The water lapped his sides gently like the loving kisses of a mother to her child. He lets a stuttered sigh loudly escape his lips as he leans back against the enamel coating of the bath, followed by a hiss of pain as the coldness of the tub’s flesh cuts into his back as if it were the scolding hot flames of a fire, licking his flesh. After several long moments he finally allows a smile to worm its way across his lips as he lets himself slide deep into the bath’s waters while his eyes gently flicker shut.
A deathly scream startles him back into the world of awareness and he shoots up to attention, his eyes wide open and ready. The first breath that tries to escape his lungs as he takes in his surroundings finds itself caught in his throat while his petrified eyes nervously take in the dark dank world that now surrounds him. His lips quiver uncontrollably as tears gently cascade down his cheeks, and his grip tightens around the bathtub’s edges as he sees a large figure move in the darkness. Soon a pair of enormous yellow eyes meet his.
“W-W-W-What t-the F-FUCK!” he stammers, as the shape sits and watches him in silence for what seems like several long eons before it leaps forward and grips the coated shell of the bath with clawed fingers, sending splinters of enamel into the blood red liquid he now sits in. Another breath finds itself stolen in his chest as his eyes draw back wider.
“P-P-P-Please,” he whimpers, while the beast growls deeply.
“Please what, and please why?” it purrs.
“I-I-I, I don’t know a-a-anything, I-I-I, I never saw a…”
“Why do you think I care what you saw?”
“T-T-That’s why y-y-you’re here, isn’t it. Y-Y-Y-You’re here b-b-because of J-J-Johnny?” he stammers nervously, as a sea of sweat cascades down his brow.
“What happened to Johnny?”
“H-H-He w-w-was murdered.”
“Were you the one who killed him?”
“N-N-No,” he stutters. “I-I-I, I d-d-didn’t k-k-kill him”
“Then why am I here?”
“I-I-I, I DON’T KNOW!” he cries.
“Are you sure?”
“I-I-I, I FUCKING TOLD YOU I DIDN’T KILL HIM! I-I-I, I TOLD THEM ALL, A-AND THEY BELIEVED ME, S-S-SO WHY CAN’T YOU!” he spits.
The beast lets out a low laugh, “Words cannot be used to hide the truth from me, only deeds can free you of my wrath for I am not human!”
“D-D-DEEDS?”
“Yes, deeds.” it purrs. “If you can prove to me your innocence through deeds, then I will let you be free.”
“W-W-What do I have t-to do?”
“Cut yourself, and let sin flow free from within.”
“C-C-Cut myself?”
“Yes,” it purrs. “Cut yourself. Show me.”
“I-I-I, I can’t c-c-cut myself. I-I-I, I won’t.”
“Then, I will devour all you are and you will never leave this place.”
“I-I-I, I CAN’T! I-I-I, I CAN’T!” he spits.
“Then don’t.”
“B-B-But I don’t want t-to die.” he stammers as a fresh sea of tears stream down his face.
“It’s a little too late for that,” the beast purrs.
