  • Day 66 – Taylor Who – Short Story

Day 66 – Taylor Who – Short Story

You know the old saying wrong place, wrong time, it actually exists, I kid you not. Sometimes, your just minding your own business, trying to get through the day and make sure you’re doing the right thing, and something, somehow goes completely the wrong way, honest to whatever religion, god, devil, demon or the like, you want me to swear to, I will because it’s all true. If you don’t believe me, that’s your decision, but I’m going to tell you my side of the story and you can decide. It all started just a measly two hours ago when I got home from work and the wife was entertaining a couple of her work colleagues, before they went off to some end of year function they had. Now I guess you’ll start to understand the more I tell you my side of things, but I’ll give you a hint, it involved too many drinks and the fact my wife hadn’t paid attention to the boy downstairs for at least a month. Anyway, I walked in the door, expecting no one to be home, and was surprised when I heard voices coming from the lounge room, there the four of them were, dressed up to the nine is their hot little numbers and my wife, to be honest, looking the hottest of all. I casually walking into the room and gave a her a kiss and said hello to the rest and excused myself as I had to get out of my dirty clothes and get cleaned up, by the time I reached the bathroom I was hard, and knew I needed to put a stop to the thoughts going around in my head as soon as possible, so I jumped in the shower and gave the beast a slogging. That’s when it happened, the door opened, as we only had one toilet in the whole house and it was in the bathroom we quite often made the dash while the other was in the show, but this wasn’t my wife, this was Taylor, one of my wife’s work colleges, she rushed in the room and quickly sat on the toilet. I knew Taylor sort of okay, but not this well, she said sorry, but she was busting and Kim said I wouldn’t mind if she quickly used the toilet. Now here I was, dick in hand, almost at the vinegar stroke and trapped behind the curtain, I muttered it was okay, and waited for her to finish. For five fucking minutes she sat on the toilet, five whole minutes while my erection screamed at me to give it the relief it so wanted, but I dared not touch him in case Taylor overhead. Finally she pulled the toilet paper loose and flushed the toilet, as she did she tumbled forward and ripped the curtain down, falling into the shower with me, she reached out to stop her fall and inadvertently grabbed hold of my pulsating cock, and that was enough to push me over the edge, I exploded all over Taylor’s face and that’s when my wife stumbled in, the look on her face said it all, I mean, it looked wrong, and I knew it, she gave me the look of death and stormed back out of the room, leaving me standing there, I’ve tried to explain to her what happened, so has Taylor, but she won’t listen to a word I have to say, but you want to know the worse thing about it all, worse than my wife walking in and seeing Taylor holding onto my cock and her face covered in my cum? I really fucking enjoyed that orgasm.

Day 65 – Dance Off – Short Story

As the song comes to an end the crowd stop dancing and all turn clapping vigorously towards where the band, Mars Rox and The Turtle Men stand.

“You’re all too kind!” Mars Rox says as he lets loose with one of his trademark, knee wobbling smiles and a wink of the eye. “We’re going to take a small break and will be back in ten minutes or less, and then my wayward, hip, rockin’ friends, its dance off time!” The crowd cheer with delight, as wolf whistles and screams of ‘Rox’ fill the room until generic music blares out through the speakers and Mars and his band shuffle off stage and through a side door to the back area…

  • Day 64 – Mirage – Short Story

    Day 64 – Mirage – Short Story

Teddy Salvador crashes into the sand, exhausted, his lips dry and his skin burnt. He looks up desperately towards the small oasis and forces himself to his feet and stumbles forward, frantically, until he falls to the ground again, this time, into the muddy, wet ground of the oasis. For a few moments he lies there until he suddenly feels a sharp slapping against his face and then a voice.

“Get off her you vermin, get off her!” the voice yells.

Teddy’s eyes shoot open and he slowly raises his head, looking, searching around the oasis for the owner of the voice, but sees no other person in sight, and lies his head back down, into the wet mud, staring straight into the eyes of a large, pale green frog, who stares at him intensely.

“I said, get off her you vile fiend!” The frog says, Teddy lies there not knowing what to do, how to react, and really, no energy to do anything, he opens his sore, cracked, blistered mouth and tries to say something, but nothing comes out, he swallows a mouthful of air and tries again.

“Are you talking to me?” Teddy says weakly.

“No, I’m talking to the other guy who stumbled onto my land, destroyed my home and killed my wife!”

    “W-W-What? Killed your w-w-wife?”

“Yes, my wife, you bumbling buffoon, so get off her, for all that is holy, get off her NOW!” The frog yells as it attacks Teddy again with several vicious slaps of its tongue. He back hands the frog away with the little energy he has and gets to his knees, looking down at the frog that lies lifeless underneath him, its stomach split open and its eyes hanging out of its head. The other frog leaps to its side and cradles it in its arms.

“I should’ve listened to you, I should’ve never brought you out here, I should’ve  just been happy with you instead of this crazy dream I had,” the frog says.

    “I-I-I’m sorry, I didn’t see her, I never meant….”

“Your kind never means to do anything, so why don’t you get the hell off my land and leave me to bury my wife in peace you bastard!”

“I-I-I just want some water, and then I’ll leave, I’m so sorry, please.”

“You kill my wife, destroy my home and now want water? Leave before you die here child,” the frog says.

    “I-I can’t, I’ve been walking for days without water? I need water, I-I can’t leave without some, I’ll die if I don’t.”

The frog lays his wife’s body on the ground and turns to Teddy, “You’ll die if you…” But he doesn’t get a chance to finish his sentence as Teddy stomps him into the ground and twists his foot into the wet soil, as he lifts his foot the frog’s twitching, twisted remains stick to the sole of his boot, so he wipes it off on the grass with a frustrated, exhausted sigh.

“I’m sorry,” he says softly as he knells in front of the small pool of water and grabs a handful and splashes it over his face, the coolness of the water is refreshing at first and then there is the pain, horrible, stabbing, ripping pain across his face and hands. His hands shake nervously as he raises them to his face and he sees hundreds of small tadpole like creatures ripping, biting and clawing at him and as he tries to scream, thousands more erupt like a water fountain from the pond, and towards him.

  • Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Five – Act I

Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Five – Act I

Once the world of TV was enjoyed from a seat placed in front of it, then the TV screen advanced in to a hologram screen that could be viewed from any angle. Now shows are not watched, they are experienced, and you become part of it all playing any character you wish, and taking the show in any direction you want. The world of holosim is where everyone finds their entertainment, anywhere and everywhere you can find shops dedicated to supplying customers with endless selections of material to waste their days, weeks or even years.

“So is there anything good out? You know, something that will knock my socks off, I’m really into the old stuff, anything that puts me in the nineteen nineties, is the stuff I really relate to. Fuck, you know, I wish I was born back then, it would’ve been an awesome time, low tech as, but fuck man, the world was kicking back then,” the man asks the awkward looking assistant behind the counter.

“Umm, we’ve got nothing in at the moment that would suit what you’re after, I mean, we’ve got a couple of new ones that arrived today, but nothing I would recommend. Everything’s aimed at reliving the old TV shows these days, more gameplay compared to a closed story line like the movies. One of our customers has spent two years so far in a holosim based on an old TV show, and he doesn’t look like he’s coming out anytime soon.”

“Two fucking years? That’s insane. Unfortunately I’ve got a life, a job and a wife, holosim’s based on movies are what works for me, two days off and I just let the trip take me and a nice shot of FrezzH1 too of course,” he says with a smile. “Anyway holosim’s based on old TV shows are shit, they have such low budgets that they all look B grade, it makes me fucking sick to the stomach, no shit. I tried playing a holosim of some old TV a few years ago and only lasted three hours before I threw up, and I swore I never would try them again.”

“You’re talking about holosim’s from years ago, they’ve improved shitloads since then, trust me when I say this, you’re missing out.”

“Yeah well, for now, I’ll make do with the classics,” The man says as he hands the attendant four game cards. “I’ll just take these four,” the attendant quickly scans the cards and hands them back to the customer.

“Ok, your loss, I’ll see you next time, enjoy the gameplay.”

“Cheers,” the customer replies as he leaves the store.

The attendant looks around the now deserted store, and he slowly walks around from the counter and up to the window and looks out. His eyes show his disappointment, not just in his job, but in his life, Maddox Jensen was going to be more than this, he swore by the time he turned twenty-five, he would’ve done something for himself instead of others. But, as always he feels all he has ever done is things for everyone else, and nothing for himself. He thinks about the holosim scripts he has sitting behind the counter, he knows they would easily beat anything the store has to offer, but no one is willing to give him the chance to show the world what he is made of and what he can create. He lets out a sigh and makes his way back to the counter as two more customers make their way into the store, he gives them a fake smile and they smile back.

“Anything new in?” one of them ask him.

“Ok we have to form some sort of plan here,” Gary says. “Why don’t we punch a fucking hole through the wall and just take the asshole out?”

