A Fool And His Gold – 100 Word Microfiction Short Story

I entered a short story competition that required me to write a 100 word short story in 24 hours. The story needed to meet three things, a genre (Sci-Fi), an event (Seeing a rainbow) and to use a certain word (Micro). It took me a while to find the right idea and to get it to work in a way I was happy with. But like the last time I entered something similar, I enjoyed the desire to find the story that sparked the right way for me. So, for the sake of creativity, here is 1 of the 24 rejected stories in a 100 word format..

A Fool And His Gold

Davis bellows with unadulterated anguish as he watches the rainbow swallow Sarah whole.
“Tried ta warn ye. Tried ta get ye ta separate fact from fiction inside ye micro brain, but ye a fool Davis McParish. Ye a fool, and ye kin be fools too!” McLeod spits with fiery spirit.
“B-B-But I don’t understand. I-I-I don’t get it? H-How is it possible?” he says as he turns his pale clammy face towards him. “W-W-We h-had you beat!”
McLeod wickedly grins broadly and sticks his hands down his pants, then begins fondling himself gleefully. “A leprechaun’s treasure doesn’t always mean gold!”
