generation, and through each generation I will be forever.”

Carla laughs loudly, and smirks. “You don’t understand the human reproductive systems that well, do you?”

He stands there silently watching her, then his face screws up with confusion. “I see no error in my assessment, your former lover does not contradict my path. He is the creator, whilst you are the incubator. I will live on through his seed, while you will both die off.”

Carla laughs louder this time, “My former LOVER? He was certainly delusional, wasn’t he?”

    “Continue.”

    “Continue what?”

He looks at her with strained eyes, as his face loses all colour and shape. “C-C-Continue you-your words. T-T-Tell me w-why he is d-d-delusional?”

She grins broadly, “You have all the answers at your fingertips, that is, if you truly encompass all that was Salvador.”

“I-I-I,” his face screws up, his anger etched in every fold of his flesh. “I AM ALL AND EVERYTHING!” he bellows as wayward beams of colourful lights rip through flesh. “I AM THE OMEGA! I AM FOREVER!”

“You just killed your host,” she says with a tightening of her smirk and the wink of an eye.

    “T-T-T-THEN I-I-I, I WI-WILL TAKE Y-Y-YOU!” he screams.

For moments they stand locked in silence before the command console flashes violently and sirens begin screaming in their ears.

    “W-W-W-WHAT IS HA-HAPPENING?” He screams.

“How long did you exist, before we came along? How long were you drifting out in the stars?”

“I-I-I, I DO NOT KNOW,” he says softly, as the streams of light fall gently to the floor, like tails on a wild dog that has finally been tamed. “B-But it seemed like for-forever.”

“I doubt it will be compared to now,” Carla says with a wry smile as the sirens stop, seconds before the ship’s self-destruct sequence tears itself apart.

I entered a short story competition that required me to write a 100 word short story in 24 hours. The story needed to meet three things, a genre (Sci-Fi), an event (Seeing a rainbow) and to use a certain word (Micro). But like the last time I entered something similar, I enjoyed the desire to find the story that sparked the right way for me. So, for the sake of creativity, here is 1 of the 24 rejected stories in a 100 word format..
