A Mismatched Agreement – Short Story

“What is real, what do we determine in OUR mind is real. That’s what this research is about, not some self funded monstrosity that will be as useful as a good hard wank!” Spencer hisses through clenched teeth as he slams an open palmed hand into the metallic table in front of him.

”You took my money without hesitation, so don’t start preaching to me. I know perfectly well what it is you’re doing Doctor Howard, and if you wish to continue tinkering on these abominations you have deliberately created from the original core study group I  supplied you with. You will happily follow my odd requests from time to time with open arms, or do I have to start destroying your so called work to help get the understanding across?”

”Had I known these stipulations would b….”

”You would’ve done the exact same thing. Let’s be honest with each other, it’s not like you had a long line of potential investors waiting with their wallets open. I am the one who is taking chances here with you, good doctor, not the other way around. Now do we have an understanding, or am I going to break things?”

Spencer clenched his hands into fists, grits his teeth together then his face drops and the fire in his eyes extinguishes. “Have it your way, but don’t expect me to stop everything, every time you call.”

“That’s where you’re wrong,” he says as he leans across the table. “I expect you to not only drop whatever vile deeds you are knees deep in, but I also expect you to be eager and ready when I do! Now once more, but this time with feeling dear doctor. How long will it take you to build me a bride?”

    1. My friend it is never too late, and I have been away from the blog space, spending time with my daughter before her turbulent year of kindergarten starts in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed for all, keep well my friend.