“That would be a big no Jackson, we could be endangering any hostages still alive in there, if we mess up they’re all going to be dead,” the DRS (Delta Divisional Special Response Squad) Commander William Sykes replies quickly.

“I don’t think it will matter that much if we sit here any longer, the fucker has not asked for anything and continues to randomly kill hostages every few minutes, I say we crash his party and take him out.”

“I understand what you’re saying, and I can see how doing it your way would get a result, but it’s not protocol, and on my watch we follow protocol,” Sykes replies back. A salvo of shots rip from within the café suddenly and tear into officers and vehicles alike, then as quickly as the attack started, it stops.

“I’m taking the arsehole down now with or without you,” Gary says as he gets to his feet and rushes towards the building. He only manages to get several feet before blaster fire forces him to dive for cover.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Davey’s voice yells over his commline.

“Sykes is pissing his pants, so I’m putting this shit to bed.”

“Well, you’re going to need some cover if you plan on getting in there.”

“Do it” Gary replies, shots rips through the air and smash into the side of the building, using the cover Davey provides Gary rushes towards the cafe and dives through the window. What was once a busy little café is now a battlefield.

“Sykes send your men in now, all the hostages are dead and the fucker responsible is nowhere to be see…. FUCK!” Gary yells as he dives desperately over the counter trying to avoid the salvo of shots that pour towards him.

“Why can’t you just leave me alone!” a voice screams. “This is my time, not yours!”

“You know we can’t do that!” Gary yells back. “Why don’t you put the weapons down, and you may get out of this alive!”

“You have no idea what you’re dealing with, what I am, what he made me!”

“If you don’t cooperate and lay the weapons down I’ll be un-making you!” Gary yells as he dives out from behind the counter and fires several well-placed shots to the man’s head, they do little to stop him, and Gary just lays there, bewildered for a few moments.

The DRS Team burst through the entrance and open fire upon the man, and to everyone’s amazement they have little, to no impact as well, then in several fluid and violent movements, he takes out all of the team members and then slowly turns to face Gary again, a smile broadly on his face.

“As I said, you have no idea what you’re dealing with.”

“Oh come on, fuck me!” Gary yells as he dives behind the counter once again as shots rip past him, just narrowly missing cutting him in two. “Davey Boy I hope you got something I can use?” he says through his commline.

“I’ve got shit on a stick,” Davey replies. “We’ve got back up on its way but the way things are going I don’t know if they’re going to get here in time to back up anyone.”

“Then let’s just improvise Davey Boy, the DRS team poured some serious firepower on our perp, and it did fucking nothing, they didn’t even wind the fucker. We need something heavy,” Gary says as he looks around the cafe for anything he can use.

Davey’s voice rips back through his commline, “Ok, get some fucking cover, you don’t want to end up being scraped off the floor as well!” Davey yells. “In other words I’ve got a plan so make sure you’re out of the way.”

    “Don’t do anything stupid.”

“You know me, I learnt from the best.”

    “That’s what I’m worried about.”

Day 63 – Fangs For The Memories – Short Story

We’re not sure who started the rumour about Mister Jarvis being a vampire, I know it wasn’t me or Fielding, it could have been Bailey, but none of that is really important anymore as we all pretty much have to live with what happened regardless of the role we played in it all.

Yokel Sepalovic arrived at our school ready to learn the English way, he had grown up in Germany and learnt all his English from YouTube and TV. He was surprisingly quite easy to understand and you could even manage a conversation with him, without asking him ever to repeat himself, but none of that really matters, it’s what happened when he heard about Mister Jarvis that is…

  • Day 62 – Deep Pockets – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 62 – Deep Pockets – YouChallenge Short Story

He sits in the waiting room as the world continues to move on around him, the girls behind the desk answer calls and fill in work sheets as he sits there, waiting. He shuffles in his seat, and he feels that he has the right to call it his seat as he’s sat in it enough over the last few months and spent enough money to do so. He looks up as the girls start chatting amongst themselves and then looks back down at his phone, opening up the note pad and starts writing, nothing really of any interest, but, he starts writing anyway, he looks up again as a woman makes her way from the back and around the counter, towards him. He turns his phone off and stands up.

“Mister Jones, sorry for the wait,” she says with a smile.

“It’s ok, I’ve waited longer over the past few months,” he retorts back, smiling as he does, her face freezes, the smile stays but her eyes tell a different story.

“If you’d like to come this way, she’s waiting for you,” she says as she leads him around the counter and out through the back.

    “How is she?”

“We’re not going to lie, it’s been a rough couple of hours,” she replies as she leads him through a door.

“That’s what my bank account said too,” he says sarcastically, she stops and turns to him, her smile now broader, but her eyes still show her true feelings.

“These procedures are not simple Mister Jones, what you’re paying for is cutting edge, top of the line work, if you have a problem with what we are doing, you are more than welcome to go elsewhere, but I can guarantee you won’t get the work we do anywhere else.”

“I’m well aware of where you sit on the totem pole honey, that’s why I’m here, you take my money, you take my sarcasm, I thought we agreed to that in your thousand page contract?”

“We are a professional establishment Mister Jones, and we expect all our customers to be the same, so if you don’t mind, please leave your sarcasm at home. Now, if you would follow me in here, you will see all the procedures that were required have successfully been completed,” she says as she leads him into a room, where a man and woman in white lab coats stand, checking over a woman who lies motionless on a metal table.

“Mister Jones,” the man says as he looks up, and extends his hand. “It’s always a pleasure to see you.”

“That’s what your bank account said,” he says as they shake hands. “So, they tell me is she fighting fit and ready to go?”

“Indeed she is, all the new modifications and software you requested have been installed, so she should be better than ever.”

“And you managed to keep all her previous saved commands and files?”

“Everything as requested,” he says with a smile. “So all you need to do is sign the release form, here, here and here, and place your palm, id tag side here, and you’re good to go,” he says as he places a tablet in front of him, and he quickly follows his instructions and hands the tablet back.

    “So, we’re good to go?”

“Certainly, Francis, boot Monica up and then escort her and Mister Jones to the waiting room. Until next time Mister Jones,” he says as he once again extends his hand.

“Until then,” he says as they shake hands and the woman on the table sits up and turns to look at him.

“Is it home time my love?” She asks.

“Home it is,” he says as he helps her down from the table and follows the woman from the room.

“I hate that man, he’s so, so, vile,” the woman says, the man turns to her and smiles.

“But his money, his money is golden, so I’ll put up with that droid lover any day of the week as long as he’s paying.”

  • The End Of Month Two Or The Beginning Of Month Three

The End Of Month Two Or The Beginning Of Month Three

Well, sixty-one days and forty-eight short stories later we are still venturing along these roads of madness together, and I hope, so far, the ride has been somewhat fun. Because there are many corners to take as we continue on the next three hundred and four days that remain on our journey, (I know we’re going to go a bit longer than that, calculations put us at three hundred and forty five days left, but for the beauty of the whole feel, we’ll just say three hundred and four). We ended month two on a savage note with the end of the Bad Day trilogy, where it goes from there, is anyone’s guess, but I feel the trilogy will become more, only because I like the character, even though I don’t think he has a name. So what have we got to look forward to you ask?

HorrorweenBlank Horrorween is coming, and its going to be a bit wild, with many things mounting up to be built around the week starting the 25th of October and coming to a close on the 31st. We’ll be treated to a few bonus stories, a anthology on Halloween day, a bonus massive YouChallenge that will require a lot of thinking and breaking of the rules, simply because it has to, but the closer we get to it all the more I’ll let you know, it’s a wild idea. What else can you look forward to in the Horrorween series… Oh that’s right….

    RoundheadNormal

The Roundhead will birth into this world on the 2th of October and it’s story will come to a close on the 31st, so for seven glorious days you will have a new part of The Roundhead to read. Also, for fun, over the next few weeks and months until it begins you will be subjected to small sneak peeks of the beast, and little phrases and what not. But the sneak peeks, they are fun, they will be in the form of preludes, but they’re not really, each counting down a letter of it’s name, R has already been posted and the rest will follow. They count down to the beginning of the Horrorween week. The preludes will not appear in the series and happen between the first and second chapter, once the beast has been released. It’s been a fun ride so far and I ask, urge and encourage everyone to share and comment on this as I really think this is a great idea and believe it really has come together awesomely so far and cant wait to see how it ends. The character appeared in a short story I wrote some time ago and I really liked the idea, but never really looked into what made it tick until now, and the original, its pretty much been chewed up by the new versions. Remember #daretoshare

    blacklab

We will have a new line appear from time to time called Black Label, these stories are a little more sexually explicit than some of the other stories that have sat on the edge and threaten to jump, well, these ones jump. I think they are good stories, well as good as all the rest and think if you can enjoy the ones that are nothing but swearing every second word, then you can enjoy the ones where sex is the main topic of conversation.

