    Day 163 – Daily Prompt – Millions – 50 Word Story Expanded

“It’s easy, you either sign it all over to me, or both of you get a bullet, to the head!” She says, as she holds the rifle towards them.

“Marion, this is ridiculous! Put the gun down, and let’s talk ab…” But he doesn’t get to finish his sentence as a shot fires from the rifle and hits him squarely in the centre of his chest, he stands there for a few long, agonising moments, as the shock slowly sets in, the girl hiding beneath the beds doona begins to scream erratically. His eyes, slowly look up at her, as his mouth drops open, then, he collapses to the ground, stone cold dead. She fires another shot, it rips into the doona, and the girl hiding underneath it lets out one last wretched scream, then, falls silent, as a large, red stain, begins to grow quickly withing the doona and across the sheet. Seconds pass, while she stands there, admiring her handiwork, then, the door bursts open and he runs into the house, sweat dripping from him, his heart racing a million miles an hour, his eyes, desperately searching the hallway, but, as soon as he sees her, and the smoking rifle in her hands, he knows, he’s too late.

“What did you do?” He yells as he runs towards her, she swings the rifle his way, and he throws his hands up in the air, but, quickly drops them again, knowing, they’d do little to shield him if she’d fired. “M-M-Mother, what the fuck did you do?”

“Don’t you dare talk to me like that! I did what that lying sack of shit deserved, what all pieces of shit like him deserve,” she says, spitting a mouthful of yellowish saliva onto the floor. “I sent him and the whore he was fucking to be judged by their maker.”

“Fuck Mother! Have you lost it? What the fucking hell were you thinking? Couldn’t you just leave him?”

Her lip trembles, and her grip on the rifle tightens, “We had a prenup, I’d get nothing if I walked away,. And his new floozy, she’d end up with everything, and I couldn’t let that happen, not after all these years, not after everything I went through, I wasn’t going to lose it, not without a fight!”

“Don’t you see, don’t you realise, you’ll lose it all, you’ll get nothing, and you’ll end up going to prison, for what?”

“For everything, we’ll make it look like a home invasion, all you need to do is be my alibi, and we’ll share in all of it, together!” She says.

“You’re crazy Mother, it’s over, you’re done, I’m calling the police and nothing you can say will stop me, I won’t be a part of this, I won’t be part of your plans!”

“Don’t be a fool Jeremiah, we can salvage this, all of it. Just remember what I taught you?”

“What you taught me? When did you teach me anything, Mother? All you ever wanted was Daddies millions, and that’s never going to happen now, so, put down the gun, and go!”

She lowers the rifle, slowly, as a tear runs down her cheek, “I-I-I, I knew you’d say that,” she says softly, before raising the rifle again, and firing.

Day 163 – The Hunt – 50 Word Story Expanded

He looks up, his heart beating furiously in his chest, taking a moment to catch his breath, then, he smiles, “As many times as it takes us, until we track him down, that’s how long.”

“It’ll just keep moving, six months Cole, six months and we’re no closer than we were when we started all this shit!”

“Bullshit, we’re getting close, the fuckers panicking, can’t you sense it?”

“All I see is more innocent lives lost, that’s it, we’re not getting closer, we’re doing shit all, cleaning up his mess.”

“You’re wrong Wesley, we’re close, closer than we’ve ever been before,” he says as he wipes the knife’s blade on his trousers and slides it in a pouch dangling from the side of his belt. “You see, he’s choosing random victims now, he doesn’t have the time to select his prey like he did before, so we’re fucking with his mojo, and soon, we’re going to be standing in front of him, then, well, then we’ll gut the son of a bitch.”

“What if you’re wrong? What if he’s playing with us, baiting us into a trap?”

“He’s not smart enough, you’ll see, we’ve got him on the run, you can take my word on that one,” he says as he gets to his feet, wiping his blood drenched hands on the side of his pants. “Besides, even if he was, he’d be so weak, we’d be able to overpower him fairly quickly.”

“You seem sure of yourself?” A voice says from the darkness of the street beyond.

They both turn quickly, as a man walks out of the darkness, he smiles and nods his head towards both of them and then, looks over at the torn, bloody, dismembered body of the young girl that lies on the ground before them.

“Such a pity, she was, such a sweet girl,” he says, turning his attention back to Cole and Wesley.

“Is it game time already?” Cole says, gritting his teeth, and pulling his knife from its pouch once again.

    “Game time? I don’t follow?”

