Day 152 – The Roundhead Prelude 11 – It Knows, No End

“Powerful stuff, I like how it twists and turns its way through reality, quite a clever concept, it could really work in a weekly episode format,” Jacob says as he looks up from the tablet at Suzan, she leans back in her chair, looking up at the ceiling with a smile on her face.

“I like the concept, a writer’s story that goes haywire and kills the writer and the artist that brought it to life and then erupts over mankind as it makes its move to control the world. Apparently they have another six chapters to post, but I really think we should make a move now, while we have the chance, before Netflix, or someone else gets in on the action, offering money that we can never match…

“You’re kidding me?” He says as he rolls around on the bed, the phone pressed firmly to his ear.

“Why would I kid you? It’s true, it’s everywhere. God I can’t believe you haven’t heard, it’s  like all over the news and social media, haven’t you seen any of it?” She says with a giggle.

“Nah, I’ve been on a Netflix binge for the last twelve hours.”

“What the hell could you be watching for that long?..

“So what, you think it’s him?”

“We’ll know more once we get the fabric carbon tested, but, I think we’ve found him,” he says with a beaming smile. “Point the flashlight over here Mortimer, there seems to be an entrance to another room, obstructed by some of the artifacts.”

    “Another room, are you sure?”

“Yes, yes, I’m almost certain, and I bet you’re thinking the same thing I am, aren’t you?..

  • Day 138 – The Roundhead Prelude 8 – Your Sin Within

Day 138 – The Roundhead Prelude 8 – Your Sin Within

**This takes place after chapter one of The Roundhead and before chapter two**

“I’m telling you it’s true, Stevie, who used to bunk with Sammy and Spade, he shared it, and they scrapped his remains off the wall of the library. I KID YOU NOT!” he says as he takes a hit from the bong.

“Dude, you’re so messing with me, if that’d happened I would’ve heard about it by now,” the other boy says as he reaches out for the bong. “Feltz, I didn’t invite you over so you could take it hostage dude, pass it on?”

“Fuck you Andres, I brought the stash, I can hold on as long as I need, just wait your turn.”

“I paid you for it, you just delivered it and sat the fuck down, either pass it or fuck off!”

“Think your panties are choking your balls,” Feltz says as he takes another toke on the bong and passes it over to Andres, just as the door swings open.

“Dudes, you’re not going to believe what just happened!” she yells as she rushes in the room.

“Shut the door!” Anders and Feltz scream out in unison.

“Oh, shit, sorry guys,” she says as she slams the door and sits quickly down. “Brian Weller was just found torn in half in his room.”

    “No shit!” they both say.

“It was the Roundhead,” she says as she grabs the bong out of Andres hand and quickly stuffs the cone full and take a toke, and passes it back, blowing the smoke into the centre of the circle. “They said half of him was hanging out the window and the other half was hanging on a hook on the back of his door, and the word ‘Roundhead’ was smeared in blood across the wall.”

    “Bullshit!” they both say.

“No bullshit, Maguire said five minutes before he was found, he shared the story on Facebook and the next thing he was dead, I think it’s true.”

“That’s what I was just telling Andres,” Feltz says as he slaps him on the arm. “See dude, I told you!”

Andres takes a large toke on the bong and passes it, with shaky hands, to Feltz. “I-I-It’s got to be bullshit, it’s j-j-just some advertising scare campaign,” Andres says as he coughs.

“Some campaign, why don’t you share it and see,” she says.

    “Why don’t you?”

    “Because I’m not stupid.”

“Why don’t we all share it and see what happens?” Feltz says as he takes a toke on the bong and giggles.

“Fuck off,” she says as she grabs the bong from him and stuffs the cone again and takes a deep, long toke, before passing it to Andres.

“I’ll do it if you do it?” Andres says, looking at Feltz.

“I’ll do it if Carver does it,” he replies, they both look at Carver and she stares at them both as the weed begins to hit.

“Okay, we all do it together,” she says as they all pull their phones out and place them on the ground.

“Pass the phones around, we each do the others, so we all know it’s fair,” Andres says.

“Okay, done,” Feltz says as he grabs Carver’s and hands his phone to Andres, who then passes his to Carver.

“Where do we go to read it?”

“Go onto Weller’s page, he was the last one who shared it,” Carver says. They all quickly bring up their Facebook pages and find the shared post and all look at each other.