If Horrorween works then I have an idea for Friday the 13th, same sort of deal, a week of building a story up, but just at this point trying to work on everything else as much as I can. As always if anyone wants to throw any YouChallenge ideas at me you can either drop them in the comments below or email to earth2165@yahoo.com and I’ll take your challenge, trust me, I wont back away and I will make it work.

So with all that done, why don’t we spin our wheels and get to our next stop, because today is YouChallenge day and this one, it’s a bit of fun.

  • Day 61 – Bad Day III – The Final Day – Short Story

Day 61 – Bad Day III – The Final Day – Short Story

The pain is fucking terrible, I spit out blood, great, just how I felt like dying, sitting in my own piss, shit and blood. That fat fuck is gloating, dancing around like the big man he thinks he is, but he’s just a fat fuck. And fat fucks like Kildone always get what’s coming to them, even if I have to drag myself out of hell to do it. I did his dirty work, he screwed me over and so I came for him, and he ran and hid, surrounded himself with hired muscle, who folded quickly when I stuck my gun in there spleens. But when it got down to me and Kildone he managed to fire first, the fat fuck, I waited too long, had too much emotion tied up in it all, one if those fucking timing moments, too old and rusty for this shit. I took a shot in the shoulder and I dropped two in his arm. That’s when he show up, fucking fat son of bitch was desperate enough to call him. The bastard knocked me to the ground with a powerful punch in the side, when I say powerful, I mean it was like a freight train, I must have flown at least ten feet in the air. He started talking bullshit about how he’d been waiting so long for this, since I took his eye out ten years ago and ruined his life, his life was a waste of fucking space before that. They used to call him a lot of cool names before that, apparently, now they just called him old one eye. He came at me again and stomped down on my left leg, breaking it, actually the fucker probably shattered it. I grabbed him by the balls, because I could reach it, and I squeezed, he bent down in pain and I drove a finger right into his good eye and scooped it out like scooping the inside of a hard boiled egg. He screamed in pain and I grabbed him by his out of date mohawk and drove his head into the wall several times until he crashed to the ground and then I snapped the fucking pricks neck. And that’s when Kildone made he move and fired two shots into my chest, fucking fat fuck. He laughed, and started crapping on about how it was time to retire me for good, too many secrets and all that bullshit I needed to take to my grave with me.

I brought up the fact that he was the one that showed up on my door and made me do his dirty work because his dick was too small to get it done, he shot me another two times in the gut, fucker was enjoying this. Now he started to thank me for getting rid of Townsend and actually said he was sorry my family got caught in the cross fire, like fuck he was, fat fuck.

And so now, here I sit, or lie, whatever makes you happy picturing, with holes the size of golf balls in me, and a coldness rushing over my body, staring into the barrel of Kildone pistol and he’s standing there with his slimy, fat, fucking face smiling. But you know what? Fuck it, that fat fuck Kildone ain’t going to walk away either, so I smile back and I see the sudden fear on his face as I release the grenade that I’ve been holding onto tightly for the last five minutes and it tumbled towards him, stopping between his fat fucking legs, and he looks at me again as the grenade deton……

  • Day 60 – Fickle Things – Short Story

Day 60 – Fickle Things – Short Story

Mister Hayfield looks down at Jerry and smiles, a toothy, sharp smile and laughs.

“I like you Jerry, you’ve always been kind and respectful to me over the years, until now that is, but I’m going to cut you some slack, give you a chance to redeem yourself.”
“I know what you’re up to, I overheard you on the phone, you’re going to massacre everyone and try to take over the world, turn everyone into undead vampires like you are, well I’m not letting you bite me old man, so you might as well kill me!”

He laughs again, “Why would I kill you Jerry, what is that going to solve, killing is below me, don’t you think?”

“What about Mister Chambers and Carolyn?”

“They are not dead Jerry, they have taken up the struggle, they have joined with me,” he sits down in the leather chair and hooks one leg over the other and leans back in it. “Is that what you think I do Jerry, do you think I kill people?”

“Isn’t that what your kind does, suck blood and kill people?”

“How many people in this street have died or disappeared since you have been alive Jerry, and when died I mean been murdered, not of natural causes?”

Jerry sits there, trying to think of anyone he knows who suddenly disappeared or died mysteriously, his eyes light up quickly, “Mister Jenkins, he went missing two years ago, really mysteriously, did you eat him?”

He laughs, “Mister Jenkins went to Vegas, got married and never came home, don’t you remember?”

“Oh,” Jerry says as he racks his brain again, trying to think of anyone else, but his shoulders drop and he lets out a sigh of disappointment.

“See, if I was this killer would there not be missing people, strange deaths and all that silly stuff happening?”

“I guess so, but you drink blood, right?”

“Yes Jerry, I drink blood, but there is a whole network of vessels who we pay for the privilege to drink from, we are not like the vampires you see in your movies and comic books, we are civilised, respectful and understanding, your kind is the one that do not understand, that are violent and untrustworthy.”

“So why are you building an army?”

He laughs, “An army is not the word I used, now was it?”

“Okay, but you said you were slowly building your numbers for the day when you would rise up and take this world, what did you mean then if you aren’t going to go all bloodthirsty on us?”

“The end of days Jerry, when man is done and the world needs to be inherited, I am just building the numbers of my people so we are ready to take over, without violence, without hate, but with a plan, with know how and without the single drop of blood.”

“Sounds too good to be true?”

“Doesn’t it, why don’t you join me and see for yourself, it’s not every day you have the chance to make a change, why not join me? Be all you can,” he says as he extends his hand. “After all, what’s the worst that can happen?”

Day 59 – Wrong Question – Short Story

“I can’t believe you said that?” She says as she throws her drink in his face and then delivers a powerful slap across his cheek.

His cheek goes bright red and he gives it a quick, rough rub and smiles, “Okay, so I take it that’s a no?”

“Of course I’m saying no you perverted piece of shit, my god I can’t even believe you would ask such a ridiculous question!”

“What?” He says innocently, “I’m just trying to work out the boundaries, aren’t you ever curious how far someone will go on a first date, how it’s going to end?”

“I’ll tell you where it’s going to end, right HERE!” She says as she storms out of the bar, leaving him standing alone.

“You’ve got to use a little more finesse there Robbie boy,” the barman says, with a broad grin on his face.

“Shut up Herb, no one asked you for your opinion.”

Herb laughs loudly, “Robbie, I see you come in every week with a new girl on your arm and every time I end up kicking you out the door at closing time, drunk and alone. It’s like you secretly want the dates to fail, like you want to push their buttons until they storm out.”

“That’s not true, I just like to know where the nights going to end up, you know, what turns them on and shit, what’s good and what’s bad so I know what to stay away from,” he says with a smile, dangling his empty glass in the air.

“Tact and finesse will get that for you,” he says as he grabs a bottle of whisky and fills up Robbie’s glass.

“That’s just not how I operate Herb, I like everything to be on the table, straight up and all.”

“I don’t see how asking, are you into anal? Is going to help you get a feel for where the night is going to go.”

“Wouldn’t you like to know if you were going to end up knee deep in shit by the end of the night?”

“Amen to that,” a voice says from behind him, he turns to face a tall, blonde woman, with eyes that dance in the neon lights from behind the counter, he sucks in a deep breath and smiles awkwardly. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” she says as she places her empty glass on the bar, “I just couldn’t help but agree with your assessment, its rare these days to come across a man who’s not afraid to ask questions about the important matters.”

“My thoughts exactly, Herb, get this lady another drink, on me,” Robbie says with a broad smile, Herb takes her glass and pours her another beer and places it on the bar.

“Thanks honey,” she says as she places a hand on Robbie’s shoulder and leans in to his ear and whispers, “Just so you know, I’m open to anything,” and she kisses him on the cheek and goes back to her table of friends, leaving Robbie standing there, with his mouth open wide.

“Well, don’t just stand there looking like a dick, go join them,” Herb says as he shoves Robbie from the bar.

Sometime late they crash through the door, entangled in each other’s arms and are quickly in the bedroom, both already half undressed. She pulls his hard, throbbing member free and expertly devours him, and he falls back onto the bed in ecstasy until he emptied himself in her mouth, she quickly gets up and wipes her mouth, with a wicked smile.

“Okay lover boy, my turn,” she says as she grabs him by his hair and pushes his head into her groin and he feels her big, hard, erect member and he looks up at her, with wide eyes and she looks at him and winks, “Just so you know, I always like to end the night with anal.”

  • Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Four – Act IV

Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Four – Act IV

Clover Mall, one of the biggest and newest malls to grace Delta City, only completed three years ago, it has become a beacon of what today, can be created. Complete with a state of the art security system and more shops than you ever thought possible to be in one place.

“You go to the security room, and I’ll stay on the floor, see if you can spot him and guide me in his direction?” Gary instructs as the two go their separate ways.

Davey barges his way into the security room and shoves his badge in the security officer’s face, after several agonising minutes Davey finally spots Steedman and guides Gary towards him.

“Simon, doing some late night shopping?” Gary yells, Steedman comes to a stop and slowly turns to face Gary.

