Lies Perceive The Truth – 100 Word Microfiction Short Story

I entered a short story competition that required me to write a 100 word short story in 24 hours. The story needed to meet three things, a genre (Sci-Fi), an event (Seeing a rainbow) and to use a certain word (Micro). It took me a while to find the right idea and to get it to work in a way I was happy with. But like the last time I entered something similar, I enjoyed the desire to find the story that sparked the right way for me. So, for the sake of creativity, here is 1 of the 24 rejected stories in a 100 word format..

Lies Perceive The Truth

The cylinder drops from David’s grasp and hits the soil beneath them with a dull thud. He darts a fevered glance towards the others and meets their desperate stares with his own, then looks back towards the glowing ooze that slowly seeps from within the cylinder.
“Shit!” Stile hisses through clenched teeth, as he tightly clutches Amber’s hand. “He’s killed us all!”
David’s face twists with surprise. “WHY’S IT MY FAULT! I WASN’T THE ONE WATCHING RAINBOWS AND CRACKING OPEN MICROVERSES! YOU WERE! ALL I DID WAS DROP A CYLINDER FULL OF HORSE SEMEN!”
“It wasn’t horse semen you idiot!”