    “On the count of three?”

“Okay, so on three or after three?” Andres asks.

    “On three?”

    “Okay, on three.”

“One, two, three!” Feltz yells as they all press share, and sit there frozen, as their eyes shoot around in their heads, searching the room. After a few moments they all collapse to the ground, laughing hysterically.

“Dude, that was c….” Andres says as he sits back up, and freezes in fear, “Oh fuck guys!” he mutters as he stares into the dead eyes of a young girl, sitting in the centre of the circle.

“What, you forget where you hid your sta…..” Carver says as she looks over and sees the girl, Feltz sits there with his mouth open and his eyes wide as the girl begins to speak.

“The beast made a deal to break free of its cage, but had to wait for the world to come of age, and now that time is at hand, as one can easily reach across the land, and touch a thousands more, allowing the demon to pass through the door, to our world and feed on the souls of the many, as it breaks its way through, can you hear it, can you feel it, can you say it, then say it, say the Roundhead,” and then she disappears, they all slowly look around the room at each other, and Feltz lets out a nervous laugh.

“That was…” he doesn’t get to finish his words as a massive foot stomps him into the ground, like a bug hitting a windscreen, the other two sit there, frozen, Feltz’s blood splattered across them, and it lets out a low, gravelly growl.

Day 131 – The Roundhead Prelude 7 – Shed Your Skin

He looks up, across the table, into his friends eyes, who waits with anticipation for his response, and he hands his tablet back.

“Well? What do you think, scary as hell wasn’t it?”

“No,” he says as he leans back in the booth. “It’s lame, I could write a better story than that and I can’t write.”

“What? Are you for real? It was intense, didn’t you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when it first showed up?”

“What? Toby, are you serious? Lines like ‘appearing and disappearing, like a poorly animated cartoon.’ Were so sub-par, actually, it was worse than sub-par, in fact, I won’t even rate it, that’s how bad it was.”

“You’re so full of shit Sawyer, I saw your eyes, you felt it dude.”

“You wish, it was trash, this guy is a total looser, and his story sucks.”

“Whatever, over six million likes and still climbing says different,” Toby says as he swings the tablet back around and places it in front of Sawyer. “Read the comments, everyone loves it, it’s a hit, this guy’s probably going to make a shit load of cash from it, it’ll probably be a movie before the end of the year, and then, you’ll think differently!”

“No I won’t, it’s shit, and I’ll prove it!” he says as he pulls out his phone and quickly opens up his Facebook app, flicking through the latest post of his news feed until he finds a link to the page that’s been shared by one of his friends and presses the share button, adding the message, ‘Does anyone else agree with me that this is a crap story?’ And presses the post button, he looks up at Toby, smiling. “There, we’ll see how many people agree with me!”

    Toby laughs, “You’re a dick!”

“So are you,” he says as he gets up from the table.

“What, you going home to cry?”

“No fucktard, I’m going for a piss,” he says as he walks to the back of the café and into the male toilets, he stands in front of the cubical, whistling to himself, before he shakes off and turns around to wash his hands. There, standing a few feet away, looking directly at him, is a young girl, her eyes look like black pools of nothingness and her skin pale, and grey. He feels a small charge of electricity pulsate along the hairs of his arms, and a cold chill run down his back.

“Think you took a wrong turn honey, the girls is that way,” he says pointing towards the door.

“From the words you read its call is heard, burned on your soul now is its word, through the sins of the man and his whispered words, comes the best, comes the demon, on the wings of birds, it wants nothing more but to feed on us all, so be weary, be worried, for it heard your call, you know it, you feel it, so say it with me, say The Roundhead, The Roundhead, The Roundhead and see.” And then she disappears. He feels whatever was left in his bladder, run down his leg as the lights in the small room flicker and explode, leaving him standing in darkness. His mouth drops open, as he stares at his reflection in a mirror above the sink in front of him, he feels the urge to run, to scream, but nothing works, all he can do is watch, as it’s massive, hulking form slowly leans over him, and he feels its putrid, hot breath, on the back of his neck.

Twenty seven years on the outside, twenty seven years of living a life on borrowed time, the headlights flash past me and I shield my eyes, I know, too much description? Well, I’m not paying you to read this so why don’t you just piss off if it’s not working for you. The car comes to a stop and she gets out, all legs, miles of them, I swallow, she looks around the empty car park and we lock eyes, only for a moment, but in that time she smiles and marches towards me.