“Gary, twice in one week, a man would begin to think you were following him.”

“A man would be right then.”

“Do you mind if I do a couple of jobs first and then I’ll pop over to Three and we can sit down and I’ll go over everything I know about Allison’s movements. I promised my wife I wouldn’t forget and with everything that happened this morning I almost did.”

“Bullshit, you’re not even married you arsehole, why are you trying to avoid this, did you have a part to play into what happened to Allison? Danny said it wasn’t a suicide, he said someone deliberately overdosed him on the MercuryFour.”

“Fuck you Jackson, you don’t know what it’s like, sometimes things happen, sometimes people have to become something else to get the job done. I’m not trying to defend myself here I’m just saying things happen, I’ve seen things that would make you wet yourself, so don’t judge me. If you want me, you’re going to have to take me down the hard way!” Steedman yells as he throws his bags to the ground and faces Gary down.

Gary places a hand on his blaster, Steedmans eyes watchfully follows his hand, “Look, Simon, why don’t you calm down and we’ll go to Three, sit down like adults and go over everything, this doesn’t have to end up getting violent.”

“Then take your hand off your blaster, if you really don’t want to get violent.”

“Ok,” Gary says as he raises his hands in the air. “Look, whatever role you played in Allison’s death it doesn’t have to go down the wrong way, if you took him out because of what he did to the kids, it could be your saving grace, you might even keep your badge.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, you have no evidence to interrogate me with, I had nothing to do with those children or Allison’s death!” Steedman yells.

“I never said you were involved in the deaths of the children, just Allison’s, that’s all, you can deny it all you want but you left a pretty good boot print on Allison’s thigh, which Danny would have matched to at least one pair of your shoes by now.”

    “You’ve been in my home?”

“We obtained a warrant half an hour ago, we tried reaching out to you but you left your phone in your car, seemed you’d packed quite a bit of shit in there, were you taking a trip?”

“Fuck you, I don’t have to answer any of your questions, I’m not under arrest.” Steedman says, Gary stares at him for several moments before making up his mind and drawers his blaster free from its holster and aims it towards Steedman.

“Simon Steedman, I’m placing you under arrest for the murder of four children and Marcus Allison,” Gary says as he grabs Steedman by the shoulder, Steedman grabs a small silver device from his jacket pocket and throws it to the ground between them, Gary makes the stupid mistake of looking down to see what it was as the device lets out a loud shrill and explodes in a ball of light blinding him instantly and Steedman takes off down the hallway.

“Have a nice time finding me Jackson!” Steedman yells back.

“Steedman is our target, get your arse down here now!” Gary yells over the commline, he lets out a scream of pain as he shakes his head vigorously, trying to see anything other than the bright white light he sees at the moment.

“On my way, where are you?”

“Fuck where I am, he’s coming your way, the fucker dropped a hyperflare and I can’t see shit, so this ones on you!” Gary screams as he tries to feel his way forward.

Gleeson sits at his desk staring at the holo image of a shadowed figure.

“Thank you sir, I’m honoured to take over from Divisional Commissioner Alexander.”

“I’m glad, it took more time to finally move the old buzzard on as it took for us to settle you into the position, I was worried you would keel over before he ever stood down,” the figure says with laughter.

“I had the same feeling, but now I have a real chance of making a difference, making a change for the better.”

“I hope you realise what I have done for you, your past would be nothing without my help, and you would be definitely under the ground now if it were not for me, so don’t get too big a plans Commissioner,” Gleeson looks up and stares uneasily at the figure.

“I realise this sir, and I appreciate all you have done, but now is the time for me to begin cracking down on some of the bigger problems in this city. I have files filled with data and targets, but you continue to tie my hands on these, the time has come for those bindings to be removed and for you to let me do what this city needs to be done.”

“Don’t suddenly grow balls Gleeson, you are still my puppet, and you still follow my commands. I have not invested all my time and credits in you just so you can run away with the fairies and try to clean the filth from this city. You will remember it was I who helped you get to where you are, no one else, so don’t think you are above me.”

“That’s not what I meant sir.”

“Glad you feel that way Commissioner, I can see we will work well together,” the figure says as the screen goes blank, Gleeson slams his fists on the table in anger.

Steedman runs around the corner, looking over his shoulder frantically and doesn’t notice Davey coming at him from the other direction and the two slam into each other, and both go crashing to the ground. For a few moments they both sit there dazed, before Davey notices that his blaster has fallen to the ground and it sits between them. Steedman spots the blaster as well and both men make a dive for it, wrestling over it for several moments, before Steedman manages to free himself from Davey’s grip and grabs the blaster and points it towards Davey.

“Get back, get fucking back!” Steedman yells.

“Look Steedman, don’t make things worse than they already are!”

“Don’t try and belittle me you fucker,” Steedman says. “I’m not stupid, you’re all the same, I want to help you, Simon. I only want to do what is right for you, Simon. I just want my cut, Simon. Pay me, Simon! Well, it’s too late pretty boy, I don’t swing that way anymore, now you just sit there quietly while I think about whether I put a hole in your head or not!”

“Look, Simon, I don’t care what you think, but you don’t want to make things any worse than they already are, you kill me, and there’s no way of getting out of the hole you’re in, at least now, at this moment, it’s only forty or fifty years on ice.”

“Shut up!” Steedman yells as he smashes the blaster into Davey’s face. “Just shut the fuck up!” He gets to his feet and stands over Davey, the blaster still aimed at his head, “You made me do…” Simon’s words are cut short as Gary crashes into him and they both go crashing to the ground, Davey’s blaster skids off down the corridor and Gary yanks Steedman’s arm behind his back.

“FUCK OFF!” Steedman yells. “LET ME FUCKING GO!”

“Not on your life,” Gary says, his vision still not back to one hundred percent, but enough for him to find his target. Davey gets to his feet and grabs his blaster shoving it in Steedman’s face.

“How do you feel now little man? How do you feel about all you’ve done?” Davey says.

“Davey, lower your fucking weapon!” Gary yells as he locks the holding clamps on Steedman. “We’ve got him Davey, we’ve got the fucker and he’s not going anywhere but on ice, and for a lot longer than he would hope!”

“Why, why should he be allowed to live, this sick fucker deserves nothing better than a hole in the head!”

“It’s not the way, you kill him, and you’re no better than he is, no better than the scum we fight to put away. Lower you blaster and step back, let the fucker rot in the VR system!” Gary says as he places a hand on Davey’s blaster, Davey stares viciously at Steedman and the after a few moments, slowly lowers his blaster.

“Believe me, this is the right way,” Gary says. Steedman begins to smile and lets out a little laugh.

“I knew you were too weak to pull the trigger,” Steedman laughs, Gary spins around and as he does, he grabs Davey’s blaster out of his hands and smashes it across Steedman’s face then shoves it up into his jaw.

“You keep laughing funny boy, because I’m going to be laughing as you’re shoved on ice for the next ninety years and I’m going to make sure to visit you every now and then and remind you why you’re there. So you just keep laughing funny boy, just keep fucking laughing,” Gary says as he pulls Steedman to his feet.

In downtown, it’s hard to have a good reputation for anything, let alone food, but Park Side Café has always managed to keep theirs above better than average and in Westfield, better than average is top of the line, and with prices to die for it makes them one of the most popular eateries in the area.

“Has anyone heard from Jamie? He’s ten minutes late for his shift, which is a first,” The manager of Park Side asks one of the staff members working the counter of the small café.

“No, he seemed fine last night when he left, nothing unusual, said he’d see me today,” the staff member replies.

“Well he’s not here, and he’s not answering any of my calls, I might pop over to his place and see if he’s okay.”

“That won’t be necessary, sorry I’m late,” a gravelled voice says from the entrance way.

    “Jamie, are you okay?”

“I’m the best I’ve ever been in my life, so consider this my resignation,” Jamie says as he opens fire, shots rip into the manager and anyone else within the immediate area.

“You did okay today Davey,” Gary says as he takes a seat at his desk.

“Why don’t I feel like it then?”

“Because you’re a critical motherfucker who can’t accept the fact that you’re out of touch with the world, living the big life up there in the towers of Babylon drinking wine and having your dick sucked every day has created this barrier you are going to have to push yourself past.”

    “Fantasise much?”

    “No, facts are facts.”

“Sharing some words of wisdom Gary?” Gleeson says as he stands in the doorway.

    “Something like that.”

“You boys got a good result today, keep it up and you never know where your feet may land you in the future.”

“I’ve tasted the future Bill, and I find this sort of thing more satisfying,” Davey says.

“Sometimes, change is what we all need son.”

“Is that coming from our Superintendent or the Divisional Commissioner himself?” Gary asks.

“Both, now I expect to see you, both of you, tomorrow night, Doris has planned a little gathering for family and friends to celebrate, or as I call it an excuse to spend more of my credits.”

“I’d be honoured to,” Davey replies as Gary laughs.

“Goodnight boys,” Gleeson says as he leaves the two alone again.