But, Cole does not reply with words, as he charges at the man, swinging his knife viciously out in front of him, the man in black moves quickly, easily out of harm’s way, gripping Cole by the throat and pulling it back powerfully, a popping sound can be heard, and he goes limp, crashing to the ground in a heap. Where he stays, silently, void of life. The man looks up at Wesley, who stands, frozen in place, sweat pouring from his forehead.

“Hello Wesley, it’s been some time since we stood before one another, how’ve you been?”

    “Fuck you!”

“Fuck you, really? Is that how it’s going to be? Like we’re enemies and not, brothers?”

“You fucking killed Cole, what do you expect me say, he was my friend.”

“Wesley, we don’t have time from friends, you know that, after all we..”

“Fuck you Porter, fuck you and all you’re little fucking children. I’ve been, we’ve been cleaning up your shit for the last two weeks, Cole and I, we had something. A bond, one that I didn’t have to fucking manipulate him for, and you just show up, doing you’re fucking self-centred shit, like you always do, and kill him, without checking first. He was marked, with my mark, you piece of shit.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I-I-I-I, I didn’t realise you two were that close.”

“Of course you wouldn’t, because you never pay attention to anyone else except yourself, so why don’t you just go and get in the car, Daddy’s going to be pissed when we get home.”

“But I don’t want to go home, I wan….” He doesn’t get a chance to finish as Wesley is upon him and slaps him across the face.

“I said, get in the car, this is over.”

“I knew it was wrong,” he says, looking at his blood stained shoes. “But, the fucker deserved it.”

“Really? Tell me,” she says, he looks up, into her eyes, and swallows.

“He was a jerk, he wouldn’t let me in, he was big noting himself to all the girl, thought he was something special. But he bleed out, quick too, like all the others,” he stops and looks back down.

    “Others?”

He sits there silent, his mind racing, he tightens his hands into fists, digging his finger nails into his flesh, he bites down on his lip and looks back up. “He wasn’t the first.”

    “How many more?”

    “Eight.”

    “Eight?”

“That’s what I said, you asked how many, I said eight.”

    “And, their bodies?”

“Gone, somewhere they’ll never be found.”

    “Who were they?”

“Jerks, like him, they all deserved what I did, they were all scum.”

    “Tell me about them?”

    “Why?”

    “Because, I want to know.”

He sits there, staring at her, contemplating his next move, his eyes dart around the room quickly, then, back to her, and he smiles.“Rosa, she was my first, I went through high school with the bitch, always acting like she was better than she actually was. Her family were nothing but gutter trash, but, she acted like they were royalty. I ran into her one night, while she was waiting tables at Big Bevs Tits and Arse, she’d lost her shine, but she was still pretentious. So, I waited for her shift to finish, poor bitch didn’t even see me coming. I took her down and dragged her back home, gutted the bitch under candle light, then, once I was done, I poured the melted wax over her, and it rushed into the holes I’d carved, and then, I fucked her.”

    “Why?”

“Because it got me fucking hot.”

    “And the candle?”

“I haven’t worked for six months, so, there’s nothing to pay the bills with.”

“What else did it make you feel?”

“Alive,” he says, with a broad grin on his face.

“And that’s why you did it again? For the thrill?”

He slams his fist onto the table, “This is not a psych evaluation, I’ve been to those, what do you want? Why all the questions? What are you hoping to achieve?”

“An understanding, that’s all, you got sloppy, I want to know if it’s because your ego became over inflated, of you just lashed out because you needed to, your cycle has become stalled, hasn’t it?”

    “My fucking what?”

“Your cycle, the system you follow to select your kills, it’s obviously become stalled, and this Hermon Daniels, unfortunately bore the brunt of your anxiety.”

“What sort of cop are you? The gory details get you off? I’m not saying another word until you give me my phone call, I know my rights!”

She laughs, “Really? You think I’m a cop?”

Once again he stares at her silently, lost for words, “W-W-Who the fuck are y-you?”

“Finally,” she says, as she leans onto the the table. “It took you long enough to ask the one question you should’ve ask in the fucking beginning. Although, I’m pretty sure you’re not going to like the answer,” she says, with a wild, broad grin.

  • Day 156 – Sunshine – Short Story

    Day 156 – Sunshine – Short Story

I never said I was anything other than what I was. I didn’t fake it, I didn’t pretend, I was me, that’s all. But, some fuckers out there had a problem with that, Carter was one of them. When Jane in mail told me what he said, I couldn’t hold back and marched right up to the sniveling piece of dirt and shoved my fist in his face. He didn’t know what to do, I drove another punch into his stomach. That’s when Bernie, from accounts, tried to pull me away, so I drove an elbow into his face, his nose exploded in a violent display of blue, black and red, and he hit the ground screaming in pain, as I turned back to the pansy little fucker Carter.

