They stand there, the two of them, both poised ready to strike the other, their eyes locked, frozen in time.
“Fascinating,” a woman says, as she walks out of the shadows, looking over the two statue like men. “What did you call it again, staggering?”
“Yes, staggering, when time locks in on itself, and creates a moment frozen, like a statue of sorts, we can, interact, look, touch, even, deface, but, we cannot, unfreeze, that, my dear, is something only time controls,” a man’s voices says through the headset she wears.
“You mean they can return to normal?”
“Yes, and no.”
“That’s not an answer,” she says as she waves her hands in front of the men’s eyes, half expecting one or both of them to blink.
“It’s the answer you want, one case is recorded of the individuals coming unstuck, but time wasn’t going to let them escape easily and within moments, seconds even, time was sucked from them, and they aged years in minutes, until they were both husks, aged beyond their years, but not before the fall out of their resurrection killed everyone within a hundred miles.”
“How many times have you witnessed these occurrences?”
“We only have four recorded instances of this phenomenon, but, we suspect it’s taken place more times than that, archive records suggest another twelve instances have occurred, but, there’s no real data, or for that matter proof of these existing,” he replies.
“Well, it certainly is amazing to say th….” She stops in her tracks as she feels an electric pulse rip through her and then, out of the corner of her eye, she sees one of the statue’s blink.