“Your Phelps?” she asks, the words slide off her tongue as if they were dipped in gold and encrusted with diamonds, I’m in love, pity I know she won’t reciprocate the feelings…

“You don’t get it do you? I can tell Sil, it’s written all over your face,” she says, Sil looks back down at the phone and then back to her and smiles.

“Not really, it’s scary, but it’s not really, my thing, I guess is the best way to put it,” Sil says as she hands the phone to her.

“Then you’re man,” she says with a giggle. “I fucking loved it, I mean, I really fucking loved it, it’s got me so fucking horny after I read it, that I slipped into Mary’s bed, and we made out!” She says excitedly.

    “You, and Mary?”

“I know, I know, it’s been like, going to happen for ages, but I didn’t think either of us would ever work up the courage, and then bam! I read the story and was so fucking turned on, that I thought, shit, this is it, this is the time we finally get it on.”

“That’s awesome, maybe now I can finally stop hearing about how all you want to do is hook up with her,” Sil says with a laugh.

“Shut up! It’s so fucking awesome, so yeah, I can’t believe you don’t like the story!”

“It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just not my cup of tea.”

“Dullsville right here, but I get it, you’ve got to like the genre, and you’ve got to have a good imagination,” she says with a laugh.

“What are you saying?” She says as she throws a pillow at her.

“Nothing sister, you’re just not a book person, but I’ll definitely shout you tickets to the movie when it’s made.”

    “They’re making a movie?”

    “There’s no way they couldn’t!”

“I guess, if it’s as good as you think,” she looks at her watch and back at her. “Anyway, I’ve gotta go, Doctor Tate’s class starts in ten minutes, and I don’t wanna be late,” she says blushing.

    “You’re still banging him?”

“Shut up Steph, its more than that, we’re in love.”

“If the school board found out it wouldn’t be classed as love,” she says as she imitates riding a horse and begins smacking her own butt cheek.

“I’m nineteen and he’s thirty-one, in the eyes of the law we’re both legal, so it shouldn’t matter. Anyway, he doesn’t pay special attention to my grade, he’s fair, and makes sure my marks show that.”

“Whatever makes you happy sister,” she says as they hug. “Just know, when it comes out, and it will, I’m always here for you,” she says, Sil gives her a final smile before quickly exits the room, and Steph turns back to her phone and presses the share button on the story.

“Fucking shazoom!” she says out loud as she throws her shirt off, steps out of her shorts and walks into the shower, it’s then that she gets a tingling feeling running all over her body, she turns her head, looking straight into a set of cold, black eyes and screams, jumping behind the shower curtain.

“Whoever you are, you need to get the fuck out of my room now! My roommate and her boyfriend are going to be back any minute, and he plays for the schools rugby team, so I wouldn’t wanna be here when they arrive!” she yells, she can see the girl slowly, bizarrely move forward and reach out, grabbing the shower curtain, and ripping it away. They stare into each other’s eyes for what seems like hours, and then, the girl’s head tilts to the side slightly, and she beings to speak.

“Tides of blood wash into shore, as its feeds its thirst but still wants more, we cast our vote, we share its name, we deny our fault, we deny our blame, but our sins flow deep, within our soul, for that is what it seeks, that is what it stole, so if you dare, so if you might, call its name, but prepare for a fright, for it’s already here, waiting for you, so say it, so call it, call The Roundhead, The Roundhead, The Roundhead, I do.” Then, she disappears like a light being turned off, and that’s when Steph hears the sound, like fingernails running along a chalkboard.

He sits on the toilet, his eyes glued to his iPhone, moving quickly down each line as he nervously reads the story, as he gets closer to the ending, his eyes begin to slowly grow wide with wonder, and anticipation. His mouth slightly opens, a sting of drool drops from it, and runs down his chin, he quickly tries to brush it away with his shoulder, he freezes, and takes a quick, deep breath in, holding onto it as he reads the last few lines of the story, letting out a nervous laugh as he presses the share button and begins writing a comment in the box.

“Sammy are you done in there yet?” a woman’s voice calls from the other side of the door.

    “Just a minute Mum, almost!”