“Do we have a problem?” I said, grabbing him by the throat and slamming him against the wall, I watched as his rosy cheeks faded into a pale white, his eyes sunk in their sockets and began to well up, blood ran from his nose as one side of it started to blow up like a balloon.

    “D-D-Damon? W-W-What? No, mate we don’t have a problem.”

“Then why’re you spreading shit around here about me?” His eyes looked panicked, I could smell a sharp tinge of piss hit my nose, and I looked down to see a large, dark patch growing on the crotch of his pants.

    “N-N-No way…”

I punched the prick in the stomach again, harder this time, it winded him, bad, and he struggled to catch his breath as I slammed him back against the wall again.

“Don’t fucking lie to me shit stain! What’s your fucking problem?”

“D-D-Damon, you’ve got it all wrong, I swear, I-I-I meant nothing by it, Norwiche and I were just joki..” I didn’t let the piece of maggot riddled shit finish what he was going to say, I slammed his face into my knee, his body went limp and he fell to the floor. I’d amassed quite a crowd at this stage, that’s when I caught Mister Norwiche’s eyes, staring out from the back, the old bugger had a smirk on his face, like he was proud of himself, that wasn’t going to last long.

“What’s your beef?” I yelled, pointing towards him, the room parted, and he stood there, embarrassed, like he was naked or something, I saw him swallow nervously.

“Now, Damon, let’s all just calm down, no one else needs to get hurt.”

“I think it’s a bit late for that, don’t you? So, tell me, what’s your beef?” I said as I stormed towards him, he looked left and right, took a step backwards, and pressed up against the glass wall that separates his office from the gutter trash thinks we are. He stood there, frozen in place, like he was hoping to just blend in with the decor, like a fucking chameleon or something.

“Look Damon, it was a joke, don’t let something silly, that meant nothing, endanger your employment.”

“Sorry? Are you threatening to fire me?”

“Don’t be absurd, I’m just sayi…” I drove a left and then a right into the old fuckers face, dislodged two teeth, and his left eye popped out of its socket. He crashed to the ground in a heap, unconscious, and I just stood there for a few moments, as I caught my reflection in the glass, I straightened my hair, readjusted my skirt and touched up my makeup before turning around. Everyone took a step back, I guess they thought I was going to turn on them next, but as long as they kept their mouths shut, I had no problem with any of those pathetic fucks. They had all lost their passion a long time ago, where me, well, I was just finding mine.

Day 142 Daily Prompt – Test – 50 Word Story Expanded

“I don’t know, should we really be down here?”

    “Don’t tell me your scared?”

“What? Who, me? No way, I’m just saying, do we really need to be part of the Delta Chi’s?”

“Of course we do, if we aren’t part of a sorority we won’t get accepted. Anyway, you’re the one who talked me into this, remember?”

“I know, but that’s before I realised they still did this shit,” she says as she readjusts the nightlight strapped to her head.

“Say what? Am I talking to Sasha, or some brainless doppelgänger who’s taken over her life?”

“Don’t be like that, I know you warned me, I know, okay. But I thought with mum being a former member I would just breeze in, but this shit, this is…” she stops in her tracks as something splashes in the water up ahead, they both turn to each other, blinding one another with their lights.

“Fuck,” she says as she quickly turns away, her light passes across the tunnel walls, briefly shining on a dark, shadowy figure as it slowly creeps towards the girls, Sasha screams.

    “Did you see that?”

    “See what?”

“That!” She yells, shining her light where the figure stood, but there’s nothing in sight, except miles of dark, deserted tunnel.

“What did you see? What was it?”

“How the fuck should I know Clare, I only saw it for a second, and then it was gone, I’m going back, we’ll apply somewhere else, I-I can’t do this,” she yells as she turns and runs back down the tunnel, she can hear Clare calling her name, but continues to run. It’s only after several minutes that she comes to a stop, realising she no longer knows where she is, the unspeakable happens at that moment as her light flickers, and then, goes dead.

“Fuck, fuck, FUCK!” She screams as she stuffs a hands into her jacket pocket at pulls out a phone and a knife, but the uncontrollable shaking of her hands results with with them both slipping through her grasp and plummeting into the water below. “Shit!” She cries as she plunges her hands in the water, feeling desperately around for them, as she does, she feels something grab her shoulder, call it instinct, panic, or fear, but whatever it is, it takes over and she spins around, driving the knife into whatever it is.

