Day 292 – The Shell – Short Story

The day was glorious, as the sun beat down, onto the family, as they splashed all around.

A day at the beach, a day in the sun, a day of adventure, a day full of fun.

Laney was running, searching for shells in the sand, while Stella her dog, was attempting to give her a hand.

She barked, and she leapt in the air like a loon, she crouched at the ready, and howled as if at the moon.

Laney laughed, she giggled with glee, as she went running to Stella, to see what she could see.

It was a curious shell, that sparkled in the sun, all the colors of the rainbow, flickering one, by one.

They looked at each other, smiling both broadly, suddenly, surprisingly, the shell moves oddly.

Laney, she shrieked, Stella let out a yelp, as the shell moved miraculously, without any help.

Slowly but surely, the shell moved away, towards the water, but Stella, wanted to play.

She barked, and she leapt in the air like a loon, she crouched at the ready, and howled as if at the moon.

Laney laughed, as the shell scuttled away, zigging and zagging, this way, and that way.

Then Stella, she pounced on the shell, landing on top, bring it to, a sudden stop.

Stella wagged her tail, she barked, and she howled, as something slowly, poked its head out of the shell.

It was yellow and red, with antennas on its head.

It had a body made of amour, and five seats of legs, with big pinches on the front two, kinda like clothes pegs.

It popped out of the shell, and ran into the sea, swimming away, until it, they could no longer see.

    SO..

Stella barked, and she leapt in the air like a loon, she crouched at the ready, then howled as if at the moon.

    While..

Laney ran, giggling away, looking for more things, enjoying the day.

Day 280 – A Day Full Of Fun – Short Story

The day was not hot, the day was not cold, when down the hill, Laney Bean rolled.

with a giggle and a gaggle, a laugh and a cackle, she came to a stop, at the bottom did she flop.

Then Stella the dog, tumbled down after, attacking her feet, to fits of laughter.

And that’s how they played, for the rest of the day, laughing, and screaming, chasing and racing, throwing their cares away.

And when it came time, for the sun to fall from the sky, and the moon to rise way up high.

They laid in the silence, Laney and her dog, until it was broken, by the croak of a FROG.

Stella LEAPT to her feet, Laney did too, and off they ran, towards the croaking, that seemed to be coming from Mum’s watering can.

A few steps away, and the croaking did stop, then out from the can, a large frog did hop.

They sat there in silence, Laney and her dog, staring quite curiously, at the large green frog.

Then, it let out a cry, that made Laney shudder, as another frog appeared, then another, and ANOTHER.

Soon they were surrounded by a HUNDRED or more, when Melvin the cat appeared with a ROAR.

The frogs jumped left, the frogs jumped right, the frogs jumped any which way, trying to get out of sight.

But they were no match for Melvin, who chased them away, into the darkness, like a tiger hunting it’s prey.

And the frogs never came back, after that day, when Melvin the cat, had wanted to play.

When Laney and Stella had, had all that fun, playing outside, in the warm, winters sun.

Day 279 – Blustering Blizzards – Short Story

It was rainy and damp, it was shakily cold, when Stella the dog, saw a sight to behold.

Twas Melvin the cat, who’d sneakily snuck, under the covers, in the back of a truck.

She howled and she hollered, she called him by name, but Melvin the cat, the spot he did claim.

He flicked out his claws, and tore his way in, while Stella the dog, continued to sing.

She sung to the family, with a bark and a howl, she sung to Dad, who let out a growl.

She dropped to the floor, and rolled on her back, she wriggled and wriggled, her way up the mat.

Then once she was sure, she was far enough away, she leapt to her feet, and continued to say.

Melvin the cat, had sneakily snuck, he was hiding from the rain, in the back of a truck.

Mum came out, Laney did too, while she sung them her song, about Melvin the cat, and what he did wrong.

Mum rushed to the door, and called out in vain, then she caught sight of Melvin, hiding in the truck from the rain.

She called out to Dad, and he came running to see, then he growled and moaned, as he banged his right knee.

Mum tried not to laugh, as Dad fell to the floor, and it was then that she noticed, the truck driver slam his door.

Mum ran out, and Stella did to, and they told the driver, what they had to do.

Then quick as a flash, the tarp was pulled back, and Melvin jumped up, ready to attack.

But Stella the dog, she let out a howl, and  Melvin the cat, ran away with a scowl.

Then Mum thanked the driver, and rushed back inside, leaving Melvin the cat, with no where to hide.

While Stella the dog, went back to her bed, and as Dad limped by, he patted her head.

Day 278 – Melvin The Cat – Short Story

With a slash of his tail, and a flick of each ear, Melvin the cat, showed no fear.

He leapt from the tool shed, onto the ground, he sneakily snuck, not making a sound.

He peered through windows, he sniffed under doors, he scratched at the board, that made up the floors.

When he was sure it was safe, and no one was around, he leapt through the cat flap, to see what could be found.

With a purposeful step, he made his way in, shooting though the hallway, and hiding behind a bin.

Suddenly there was a rush, a storming of feet, the family were racing, it was too late to retreat.

But as the minutes passed, and the commotion calmed down, Melvin the cat, courage he had found.

Proudly he pounced, with one aim in hand, to get to his prize, to take that leg of ham.

He jumped on the counter, and grabbed it with glee, but Mum gripped him tightly, for the whole family to see.

He yowled and he hissed, he spat and he clawed, but Mum held him firmly, and thrust him out the door.

All fours did he land, with a thunderous thump, he scampered away, and leapt to the fence with a jump.

He spied through the window, and made a new plan,

for this night was not over,

    and

    there

    was

    still

    ham.