“Well hurry up, you’ve been in there for almost ten minutes, remember there are other people who need to use the toilet besides you in this house!”

“I know, just a minute,” he yells back as he presses send on the comment and places the phone on the ground as he quickly wipes himself and flushes the toilet, he pulls his jeans up and stuffs his phone back into his pants and opens the door, his mother is nowhere to be seen.

“It yours!” he yells out, but she doesn’t reply, “Mum, I said I’m done, it’s yours if you want it, although you might want to wait a minute!” but she still doesn’t reply, he walks into the bathroom and half-heartily washes his hands and makes his way to the living room. “Mum, I said I’m done, it’s your….” His words trail off as he walks around the corner and into the living room, where his mother stands, her eyes lock with his and then, slowly guide his towards a pale, flickering image of a man, his eyes black pools of nothingness. Sam feels his body become ridged, tense, frozen, the hair on the back of his neck stands up as the man looks over at him and beings to speak.

“From words said and read, more join its collection of the dead, as it harvests each soul, deep do they sink into its hole, you fear it, you know it, for it has a name, you read it, you spread it, and now your life does it claim, your family now suffers as it comes for you all, so say it, so speak it, for its answered your call, you know its name, you know what will be, so say it, so speak it, say The Roundhead!” and then disappears, his mother slowly looks over to him as the lights in the living room explode, bursting violently, like the forth of July, and then, she  begins to scream as Sam feels a towering figure slowly rise up from behind him. He sucks in a deep, long breath and tightly closes his eyes, as he feels something wet, warm, and sticky drip onto his shoulder, and he slowly turns his head, peaking out of one eye.

“Dare to share? What the fuck’s that supposed to mean?”

“It’s like its slogan, you know, just do it, the taste of a new generation! Shit like that, you know, a catch phrase.”

“Okay, right, I get it now, dare to share. It’s what they want everyone to connect with their story, right?”

“Now you’ve got it sunshine, how long did that take?” She says as she leaps off the couch, a huge smile on her face.

“Leave it alone,” he says, faking frustration, badly, she grabs him by the back of the head and kisses him deeply.

“I still love you, even if you’re a bit slow,” she says, a smile beaming from her face like the midday sun on a sweltering afternoon, his cheeks go slightly red and he smiles awkwardly.

“So, where the hell did you find this?”

“Duh! Where have you been? It’s everywhere, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, fuck, it’s even all over the news on Channel Thirty-One and Sixty-Six,” she says as she pulls out her phone and quickly brings up her Facebook app, diving on top of him. “Look,” she says pointing to several shared images of the story.

“So what’s the deal? Is the story any good?”

“How should I know, you know I don’t like reading, it’s just, boring.”

“Give it here then,” he says as he tries to grab her phone from her, she pulls away and topples off of him and crashes onto the floor, flat on her back. For a few moments everything stops, neither of them move, and then she lets out a groan and he breathes a sigh of relief.

    “Are you okay?”

“I’d be fine if you wasn’t such a jerk,” she says, pouting her lips.

“You suck,” he says as he throws a pillow at her, suddenly the lights flicker and begin exploding around the room until they are left in darkness.

“What the fuck just happened?” She says as she scrambles to her feet, the image of a baby giraffe learning to walk is one that he has used many times to describe her awkward, long legs and short body.

“It must’ve been a power surge, pretty big one too, if it knocked out the lights.”

“That didn’t just knock out the lights, it blew them fucking up, do you have a torch?”

“It’s in the middle draw, underneath the oven.”

“Not the sort of night I had planned, but no power leaves us little opti… DEREK!” she screams from the kitchen.

“What? What the fuck’s wrong?” he yells as he rushes into the kitchen, to find her standing in silence, staring at a small girl who stands a few feet away, her eyes closed, her skin, pale, grey almost and something that looks like blood, running from her mouth.

“Are you okay little girl?” Derek says as he slowly walks towards her, nervously reaching out, she looks up at him, her eyes open, soulless, black pools of nothingness stare into his soul.

“’As you travel along this road, everything around you will become slowed, as you watch the darkness sucks you into its wheel of hate, you’ll come to understand that this is much more than your fate, and the only light that you will see, will be at the end of your tunnel, but you’ll never be free!” She screams and then like the lights before, she flickers, and then, disappears.