The tunnel lights up, Sasha shields here eyes in surprise, it takes a few moments for them to adjust, and, as she lowers her arm she is confronted by the house leader Marisa and the rest of Delta Chi, then, she stares down at the quivering, bloody, Clare and drops the knife.

“I-I-I didn’t realise, I thought it was that, thing, I-I-I, my god, Clare, please help her,” she screams looking up at Marisa, tears running down her face.

“Don’t be a cry baby Sasha, you passed the test, you’re in. That’s what you wanted, wasn’t it?”

Sasha looks up from her blood covered hands, tears running down her face, “This wasn’t a test, it was murder!”

She laughs, “It’s only murder if they find a body, now, eat.”

    Day 142 – Rewards – Short Story

“Please Norris, don’t do this, don’t listen to their words, I don’t want to be part of it all, I don’t want my family chosen, just let us go, please!” He yells, looking up into the eyes of the gigantic man who stands before him. His hands clench into fists, and his eyes tighten sharply, almost squinting, as he targets his prey.

“I’m sorry Sammy, but I can’t, you know what will come of it all, you know what it means to be chosen,” he says in a low, course voice, pulling back a fist, he fires towards him, driving the powerful left into Sammy’s head, sending him crashing to the ground, his eyes lifeless, his stare void, a pool of blood quickly forms beneath his head, and her screams break the silence. Norris turns to the woman who sits bound by her hands and feet like a wild animal not far from Sammy’s lifeless corpse, and he smiles.

“Don’t worry sweetheart, it’s going to be all over soon,” he says as he takes a step towards her.

“PLEASE!” she screams as he grabs her by the hair and pulls her to her knees.

“Please what? Don’t fucking think for a second you can please your way out of this shit, you and Sammy started all this, you both forced the hand, you made this choice easy, and I have to make sure I do it, or them things will, and if they do, well, you’ll suffer a lot more than what I’ll do to you, you know that don’t you?”

“PLEASE NORRIS, JUST LET ME GO, I’LL LEAVE TOWN, THEY’LL NEVER KNOW YOU LET ME GO, PLEASE!!”

“I can’t do that, you know they’ll know, and then it will be me and mine who will pay, and I ain’t putting my family in danger, not for you, not today, not ever.”

“DON’T BE AN ARSE NORRIS, HELP ME!”

“I fucking can’t!” he yells as he slaps a solid left across her face, sending her to the ground, her whole world spins around like a merry go round, her vision flashes in and out of focus as does her hearing. She tries to mutter words, but all that comes out is gibberish, and she feels Norris hands slowly close around her throat.

“I’m sorry, but, none of us have any choice, you know that, I wish to god I didn’t have to but if I don’t,” he says as he tightens his grip, squeezing her throat, she tries to suck in air, she tries to clumsily fight him off but, to no avail, and evenly, her lifeless hands fall to the ground and he release his grip.

“Bravo,” a voice from behind says, followed by slow, sarcastic clapping. Norris clenches his hands into fists, and stares to the ground.

“It’s done, I’ve punished the sinners, like it was mandated, like I was told.”

“And what a fine sheep you are, following the shepherds orders so well, so precise, you have done well Norris, you and your family should rest well tonight, knowing that they are chosen for the next cycle.”

Norris spins around, his body trembling, “No, I did what you asked, I punished the sinners, the non believes, please, not my family, I’ll do whatever you ask of me, but please, spare my family.”

“The choice has been made, this is a reward Norris, you should be happy, the next cycle is what we all, as a community work towards, don’t make the same mistake Samuel made, don’t make a choice that will only end in suffering.”

He unclenches his fists and his head drops towards the ground, and he falls to his knees, he feels Sammy’s blood soak into his trousers, and he looks back up into Father Jacobs’s smiling face.

    “No suffering?”

“Norris, the next cycle moves us past suffering, and into the next phase, so don’t be afraid my son, for they are with us. Let them be your guide and you will know what lies out there, past what you see in your flesh suite, past what these eyes allow you to see, into, another world, one, where you will be rewarded.”

Day 135 Daily Prompt – Generous – 50 Word Story Expanded

“Here,” he says holding out a fifty dollar note towards him, the mans eyes light up. He leans forward, confusion, excitement and fear all run across his face in matter of seconds, he nervously reaches out a hand. His eyes dart from the note, to the strangers face, and then, back to the crisp fifty dollar note. He gently takes it in his fingers and grips it as the stranger releases his.

