Well wishes,
parades,
the world at his feet,
that bastard,
he’d lied to them all,
and they’d brought into his words,
traded their wasted lives,
for a dream,
a lie,
a darkness that infected everything,
when the bullet ripped through his skull,
and emptied the contents of his darkness on the wall behind him,
they screamed vengeance,
they vowed to find the one who destroyed their hope,
their hero,
little did they know,
this was what he wanted,
another lie,
another cruel trick,
beyond he waited,
silently,
at the gates of the unknown,
smiling.