“W-W-W-What the fuck was that?” Derek says, before they the smell hits their noses, the smell death, decay, rotting flesh, and then, a low, inhuman growl comes from something fierce behind them and they feel it’s warm, wet breath on their backs.

She rips the headphones from her ears, throwing them across the room, inadvertently pushing her laptop away, and sending it crashing to the floor. Frantically, she feels around for the switch to her lamp, her heart beating furiously in her chest, she gasps for air as the light flickers on, placing a shaking hand on her forehead, and the other on her chest, she sits like this for a minute or more before finally, letting out a nervous giggle.

“Holy fuck,” she gasps as she reaches down and picks up the laptop and readjusts the screen, letting out a sigh of relief as she sees it’s undamaged, her eyes scan the screen, and she bites down, on her bottom lip as she slowly moves the mouse cursor over the star, and presses it.

“Holy fuck,” she repeats again moving the cursor over the share button, and allows it to hover there for a few moment, the, tightly closing her eyes as she presses it, and lets out another giggle. The lamp beside her flickers violently, she turns her head to the side, and stares at the globe, watching blue forks of electricity dancing around inside it, then, there’s a popping sound, and the light bursts, the glass casing of the light shatters into tiny fragments. Quickly, she turns her face away in an attempt to shield it from the glass and stares into two soulless, black, dead eyes, belonging to a pale, motionless boy, no older than her, for mere seconds, they stare at each other in silence, and then, his mouth slowly opens, as he begins to speak.

“We read the words that hides its curse, bridging the gap for it to transverse, as we give it a body, we give it a form, we taste it, we smell it, we bring on the storm, within the words we call it by name, we share it, we pass it, then our soul it does claim, so say it with me and join us in sin, say its name for it will begin, Roundhead, Roundhead, Roundhead!” The boy says, he voice distorted, as though he was underwater, pitched like fingernails along a chalkboard, and then, he is gone, to be replaced by the smell of stench and decay, of death, she sits there, frozen in fear, unable to scream, unable to move, as it appears out of the darkness and moves towards her, his large, clawed hands twist, and reach for her, as it lets out a low, bloodcurdling growl.

“You don’t know what you’re missing out on, this is like next level mindfuck stuff, I’ve got to send you the link, trust me it will change your mind on this sort of stuff,” he says as he quickly changes the tab to his browser and shares a link to the blog with her, and moves back to Skype, but instead of the Susie on the other end, it’s an empty room.

    “You still there?” he says.

“Yeah, what’s wrong? I can’t see you anymore, is your connection playing up again?”

“No, everything seems okay, did you get the link?”

“Yeah, but I’m not going to read it.”

“Come on, you have to, it’s like crazy cool, it sucks you in like you wouldn’t believe, but you’ve gotta put some headphones on and play something creepy, it really sets the mood. I’ve already read it like three times and it just keeps getting better, especially if you play Goblin’s Suspiria track through some headphones with the lights turned out, makes it super fucked up.”

“I’m not going to read it,” she says.

“You have to, its only like five minutes long, what’s the worst that can happen?” the screen begins rolling and a static line of interference rips though the screen as if something was trying to break through from somewhere else and he can just hear her reply, but her words are choppy and don’t make any sense. “Susie?”

A young Asian girl appears in the room on the screen, her face pale, littered with pulsating veins, her eyes, black, dark, he jumps aback in fright and crashes to the floor, and then, she is standing in the room, with him.

“We yell and scream as it takes us down, to its pit of despair, never to be found, we join with the rest and we power the beast, as it feeds on those who come to the feast, sharing it’s words, delivering its name, we pass on the curse to all who remain, so say it with me and soon you will see, so say what is said, and be one with, The Roundhead!” and the girl flickers away, like a candle being blow out by the wind, that’s when he sees it, as it places a cold, wet, blood soaked foot on the ground before him.