    “Why?”

“Why? Because, you called, that’s way,” he says, he sees a flash of teeth, white, bright teeth from within the man’s shadowed face as he smiles.

    “I called? I don’t understand?”

The stranger laughs as he pulls a packet of cigarettes from his coat and offers him one, which he quickly takes. He runs it underneath his nose, then, with a strong whiff, he draws its toxic, wonderful fragrance into his face, leaning back against the alleyway wall and allows himself to smile.

“Of course you understand, you see, I wouldn’t be here if you didn’t,” the stranger says, as he lights his own cigarette, the flame of the match lights up his face, his skin looks soft, un-blemished, like that of a teenager, but his features are that of a man in his late forties.

    “I-I-I, I really don’t understand.”

He smiles, “Derek, I can call you Derek, can’t I?” He says, Derek nods his head slowly.

“H-H-How do you know my name?”

“I’ll take that as yes, how long have you been living on these streets? Six, seven years?”

    “Six.”

“How many times have you wished, prayed, begged for a miracle?”

“Everynight,” he says softly, as his eyes begin to well up with tears.

“Well, tonight will be the first night where you won’t, as I’m here because your call, your pleads, your cries, are to be answered. In other words, welcome to your new life,” the man says, suddenly the alleyway around them transforms into a dining room. A plethora of food lies on the table, food he hasn’t seen for years, and every dish, everyone, are his favirouties. He turns to the stranger and cannot hold back his tears any longer.

“I don’t know how I can thank you, everything you’ve done today will not be forgotten,” he says, looking up at him, tears running down his cheeks.

“I’m not being generous here sport, this is what you’d call, a building experience for everyone,” he says with a uncomfortable, wry smile.

    “A, building experience?”

The stranger laughs, “This is your new life, but, to hold onto it all Derek, you will be doing things that, you’ll wish not to remember. Things that will bring suffering to others, things, that, well, let’s just leave it at that, for now.”

“I don’t understand, you said you were sent from God, why would he ask things of me that would do wrong to others?”

“Derek,” he says as he smiles, his wide, white, toothy smile once again. “When did I say God had sent me? For, he, that sniveling, pathetic, scum fucker, was not the only one you called to, you also, called to me.”

Day 135 – Take Me – Black Label Short Story

“I’m sorry, I suck at this,” he says as he pulls his trousers up and quickly sits back down, she smiles and jumps on his lap, giving him a kiss on the nose.

“You’re silly, have I told you that today?”

“Once or twice,” he replies as his cheeks go red.

“Well, make it three times,” she says as she grabs his hand and shoves it up her jumper, his hand shakes and she kisses him on the nose again. “Grab hold of my boob or so help me, I’ll pull you pants down again,” she says with a giggle, he lightly places his hand over her breast, and he can feel her nipple hardens underneath his palm, and he pulls it back, she grabs his hand again and she shoves it back onto her breast, firmly this time. “That means I like it, like when your guy down there goes hard when you look at all your porn mags.”

He blushes again, and pulls his hand away, “Stop it,” he says as he pushes her off his lap and stands, she giggles.

“Your hard now,” she says as she grabs the top of his jeans as rips them down, along with his pants, he quickly covers himself and pushes her away, but she gets to her feet and tackles him to the bed, he tries to wriggle his way out of her hold but she drives a knee into his arm and pins him to the bed and quickly puts her mouth over his hard member and he lets out a groan and explodes in her mouth, she keeps bobbing her head up and down and he wriggles and twists and turns and then screams out again and empties another load in her mouth, and she pulls away, giggling as she wipes her mouth and he lays there, staring at the ceiling, as another quiver of ecstasy runs through his body.

“It’s never felt like that before,” he says through gasps.

    “Good or bad?”

“Amazingly good,” he says with a laugh.

“See, I told you that was going to be way better than your hand,” she says proudly.

“It was like, I can’t explain it, I think for a moment I felt my brain actually move.”

“It got me wet, which brings me to our next lesson,” she says with a smile as she lifts her skirt. “You ever just licked an all days sucker?”

“What do you mean?” he says as he forces himself up on his elbows.

“I mean, have you ever just licked one, and not took a bite?”

“I guess so, I don’t really know, but what’s that got to do with this?”

“Everything honey, because if you bite it, I’m going to punch you in the balls,” she says with a giggle as she straddles his face. “Now you want to work your way around the entrance and up, around the inner flaps, until you find my clitoris, and once you have me nice an…” she lets out a gasp. “Well, honey, you’re a fast learn….. Oh honey,” she says as she closes her eyes, and curls up her bottom lip, and bites down on it.