“So, what do we do now?” Davey asks, but Gary does not need to answer the question as his commline flashes red.

    “Jackson here?”

“We have a situation taking place at Park Side Café, Westfield, we need all available units ASAP.”

“We’re on our way,” Gary replies. “Let’s go partner, time to go back to work.”

  • Day 58 – Transplant – Short Story

    Day 58 – Transplant – Short Story

Freddy places his bag on the floor and lets out a sigh in frustration, he looks around the small room and his shoulders drop and he slumps forward and falls on to his knees, his face planted firmly in his hands and he cries, for almost an hour. He sits there, lost, confused and completely overwhelmed by the events that have taken place over the last two days. Finally he forces himself up and looks across into the mirror, and stares at the reflection of the man he hardly recognises, his face puffy, his eyes red raw, and his face unshaven. He screws his face up in anger and swings a solid left punch into the mirror, the impact sends multiple cracks from the impact point and he grits his teeth in pain as he feels several shards dig into his tightly clenched fist.

“Fuck!” He says as he pulls back his fist and looks over his now bloody hand and flexes his hand open, letting out a grimace of pain, he rushes to the small bathroom and washes his hand as a uneasiness begins to come over him, he frantically pulls the shards of glass from his hand and wraps one of the hand towels that sit at the sink around his hand, and it quickly beings to turn red. From the main room he hears his phone scream out and he stumbles out of the bathroom and grabs it from the small desk, and once he sees the caller id he sighs and he answers it.

“I thought you never wanted to talk to me again?” He says.

“Why do you have to be like this?” She says.

“Are you seriously asking me that fucking question?”

“For god sake Freddy, talk to me, don’t block me out like this!”

“What, me block you out? I’ve said everything I needed to say, what else is left?”

    “Everything!”

He laughs, “Well honey, everything is a whole lot of fuck you!”

“Can’t we talk? Can’t you give me a chance to explain? Please?”

“Why? So you can laugh behind my back again, so you can fuck me in the arse while I’m off living in some fucking fairy-tale? That’s not going to fucking happen sweetheart, not by a long shot, you decided to go off and choose your own adventure, so fuck you, no we can’t talk about it!” He yells into the phone.

“Freddy, please, don’t let it end like this, don’t leave it like this,” she says.

“Well you shouldn’t have slipped on that piece of shits dick, bitch!” He yells as he throws the phone into the ground and collapses in tears, time passes and he wakes on the floor in a ball to the sound of someone knocking on the door of his room, he uneasily picks himself up and makes his way over to the door and slowly turns the handle and pulls the door agar, a bright, white light blinds him and he’s forced to pull away and shields his eyes, and is horrified to see his crumpled, lifeless body lying in a pool of blood and he turns back to the doorway as a figure slowly begins to form in front of his eyes.

    “Lincoln?”

“Hey, Freddy! Man what a shame dude, you really deserved a better way to go out, you really did,” he says as he slaps a hand on Freddy’s shoulder. “But hey, on the bright side, at least that lying piece of shit is going to feel a lot worse down here in this shit hole, while we’re going to party it up in the afterlife man, you wouldn’t believe the shit that’s legal on this side of the shizzle.”

  • Day 57 – Daddy Issues – Short Story

Day 57 – Daddy Issues – Short Story

Patty lays his hand against her chest and his shoulders sink forward as he feels nothing, an emptiness, a void. She looks at him with desperation in her eyes and he shakes his head as he pulls his hand away.

“I’m so sorry,” he says softly as he shuffles back into his seat, and his brow furrows as he slips into a deep, frustrated thought.

“That’s it? That’s all the great psychic Patty O’Brian has to say, I’m sorry,” she says as she gets to her feet and slams her palms down onto the table in anger and leans across towards him. “Some fucking hero you turned out to be.”

“Casey, please, I didn’t say I can’t help, I just said sorry, that’s all,” he says as he meets her vicious gaze with a sympathetic, almost calming gaze of his own and she backs away. “Tell me, where did you meet this man who you claim stole your soul?”

    “On a dating website.”

“Which one?” He asks as he pulls a tablet from beneath the table and places it in front of her.

“Lonely Hearts,” she replies, he quickly looks up the site and turns the tablet around to face her and nods towards it.

“Log in,” she looks at him nervously. “I don’t care about anything else, just this Romeo, nothing else, I have no desire to learn any of your secrets.” She reluctantly signs into her profile and brings up the message screen showing the interaction with the so called Romeo, Patty’s eyes widen when he lays eyes on the image of the man, and he leans over to table, turning the tablet around to face him.

“It can’t be possible,” he says as he looks up at her. “You’re sure this is the man?”

“Of course I am, I’ve only been on the site for a month or less and he’s the only one I’ve physically interacted with. Why, do you know him?”

“A long time ago, and I’m not talking a couple of years, I’m talking fifty or more at the least.”

“That’s impossible, his profile says he’s twenty-eight, maybe he just looks like this guy?”

“Open your eyes woman, if this Harold is who I think he is, then we could be dealing with much more than a simple soul stealing, we could be facing end of days stuff.”

“Patty, you always did over react,” a voice says from behind him, and his body stiffens with fear as cold hands come to rest on his shoulders, he feels his coldness against his ear and he stiffens. “Hello old boy, how’s business?”

    “D-D-Drake?”

“I’m so touched you remembered,” he says as he squeezes Patty’s shoulders and pushes him forward as he released his hold, Patty spins around but there is no one, he frantically looks around the room for any sign of him, but the room is empty except for himself and Casey, and he can see the fear in her eyes and then, she smiles, and casually leans back in her seat.

“So tell me, what have you been up to since we last saw each other all those many years ago?”

“Get out of her you disgusting piece of shit!” Patty yells as he gets to his feet, thrusting his hand out towards her.

She laughs, “I’m the disgusting one? You should read the message history of this vile woman, she takes disgusting to a whole new level, now sit down, so we can have a chat about what’s going to happen next.”

“I cast you out demon, I forbid you sanctuary, go, fore you are unwanted!” he yells.

“Sit down Patty, your old charms will not work on me now, she is but a vessel, only a microphone if you will. Now sit, trust me you’ll want to hear what I’ve got to say,” she says as she smiles again and gestures towards his chair, Patty reluctantly sits back down and uneasily shuffles in his chair.

“You might as well kill me now if that’s what you’ve come here for, I’ll never be a part of whatever hideous designs you have planned.”

She laughs again, “If I wanted you dead, you would be, so let’s not play silly sods any longer. I want you to complete the task you were created for, I want you to help me find that son of a bitch, hiding out there, in the meat puppets and I want to suck his soul dry.”

“You can’t be serious? How do you know he’s still out there? How can you be sure? You failed last time, what makes you certain you can beat him now?”

“Because I know he is, and this time I won’t fail, this time I will suck God’s soul dry and then, the world will be mine,” she says with an evil laugh. Patty swallows a mouthful of saliva, and it tears down his throat as if it were bone and then, he smiles.

  • Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Four – Act III

Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Four – Act III

District-Two stands high in uptown, many of the officers placed here are only a stone’s throw away from a Divisional placement, and Gary feels sick to the stomach about it.

“Welcome to Two, where cops come to die?”  Gary announces to Davey.

    “Come to die?”

“Fuckers placed here are a hop, skip and a jump away from a Divisional seating. Waste of time task forces are formed here, people sit around and make out they are doing real police work, but in reality, they’re just slowly losing their grip with the world and then Divisional completes that separation.”

“You don’t think real cops can work in Divisional?”

“Never seen one,” Gary replies with a smile as he points to a well-dressed man sitting at a desk. “That’s Steedman, see look at the fucker, he thinks he’s a fucking movie star.”

As they get closer Steedman looks up and locks eyes with Gary, he gets to his feet and smiles, “Gary, it’s been a while.”

“Gets like that when you’re reaching for that brass ring,” Gary says as they shake hands, “You remember Davey?”

“Of course, Davey, what can I help you boys with, or are you just visiting?”

“I was wondering if you could answer a few questions about a former partner of yours?”

“What do you want with Allison?”

“How do you know we’re after Allison?”

“I’ve been a cop for twenty-five years Gary, it’s my job, and I got a call before you boys got here about the murders you’re dealing with at Three, you have to remember anything drug related comes across my taskforces desk.”

“Spoiled the surprise then, anyway we have reason to believe Allison is responsible for the murder,” Gary replies. “If you’re not aware, we have DNA samples from all the children that are a one hundred percent match for Allison, and we also have reason to believe he’s in possession of a batch of MercuryFour that was meant to be in the evidence locker at Eight.”

“Kids were never Allison’s style Gary, whatever evidence you have it planted. And the MercuryFour, junkies don’t even touch that anymore, and Allison he would’ve never been able to get his hands on the stuff in an evidence locker anyway.”

“We’ve already checked Right’s evidence lockers and the drugs are gone, so that might be a small hole in your assumptions.”