Day 99 – Ghosts Of Forever – Short Story

She looks over to Bennett, and grips his hand tightly, he squeezes back in return and forces a smile, but his eyes tell her a different tale, one filled with uncertainty. But she didn’t expect anything different from him, for the past two days all he’s done is try and talk her out of tonight’s venture, but she hasn’t budged, and to his credit, he kept his promise, and came along with her. She turns slowly towards an older gentleman who sits at the opposite end of the table and tightly grips hold of her other hand. His grey hair recedes as it gets closer to the crown of his skull, his jet black eyebrows hang over his eyes, which remain tightly closed, and the moustache of his goatee quivers due to his lips trembling as he mutters sentences under his breathe, she feels his grip slowly begin to tighten, and lets out a small grimace of pain. His eyes shoot open and the room’s temperature drops quickly, her eyes widen in disbelief as she can not only see her breath in front of her, but she can feel the thickness of it in her lungs each time she breathes in…

Day 95 – Private Session – Black Label Short Story

She places her phone on the table and stretches her arms in the air and lets out a long, drawn out yawn, before pulling the blanket off from around her legs and walks over to the small bench that makes up the better part of her kitchen and picks up a strawberry from a plate and stuffs it in her mouth. She grabs the plate and quickly settles herself back down on the couch, opening up her laptop that sits on the table. She types in an address in the browser and waits for a few moments as the site come up before she logs into the live cams website and sits back, having another strawberry from the plate as she waits. Which isn’t very long, as an icon at the top of the screen flashes, and she leans in and smiles.

‘You’re back :)’ comes up on the screen.

“I told you I would be,” she says with a smile…

Day 89 – Hello, Officer – YouChallenge Short Story

He looks uncomfortably into the rear-view mirror, at the car behind him, it’s red and blue lights flash violently and he swallows a mouthful of air, it moves down his throat like a rock and he shuffles in his seat as the officer gets out of the vehicle and slowly makes his way towards him.

“Is this your car sir?” the officer asks.

“Yes, yes, did I do anything wrong, I didn’t think I did anything wrong, I was…” he says quickly until the officer interrupts him.

“Please sir, I’ll ask all the questions around here, you just need to answer the questions, not write a book, now, can I see your licence?”…

  • Day 89 – Caged Heat – Short Story

Day 89 – Caged Heat – Short Story

It was Tuesday, I think, I’m not really sure anymore, but let’s say it was Tuesday when she first showed up, looking like she had just walked out of a Victoria Secrets catalogue, all hot and tempting. I’ve never been one to back away from anything, and she, was not going to be the first, so I grabbed my lunch from the cafeteria and sat beside her, holding out my hand and introducing myself. She smiled and said her name was Jenny, with a little pushing I found out she had just moved here with her parents from the mainland, apparently her dad had taken a new job and forced the whole family to move down here with him, I could tell she wasn’t happy. She had to uproot her life in her final year of high school, leave all her friends and come here, to live, knowing no one. She wasn’t the nicest person I’d ever had the pleasure at meeting, sharp and rude, but not too rude, I mean, I got all that out of her in just one sitting. She was uppity though, I mean I couldn’t blame her, she was a fish out of water and apparently I was the first person besides the teachers who had even bothered to talk to her. I said it was because she was hot and a lot of people didn’t know how to act around hot people…

Day 73 – Blood Drunk – Short Story

He moves through the streets like a wrecking ball, crashing into everything and anything that’s in his way, until eventually he crashes into a garbage bin and tumbles hopelessly to the ground in a heap. He lies there in a daze for a few moments before he notices her standing there, watching him in the shadows as he pulls himself up onto all fours.

    “Enjoining the s-show?” He slurs.

“I wouldn’t call it much of a show, more like white man go boom,” she replies in a thick European accent…

“I’m telling you this is the hottest thing that is going to come out in a long time, you have to get on the ground floor or you’ll miss out!” He says excitedly.

“I don’t know, it looks a little strange and I’m not really sure there’s such a strong market pull for this sort of stuff like you seem to think, the only thing it’s got going for it is its name.”

“Bullshit, I could call it a turd and it would still make shit loads of cash,” he says as he pushes a pile of papers across the table. “Read these reviews and tell me you can’t see money…

Day 65 – Dance Off – Short Story

As the song comes to an end the crowd stop dancing and all turn clapping vigorously towards where the band, Mars Rox and The Turtle Men stand.

“You’re all too kind!” Mars Rox says as he lets loose with one of his trademark, knee wobbling smiles and a wink of the eye. “We’re going to take a small break and will be back in ten minutes or less, and then my wayward, hip, rockin’ friends, its dance off time!” The crowd cheer with delight, as wolf whistles and screams of ‘Rox’ fill the room until generic music blares out through the speakers and Mars and his band shuffle off stage and through a side door to the back area…