“It’s cold,” she says, gripping herself tightly, and letting out a cold shiver.

“It’s meant to get colder,” he says as he snaps the twigs over his knee and adds them to the small pile on the ground.

“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”

“When I was a kid dad took us camping all the time, he made sure we knew how to survive, if we had to,” he says with a smile as he starts stuffing dried moss and leaves into the sticks.

“You’re a lot more handy than you let on.”

“I like to keep a surprise or two hidden away for emergencies, to impress the ladies.”

she laughs, “You don’t need to worry about trying to impress me any more than you have, these last few months have been amazing, I-I, I think I’m falling for you.”

Flames leap up from within the sticks and he smiles again, and sits back, looking at her from across the small camp fire, “Me too.”

“Me too? The girl just said she loves you and you say, me too,” a voice says from beyond the camp fire light, out in the darkness. He quickly leaps to his feet and spins around, holding out a knife as she quickly scrambles to his side.

    “Show yourself!” He yells.

A tall, raven haired woman steps out of the darkness, her skin white, her lips blood red and her eyes dark, almost completely black, like pools of oil. “There’s no need for weapons, as you can see, I am no threat.”

    “What do you want?”

“I could ask the same thing, you are trespassing on my land.”

“Your land? This is a national reserve, we’ve got permits,” he says as he darts a look at his bag and then back to her.

She smiles and laughs, “Permits mean  nothing to the bear, or the wolf, or the eagle, your words on paper are nothing to me, you have entered my land, you are now my prey.”

“What the fuck are you on?”

“What’s wrong with her eyes?” She whispers into his ear, the woman laughs once more.

“There is nothing wrong with my eyes dear, they are evolution, I am what you will all one day become,” she smiles. “Well, not you two.”

“What the?” But she does not answer, not in words anyway, in a flash of movement she is between then, knocking the woman to the ground and hoisting the man high into the air.

“It’ll only hurt for a moment, well, that’s what they tell me anyway,” she says, running a fingernail along one of the protruding veins in his neck before biting down. He gasps for air as her teeth pierce the fragile vein, and his blood rushes out, into her hungry mouth.

  • Day 128 – The Dark – Short Story

Day 128 – The Dark – Short Story

The lights flicker and he feels her grip tighten around his throat, he struggles to push her away, but the strength she displays, is not fitting of someone her size. He struggles for another breath, and feels his throat begin to crumble underneath her clutches and then the black and white pockets of light erratically begin exploding in front of his eyes, and then, nothing, total, utter darkness. For what seems like forever he stands there, in the darkness, no pain, no worries, no anything, he knows full well that he’s either unconscious and dying, or dead, but whatever the current circumstances are, they will all end the same way, with his death.

“You shouldn’t have crossed her Roc, you should have done what she asked weeks ago instead of played the shit hand you were dealt,” a voice says from out of the darkness.

“I don’t need you running me through what I did wrong, anyway, after what happened to you, I wouldn’t take anything you said as gospel, more like that choking feeling you get in the back of your throat when you walk into the toilets and some piece of shit has laid cable a mile long in the shitter and not flushed it properly, or wiped his hands and you’re looking at your own hand, you opened the door with and you realised there’s shit on it because the disgusting piece of trash didn’t even wipe or clean his hands.”

“I came all the way here to bring you in, and this is how you treat me, like the enemy! I didn’t think we were on bad terms when I checked out?”

“You and me were always on bad terms Linney, ever since we were kids, so don’t come here trying to act like you’re here to make amends for all the shit that happened when we were both in the land of the living and breathing, just tell me what’s the next step? Where do we go from here? Downstairs?”

Linney laughs, and walks out of the darkness, dressed in a dirty, torn, black suit, he smiles a bloody smile.

“Downstairs? There ain’t no downstairs Roc, there’s only one place we all go after we bite the big one, and it’s magnificent, you’ll love it, truest me.”

“Then why do you look like shit?”

Linney laughs again, “If I looked like how I do now, you’d never recognise me, so I dressed in the old meat suit for you, help you feel calmer with the next step.”

    “What next step?”

“Well, it’s the hardest part of it all, the one that we’ve all got to get past before we can move on to the next stage,” Linney says as he places a hand on his shoulder and squeezes, “Roc, you’ve got to bite it.”

    “What? I’m not dead yet?”