“Fuck, look Allison may have fallen into drugs, but he’s still a good man. I use him as a snitch every now and then, but I’m telling you Gary, there’s no way he would be involved with killing children, that’s just not him.”

“I don’t give a fuck Steedman, the evidence points at Allison, good men don’t go around killing innocent children, let alone pumping them up with MercuryFour. Now do you know where Allison is?” Gary asks, Steedman looks down at his feet for a few moments.

“I can take you to him, but Gary, please, let me talk to him first before you do, I may be able to get at least something out of him.”

“Lead the way,” Gary replies as he holds his arm towards the doorway.

    #

Gary screws up his nose as he gets out of his cruiser, ‘How the mighty have fallen, Allison used to have a place in uptown, but this shithole is definitely a move in the wrong direction.’ He looks around the junk riddled car park of the Costa Mae Hotel.

“You sure he’s here?” Gary asks.

“If I know Allison this is where he will be, he may be a junkie, but he’s also a creature of habit. Regardless of anything else, he always comes home at around eight and then leaves again around eleven-thirty, he’s very predictable, that’s why I use him so much,” Steedman says.

“Good for you, let’s hope your creature of habit is just that,” Gary replies as he leans up against the doorway.

“So you like it rough or easy these days?” Steedman asks.

“On three,” Gary says giving Steedman a vicious stare. “One, two, three!” He yells as they crash through the doorway.

“Marcus Allison, District-Three PD, stay where you are!” He spots the body instantly, his mouth covered with foam, drug overdose, blood trails lead from his eyes and nose to a pool on his chest, pockets of blisters cover most of his face, as well as a white powder.

“Fuck!” Gary yells as he slams his fist into a wall. “Get Danny over here, and tell him we’ve got Allison’s body.”

    #

“I’m telling you, he didn’t kill himself,” Danny says.

    “How can you be sure?”

“The amount of MercuryFour in his system is astronomical, no one could’ve survived a quarter of that amount and still managed to feed the rest in, he was killed,” Danny replies. “And there’s something else, see these markings on his inner thigh?” Danny pulls the sheet back over Allison’s body pointing them out. “Someone held him down, drove their boot right into his thigh and forced the drugs into him. These red marks around his mouth and nose tell me that right away. We’ve all seem the damage MercuryFour can do, it rips away at the skin, but these are more like grazes than side effects of the drugs.”

“Great, one door closes and another one opens, so you think it was revenge for the kids?” Davey asks.

“Maybe, or maybe he never did the kids, maybe this was a way of completely throwing us off whoever really did this, dead men tell no lies.”

“So what do we do, how do we find the killer?”

“I bet Steedman knows!” Gary replies as he grabs his phone.

“Hello Delta District-Two PD, you’re speaking with Thomas, how may I help you?”

“Thomas, this is Detective Inspector Jackson from District-Three, I need to have a word with Chief Inspector Steedman?”

“One moment detective inspector,” Thomas replies, the Delta City police logo appears and some crappy music begins to play, several minutes pass before Thomas reappears, “I’m sorry Detective Inspector, I cannot locate Chief Inspector Steedman, he seems to be out of the office at the moment. Would you like to leave a message?”

“Do you know where he is?”

“No, sorry detective inspector, there are no notes on his schedule.”

“Look Thomas, this is an emergency, can you locate his cruiser for me?”

“One moment, I’ll patch through to dispatch and get the coordinates for you.”

    “Thanks,” Gary looks at Davey.

    “You got a feeling?”

“Sort of, I’m not sure just yet, we’ll see how it plays out.”

Thomas comes back on the other end of the line, “Detective Inspector Jackson, his cruiser is located at Clover Mall, parking level A-Thirty-Seven.”

“Thanks Thomas, you’ve done great,” Gary says as he places the phone down.

“Clover Mall it is?” Davey says.

“Too fucking right, Clover Mall, let’s see what he’s hiding from,” Gary replies.

“You think he’s going to ground?”

“Only one way to find out.”

“It’s perfect,” she says as she takes a step back and looks at the painting. “I love it,” she says turning to him, he smiles and blushes, stuffing his hands in his pockets and shuffling his feet.

“I’m glad you like it, I tried to incorporate all of the elements you asked for, right down to the expressions on the children’s faces in the background and the detail in the foreground, I wanted it to be crisp, photo like, so it seems as realistic as possible.”

“You did more than I ever thought possible, it will be the central piece in the exhibition, everything else will be built around it, you should stay for the night and witness the reactions, people won’t believe it is a painting,” she says as she grabs his dirty, tobacco stained hand and squeezes it. “Say you will, please?”

“I’m not exactly dressed for the occasion,” he says looking down at his paint stain, torn trousers and his faded, dirty hoodie.

“Don’t be silly, there’s a shower out back and I have a collection of clothing still in the storage room from the old costume shop that used to be here, I’m sure you will find something dazzling to wear, say you will?”

He blushes once more as she squeezes his hand again, “Okay, I’ll stay,” he says with a smile.

    “Marvellous, Tiffany, show Mister Sanderson..”

    “Please, it’s Tim,” he says.

“Of course, please show Tim to the back area and help him find something simply divine to wear for tonight and then help him get cleaned up.”

“Of course Tina, please follow me,” Tiffany says as she leads him out the back. “I love your work by the way,” she says.

“Thank you, I try to put as much of myself into my art as I can.”

“It’s a rare quality you have, not many people are born with such as gift.”

“I wouldn’t say I was born with it, more like I acquired it one day.”

“Really?” She says as she opens up a door that leads into a dusty old room with four clothing racks, overflowing with costumes. “How would you acquire something like that? It’s not like you could win it in a game of cards or anything?”

He laughs, “No not in a card game, it was nothing like that, it just happened one day, I picked up a brush and started painting, not just shit, but really beautiful, realistic images, I don’t know how, I was never a good drawer or anything like that, fuck I couldn’t even draw a house, and then one day I was a master with no practice.”

“Life has a way of doing that, here we go, try this on for size, I think you would look quite dazzling in this,” she says as she hands him a black tuxedo.

“Don’t you think it’s overdoing it a bit?”

“Somebody with your skill needs to realise that image is important, without the image, the work is useless, unless you die of course, and then, then your work is worth much, much more,” she says with an evil smile, he swallows a mouthful of air and feels his body break out in a cold sweat and he lets out an awkward laugh. “So tell me, how many more pieces have you done since you were bestowed with this amazing gift?”

“A few, but this is the first time someone has purchased one of them, all the rest are in my loft collecting dust.”

“You’ll have to show them to me some time,” she says as she drops her dress revealing her naked body. “Are you going to stand there all day, or are you going to come here and join me?” She says as she leads him out of the room, towards the shower. “Tina did say to help you get cleaned up,” she says with a smile. He smiles again and nervously follows her out of the room and into the small bathroom. “Close the door and get your clothes off,” she says as she turns on the shower and climbs in, he quickly rips his clothes off and leaps in after her.

    “Is this really happening?”

“No,” she’s says as she drives a blade deep into his neck, severing several major arteries, he has little time to react, as his heart pumps his blood from the open wound quickly, it spurts up onto the tiled walls and across her naked body, as the water from the shower washes it away, Tiffany stands there amused at the look on his face as he falls to his knees, the door opens and he turns to see Tina standing there with her hands on her hips and a smile on her face.

“Don’t be scared Timmy, we’re going to make you famous.”

  • Day 55 – The Line – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 55 – The Line – YouChallenge Short Story

He sits in the examination room and runs a hand over his clean shaven head, and slaps it down over his skull, using it like a drum for a few moments before he drags the hand down over his face, dragging his eyelids down, revealing the red flesh behind his eyes and then over his nose and into his mouth, where he begins to nervously chew on his fingernails as the doctor walks back into the room and sits down in front of him. His nerves shoot into overdrive as they purge themselves from his body and out through his military styled boots, which start nervously tapping on the ground, causing the chains that hang from his skin tight jeans to rattle and he shuffles in his seat locking eyes with the doctor as he pulls on his red suspenders.

“So, tell me you got good news for me, because I’m really starting to get on edge with all the bullshit, needles and scans and swabs and shit, feel like I back in the big house?”

“I really wish I did, but it’s worse than we first thought.”

“How can it be worse than it is?” he says as he shifts aggressively in his chair. “Fuck, it’s all easy for you to say this bullocks about shit being worse, but my whole lifestyle has had to change. I mean, I can’t even go out and enjoy a fucking drink without worrying my liver is going to explode, so why don’t you just get it over with. Tell me how bad it fucking is.”

“Please Mister Berksi, don’t take your aggression out on me, I’m trying to help you, if you’re not satisfied I can refer you to another one of my colleagues?”

“Pull you fucking cock out of my mouth and just tell me!”

“We’ve found abnormalities in the scar tissue and things are not moving along the way we want them to.”

“Well what the fuck does that mean, you told me this shit would subside if I laid off the booze, and I haven’t had a fucking drink in eighteen weeks and my skin is still bright fucking yellow, and I still feel like shit most of the time, and I look like I’m pregnant, what the fuck are you going to do about it?”