“Nah, not yet, actually, not by a long shot. That bitch, she’s keeping you alive, transporting you somewhere right now, where she’s going to keep you for a few weeks, maybe months and she’s more than likely going to torture the fuck out of you, just to make an example to everyone else not to cross her, and then, maybe, she might kill you, or worst case scenario, for you anyway, because hey, I’m already dead. Worse case, she might just toss you back on the street, and well, that opens up a whole other ball game. But let’s not talk about it, let’s talk about what we’ll do once you’re on the other side…..”

But Roc doesn’t here anymore of his words, as he stares off into the darkness, his mind trying to comprehend what is going on, and then he feel it, the pain, and light suddenly breaks through the darkness and he finds himself bound to a chair.

Day 121 Daily Prompt – Sandwich – 50 Word Story Expanded

“This is it, this is the one,” he says as he slams the sandwich down in front of her.

“Sure, like you haven’t said that at least fifty times in the last three days.”

    “This time I mean it.”

“You’ve said that as well,” she replies as she rolls her eyes in their sockets.

“Just try it, trust me, this one will take out first place for sure, and then, we’ll be set for life.”

“It’s just a sandwich competition for christ’s sake Jeremy, it’s not like they’re going to pay you a millions for it. The winner just gets their sandwich on the menu for a few months, that’s it, you spaz.”

“Trust me, this sandwich will turn heads, fill stomachs, and most importantly, be our ticket out of this hole!” He says as he shoves it in her face. “One bite, I swear this is the last time, if it isn’t as good as I know it is, I’ll stop.”

“Okay, okay, but this is the last time, after this, I don’t want to hear about this stupid competition again?”

“I promise,” he says as she takes a bite and begins to chew, her eyes grow wider and wider, her cheeks glow as blood rushes into them and her heart pumps faster and faster in her chest. “Its good right? Best sandwich you’ve ever tasted?”

“This isn’t a sandwich, this is two pieces of bread with heaven shoved between them! How did you, a never has been, come up with a filing so mouthwatering?” She asks as she takes another enormous bite.

He smiles as he leans in towards her, “First, I cut Jerry’s throat.”

Her mouth drops open, “Y-Y-You k-k-killed Jerry?”

“I know, I know, it was an accident, bu….”

“How in the hell do you make an accident like that? For fuck sake Jeremy, what the hell are we going to do?”

“It’s okay, no one needs to know, we just don’t say anything and if we’re asked we act like we don’t know anything, in the end it will seem like he just took off.”

“Are you insane? Do you really expect me to lie to cover your arse? I won’t be a part of it, I just won’t,” she yells as she throws the sandwich onto the table and rushes to the sink, grabbing a glass and filling it with water. “I can’t believe you Jeremy, I just can’t,” she says as she greedily swallows the water and fills the glass again.

“Mickey, you’ve got to understand, by the time I realised what I’d done it was too late, and I didn’t want to waste the meat. So I did the only thing I could think of, and really, what better way to dispose of the body, than sticking it in the mix,” he says as he stares at the half eaten sandwich, before looking over at his wife.

“You could’ve at least told me before I had a fucking bite, you jerk!”

“I know, but you would’ve tried it, and I needed you to,” he says as he walks to Mickey’s side and clutches her hands in his. “I’ll throw out the rest of the mix, I’ll make a new one, I’ve got the formula now, it’ll be okay, I promise. You just have to keep this one little secret for me.”

The door to the kitchen crashes open and a little girl runs in, tears streaming down her face, “Mummy, Mummy,” she yells, grabbing her Mickey by her legs. “I can’t find Jerry, he’s not in his cage, you have to come help me find him, he might be hurt or worse,” she says, Mickey looks at him, as she strokes her daughters hair, he feels her anger rip at him like a knifes blade.

“It’s okay honey, I’m sure he’s fine, lets ALL go out and see if we can find him.”

“I really need you to open your fucking ears and take in what I’m about to say. Do you think you can do that Betty?” He says as he leans across the desk towards her. She slowly nods her head, as the remainder of the class quietly giggle to themselves. “Are you all finding this funny?” he asks loudly, the giggling stops and he storms to the front of the class room. “Let’s see how funny you think this is, by the end of tomorrow, I want a ten page essay on the rigors of cheating, what the benefits and negatives are, and an in-depth discussion on one or several lies you have told over the last three years. Failure to complete this assignment will see you fail this class.”

“You can’t be serious?” a voice yells out from within the students.