“Surgery is going to be the best option, it means a lot of rest, the partying will have to stop completely, and when I say completely, I mean everything. Whatever substances you are taking as a way to counter the no drinking has to stop, it all prolongs your livers ability to repair itself, complete and utter abstinence is the only sure fire cure at this stage.”

“Well, you might as well just slit my bloody wrists then, sure I’ll stay away from the drink, if I have to, but I can’t go to a show and not do something, besides my new girl, she’s into all that shit, I’m not going to go all government on her and say she can’t do it just because you said so.”

“Mister Berksi, you have to understand, if you continue living the excessive lifestyle, you will, and I say will not might, develop liver hepatitis, and if that happens there may not be much more we can do for you, right now you’ve got the chance to act and turn the tide, don’t ignore that chance.”

Bob shuffles in his seat, “Look doc, my whole life has been about excess, punk music and just having a good fucking time, if I can’t do any of that then I don’t know who the fuck I am. So you can stick your rules and stick your softy fucking approach, if I’m gonna bite it then I’m going to bite it my way,” he says as he gets to his feet.

“Mister Berksi, Bob, long term goals remember, what we talked about, once we get all this under control you can have the odd drink or two, nothing like you have in the past, but you can still enjoy life, that’s the main thing. Don’t be ignorant and make a rash decision that there will be no coming back from.”

“Nah, fuck you doc,” he says as he lays a boot into the doctor, knocking him to the ground. “I’m going out Bob style, I ain’t one to walk no pansy fucking line!”

  • Day 54 – Dilation – Short Story

    Day 54 – Dilation – Short Story

He falls back into the seat as the needle drops to the floor and the drug rushes through his blood system like a rocket, until it slams headlong into his brain like a hot poker. The drool starts quickly and his eyes dilate as the iris is completely absorbed by the pupil. The next few seconds seem like hours to him as he sits there almost comatosed and then, he sees it move and he jumps to an upright position, it’s then he notices the darkness that has settled over the room, and that thing, whatever it is, moves again in the corner of the room. He stumbles wearily to his feet and tries to ready himself for whatever it is as he slowly makes his way over towards the corner, where it sits. He reels back in horror as he spies the blob like creature that sits in the corner, it’s big, round, pain-filled eyes staring at him.

“Hhhheeeeeeellllllppppp mmmmmeeeeeeee,” it says, and he tumbled backwards, crashing to the ground, the thing slowly slithers from the corner towards him and he screams in fear and scrambles to his feet and runs behind the couch where he hides, but he can still hear the thing continuing to slithering forward, coming closer and closer, until it begins to make its way around the corner of the couch, and he freezes in place as once again he looks into its big, round, helpless, pain-filled eyes.

    “Hhhhheeeeeelllllllpppppp meeeeeeee, pleeeeaaasssseeeee,” it says.

“What the fuck are you?” He whispers.

    “Dwwwwaaayynneere, pleeeeaasssseeee hhheeeepppplllmmeeeeeee!”

“What the fuck are you?” he screams this time.

    “Doooeeessss iiittt matttteeerrrr? Heeeelllllppppmmmeeeeee!”

    “H-H-How?”

    “Kkkkkiiiiillllllll mmmmmmeeeeee.”

    “W-W-What? K-Kill you?”

    “Ppppplllllleeeesss, kkkkkkkiiiiillllll mmmmmeeeeee!” it screams.

Dwayne’s mind reels in madness as he tries make sense of all that is going on around him, never once suspecting the creature is nothing more than a figment of his own mind due to the drugs hallucinogenic properties. He looks around the room as the weird creature clutches a hold of his leg and looks up at him, Dwayne forces it away with a few violent swings of his leg and it tumbles several feet away, hitting the floor with a splat, he looks around the room frantically, looking for something to use as protection, as the creature rights itself and slowly makes its way back towards him.

    “P-p-p-pppplllleeeeeaaaaasssseeeee D-d-ddddddwwwaaayyyyynnneeee, hhhhheeeelllllppppp mmmmmeeeeeeee, k-k-kkkkiiiiilllllllmmmmmmeeeeee.”

Its then that Dwayne feels something pinch his arm tightly, he looks down to see a toy wooden soldier looking up at him with a demented grin on its face.

“Do it Dwayne, kill it, you know you want to, kill it or we’ll kill you,” the toy soldier says, Dwayne freaks out as he tries frantically to brush it away, throwing himself backward, he looks around the room and his jaw drops in confusion as the room seems back to normal, sweat pours from his forehead as he nervously gets to his feet and looks around the room, and lets out a sigh of relief when he sees nothing unusual, everything is where it should be and how it should be, and slowly he sits back down on the couch.

“What the fuck was that?” He says out loud with a nervous laugh, then he hears it again, the slithering sound and he freezes into place as he feels something grab his leg. He slowly looks down and once again locks eyes with the weird, slimy blob.

“K-k-k-k-kkkkkkkiiillllllll y-y-y-yyyyyyyyyyyyyyoooouuuuuuuuuuu!” It cries and Dwayne screams in terror as hundreds of wooden toy soldiers start running up his legs, laughing and cheering as they begin stuffing themselves into his mouth, he chokes violently as his air supply is instantly cut off and he jerks around in fits of desperation and then, he falls silent. As a deep, thick, white froth leaks from his mouth, the drugs final effect takes place and his heart beats its final beat.

  • Day 53 – Bad Day II The Goodnight Kiss- Short Story

Day 53 – Bad Day II The Goodnight Kiss- Short Story

Kildone is a fucking piece of shit, that’s what he is, I knew I should’ve just put a bullet in his head then and there instead of trusting he would uphold his part of the deal that night. I mean, look at the fat fuck, thinking he has this won. Sure, I’ve seen better days, I’ll admit that, but he’s the guy who hires people like me to do his dirty shit, because he’s got no backbone for this sort of shit, and now I’ve come home to pay him back tenfold.

When I got to the house I knew in my gut straight away that they were dead, I knew the slimy piece of shit had more than likely done it as soon as he knew I’d taken down Townsend, but I’d hoped I was wrong. I saw the blood before I saw the bodies, both of them wouldn’t have known what was happening, Kildone, that fat fuck, is going to pay, but I had to deal with the three fucks he left waiting for me first. I knew I wasn’t alone, I knew he wasn’t stupid enough to leave me breathing, but at the same time I knew he would want me to see them first before his boys did the job, he likes that sort of shit, but grief does many thing to a man and right then I just wanted to cry. When the cold steel of the barrel pressed against the back of my head it pulled me back to reality quickly, and the fucker started to say something which would’ve ended in shit about this not being personal, a line I’d used many times when I was working clean up. But I didn’t give him the chance as I fired two shots through my shoulder into his head. The other two didn’t know what was happening and left themselves wide open for a goodnight kiss, which I was more than happy to do. I searched the bodies and found a throw away and dialled the only number in the phone, classic fat fuck style.

“Is it taken care of?” He said, that slimy fat fuck, what an absolute piece of shit.

“They’re taken care of and you’re next you piece of filth,” I said back.

“It doesn’t need to be like this, none of this was personal, why don’t you come back to the fold, you always were the best, but I’ll tell this, if you come for me I’ll bury you with your family!”

“You’re demented, you kill my family and think I’ll come back and work for you, the only thing I’m going to do for you is shove my fist up your mother fucking arse!” I yelled as I threw the phone to the ground, kissed my family goodbye and went to work tracking the fat fuck down. Two weeks it took me, two long, sleepless, soulless, haunted weeks until I found where the fucker was hiding and tonight I’m going to make sure my family can finally be at rest after I take my pound of flesh from his fat arse. The compound he set himself up in was way off the grid, he’d even hired a street gang called the Medusas Circle to cover his arse, fucking small change wanna be kingpins, it took me all of five minutes to work them over and send them running, leaving Kildone to me.

So, now, as I stand in this doorway, facing that fat fuck Kildone, both of us with guns drawn, I can’t help but think, who’s going to fire first? Me, or the dead man?

Lies Of A Broken World – Chapter Four – Act II

Gary barges into District-Three HQ and quickly makes his way to the elevator.

“Gary!” a voice yells out from behind him as he steps into the elevator, he turns and the look of concentration on his face dissolves to one of surprise.

“Davey ‘fucking’ Givans what the hell are you doing here down in the pits of the Districts?” Gary says as he and Davey embrace.

    “I’ve been reassigned to Three.”

“You’re fucking kidding me? How does someone get reassigned from Divisional to a hell hole like this?”

    “They request it.”

“Seriously? Divisional get that boring for you?”

“Come on Gary, cut the shit, you know me, I always liked to keep myself involved in the day to day bullshit of this job. Divisional was good for a while, but the politics of it all interferes in what I love about the job.”

“What, getting shot at by Zerker’s and junkies?”