“I’m serious Mister Wilkinson, deadly serious, if you all think that this is all about joking, all about relaxing, well then, I have news for you, this is about learning, not what you want to learn, but what I want you to learn. Now, I suggest you all get started, and Mrs Tyson, I’ll see you outside,” he says as he marches towards the door, she quickly scrambles out of her seat and rushes out the door, he follows her once she is out, slamming the door behind him.

“What in the hell do you think you’re playing at?” He growls.

    “Sorry?”

“Don’t you fucking do that to me ever again, do you hear?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about sir, honestly.”

“Don’t stand there and lie to me like that, do you take me for a fool, we had a deal, an arrangement that was mutually benefiting, or so I thought, if I realised all you were after was wiggle room, I would never of put myself in such a position.”

“I still have no idea what you’re going on about, what deal?”

“The deal, you’re the one aren’t you, you and that piece of slime you call a boyfriend, you’re the ones who sent me the video, don’t play stupid, I know it was you.”

“I think, whatever’s going on, you’re barking up the wrong tree, I d…”

“Don’t fucking lie!” he yells as he shoves her against the wall. “I know it’s you Vanessa, I recognise your voice off the video.” He watches as the blood drains from her face and he smiles. “I fucking knew it, I fucking knew it was your voice, you and that rat bastard Bender.”

“Fuck you, you want the whole school to see what you do when you’re not standing in front of a class room of students? Do you want the principal to see you and his wife?” He takes a step back, and she smiles this time. “All hot air are we sir? Why don’t you remember who has control of the strings, before you find yourself out on the street, sir,” she says with a wry smile.

    “You don’t understand, you couldn’t, you can’t kee…”

“I’ll keep doing whatever I want, and next time you try to bite back doggie, I’ll punish you,” she says as she spins around, opening the door and marching back into the class room.

  • Day 121 – Retrospect – Short Story

    Day 121 – Retrospect – Short Story

Steve stares at Jason for some time, before he finally says something that could be understood as words.

“So let me get this straight, just so I know what you’re saying I understand, you’re a cybernetic android that was sent back in time from the year twenty forty-nine with the task of protecting me from an impending attack that would happen sometime in the past, or my future, am I with you so far?”

“Yes, yes, we have already agreed upon that part, several times in fact,” Jason says.

“Okay, don’t blow a fuse, literally,” Steve says with a giggle. “Now this thing sent back to kill me from the future, you don’t know when it will attack, you just took a guess and came back as early as you could in the hope you had enough time to stop this, whatever it is, from killing me?”

“That’s correct, without the proper equipment we could not pin point the exact time that the line diverted from the original time line, all we could confirm was that you had been killed and so I was sent back, to ensure your survival.”

“Right, so, I’m a pretty big deal to the whole future and shit? Like John Conner from Terminator? I mean your no Arnold, but you are anatomically correct, I’ll give you that, and you can use it all, but, do you have cool lines, like ‘I’ll be back!’?”

“Your importance to the future, is, in my opinion, is not that sort of importance, you are important, but not to the survival of the world or anything.”

“What? You mean I’m not the saviour of the human race, I’m not John Connor?”

“No, in fact, you’re quite annoying, to the point that Ronald jumped into the time stream just to remove you from the picture.”

“What? What the hell, who’s Ronald, before you said it was some unknown assassin, now you’re calling him by a name?”

“Yes, I may have lied to you a little, you see, the truth is you’re not that important, but Benny thinks you are, to him anyway, that’s why he sent me back, to stop Ronald from killing you in the past, before you two meet.”

“Okay, so who the hell is Benny?”

“Benny is who you refer to as, John Connor, he’s the leader of the human resistance, a great man, a visionary, without him the human race would be extinct by now, and he’s the reason I’m here, saving your arse.”

“I must be important if this great leader of the human resistance seems to think so.”

“Yours his lover Steve, some trashy, obnoxious piece of trailer trash he took a fancy to and apparently can’t live without, that’s why he sent me back to stop Ronald from killing you, but unfortunately he made one mistake when he sent me.”

“What was that?” Steve says nervously.

“He didn’t realise that we were lovers as well,” Jason’s says as he grabs Steve by the bare arse cheek and squeezes it.

“I thought you were going to say you wanted me dead as well,” he says with a sigh of relief.

Jason laughs, “I said were,” he says with a wicked smile.

“Oh fuck, did we have a messy break up?”

“Not as messy as it’s going to get from here,” Jason says as he pushes Steve off the bed and onto the floor.

“What are you going to do?”

“Well, right now, I think it’s time to take out the trash once and for all.”