“Exactly,” Davey says with a laugh. “So how’s everyone? It’s been way too long since we all sat down and had a few drinks.”

“Everyone is doing fine, Fontaine is still running his shithole of a bargain store and taking anything else he can on the side, Jonah is working the private sector as a security officer, among other things and Patterson is off-world somewhere, making the stars safe for us all.”

    “Off-world?”

“Yeah some bullshit hush, hush, expedition back to the failed colonies.”

“He always was a sucker for aliens.”

“Yeah, he may finally live out Fontaine’s dream of having sex with one.”

    “How did Andrew take it?”

“All I’ll say is, he sent him a dead rat as a going away present, and apparently, according to Fontaine, he hid a fish in Patterson’s luggage.”

“Sounds like he’s settled a lot since I last saw him.”

Gary laughs, “You could call it that, although I think it might be because he’s getting married, again.”

    “Again?”

“It’s a long story, which I’m sure he’ll drive you crazy with when we all sit down,” Gary says with a laugh. “So where have you been assigned to in this shithole?” he says as the doors open, and they both step out.

    “Same floor as you.”

Gleeson makes his way towards them with a glowing smile on his face, “Davey great to see you,” he says as they shake hands.

“Superintendent, it’s been too long, how’s Doris?”

“She’s good, you’ll have to get your arse over for dinner soon, away from all these pompous rules and regulations,” He replies as he looks towards Gary. “I would’ve liked to talk to you before Davey arrived but, as usual, your ability to get side-tracked interfered again.”

“Sorry, you wouldn’t believe where my day ended up.”

    “Somethings never change,” Davey says.

“Why change perfection,” Gary says with a smile.

“I know you’ve got your hands full so I won’t keep you boys any longer than I need to,” Gleeson says. “To help Davey assimilate himself into District-Three I am partnering you two together.”

“No offense to Davey, but I work better alone.”

“Not anymore, and I expect you to lay off using Fontaine, it makes all of us look bad,” Gleeson says.

    “We had a deal remember?”

“Deals are what they are, this is an order.”

“Don’t worry about me, I can handle myself, I’ve kept the rust from setting in at Divisional, so you won’t need to carry me like a rookie,” Davey says with a smile.

“Guess I really don’t have much of a choice do it.”

“There is no such thing as a choice here, now get Davey up to speed on your case files and get to work,” Gleeson says. “And one other thing before you boys leave, I just wanted you to know as of next week Chief Inspector Stapleton will be replacing me here as District Superintendant.”

“You got the promotion? That’s great news, Doris must be over the moon, and I know mum and dad would be,” Gary says as he shakes Gleeson’s hand.

“Thank you son, yes, Doris has already started ordering more shit we don’t need, you should have seen her, I swear her eyes lit up like dollar signs when I told her of the promotion,” Gleeson says with a laugh. “Now get out there and show me the results I know you two are capable of.”

Gary looks at Davey and the smile drops from his face, “OK, for starters we don’t have time to sit back and scratch our arse, so I hope you came prepared to jump right in?”

“I’ve been ready for this since Gleeson accepted my transfer, I’m ready to get back to basics,” Davey replies, Gary stops and faces Davey.

“I’m never going to understand why you wanted to come to this shit hole of all places. You earned your position at the top, you did the yards and played the games, so I hope you’re not on some sort of suicide run because I don’t have time to carry you.”

“You’ve got nothing to worry about with me Gary, I’m here to get my hands dirty and make a difference, like we always talked about, Divisional doesn’t care about doing the right thing, cleaning the streets, putting the shit where they belong, the just sit there and dip their fingers in all the shit they can. Look, really, all I can tell you is I need this as much as you do.”

Gary stands there for a few moments before he hands Davey a datapad, “Here’s the file on our current case, four children aged between six and eleven were found in Milwaukee Park early this morning. Each of the children suffered fatal stab wounds to their upper torso and chest, and none of them showed any signs of defensive wounds, or fear for that matter, we’re running with the idea that drugs were used to placate them,” he says quickly, Davey opens the datapad and then quickly closes it.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Davey says softly, Gary stops again and rips the datapad out of Davey’s hands.

“Look we don’t have time for you to be sick,” Gary says. “The children showed signs of some sort of white powder on their mouth and nose, and Danny, Three’s head forensic coroner, believes its MercuryFour. Junkies don’t even touch that shit anymore, so we’re dealing with a sick puppy if that’s the case,” he looks back at Davey who is white as a ghost. “You never were one for the grisly stuff, still this is new.”

“Sorry, I’ll be fine, this is just unexpected.”

“Trust me, Three has no room for weak stomachs. Not like Divisional, now are you going to be ok or not? We’re going to see Danny for the autopsy results, so that means the morgue, and more than likely the bodies, do you think you can handle it?”

“I’ll be fine, I’m feeling better now.”

“Grab a drink of water and follow me,” Gary says pointing Davey to a water cooler.

    #

“Danny this is Detective Sergeant Davey Givens, he’s joining us here in this hell hole for a while, Davey and I go way back to training days,” Gary says. “Davey this is Danny Halifax, the best coroner you can work with in Three, or any other District for that matter.”

“You’ve got one hell of a guide, if he doesn’t get you killed, you’ll learn a lot,” Danny says shaking Davey’s hand.

“I have a feeling that’s on the cards, but he did save my life more times than I can remember when we were based out in the wastelands, so I’m hoping he’ll keep up the tradition,” Davey replies.

“Don’t make me regret any of those times, or you’ll have more than a feeling,” Gary says. “What have you got on the kids Danny?”

“It’s what I didn’t find that’s upsetting,” Danny replies as he pulls a drawer out of the wall, laying on the metal table is one of the children from earlier. “There are no defensive marks on any of them, they never put up a fight, not one of them. But even more disturbing is that there’s also no trauma marks around the entry points.”

“So what you’re saying is that these kids didn’t fight back at all?” Davey asks.

“From what we can see at the moment, the answer is yes.”

“So, it was more than one attacker?” Davey asks.

“No, there was only one attacker that I am sure of, the results show that all the entry points were the same depth and from the same angle, the chance of there being more than one attacker is very unlikely, there would be too many variations, here there are none.”

“What sort of person would do such a thing to a child?” Davey asks.

“You’d be surprised what some people are capable of down here in Three, it’s nothing like when we were based in Five, that place was a cake walk compared to the shit we deal with here, that’s why Delta Holding’s grows another level every five months,” Gary says. “What about the white powder, is it MercuryFour?”

“Sharon is still doing some final work on the samples we pulled from the kids and the crime scene, she should be able to give you full details on it all.”

“Ok, we’ll head over to trace and see what she’s turned up,” Gary says. “I’ll let you know if I need anything else from you Danny.”

“You know where to find me,” Danny replies. “Oh, and good luck Davey, I hope you last.”

    “You’re not the only one.”

    #

A few silent minutes later they arrive at the trace labs, “Sharon this is Detective Sergeant Davey Givans,” Gary says.

“Welcome to the club Davey, I hope he’s being nice to you?”

“I’m too scared to complain in case he takes me out the back and puts a blaster to my head,” Davey replies with a smile.

“Enough with the smart arse routine guys,” Gary says. “Sharon, Danny tells me you should have the results from the multiple homicides ready for me?”

“You mean the children, horrible thing to happen to someone so young, but on a positive, your killer left his DNA all over them.”

“You’re going to tell me you’ve got an exact match as well aren’t you?”

    “Marcus Allison.”

“Marcus Allison?” Gary says. “That name sounds familiar.”

“Up until eight months ago Allison was a District officer,” Sharon says. “He was dismissed after he was caught using illegal drugs while working a case, it was in the news quite a bit at the time from memory. The media were like vultures over the case because it was shown Allison was high on whatever he had managed to score that day while he was involved in a shootout that killed three innocent bystanders, and it was shown that Allison was the shooter.”

“He avoided not being sent to Delta Holdings?” Davey asks.

“It was his impeccable record that saved him a trip to the freezer, twenty-one years on the force, five hundred and sixty-eight arrests and not one problem, not up until that event anyway.”

“Do we have a current address for him?” Gary asks.

“No, by the looks of things he just up and disappeared after he was dismissed.”

“Fuckers still around by the looks of it, what about the white power?” Gary asks.

“Danny was correct in his assumption, the powder used was MercuryFour.”

“Fuck, I really thought even dealers were too smart to sell that garbage.”

“That’s the general consensus these days, it’s been over two years since we’ve had a case dealing with MercuryFour at Three anyway, but it’s not just us, the last reported case involving MercuryFour was almost eighteen months ago.”

    “Which District?”

    “Eight.”

“Does it say who the officer’s involved with the case were?”

“Detective Inspector Simon Steedman was lead, but he’s no longer stationed in Eight, he’s leading task force Johanna at Two.”

“Johanna, they’re a drug-related task force right?” Davey asks.

“That’s correct, Johanna has been in place for a little over a year, and it’s a waste fucking of time,” Gary says.

“I’ve seen their results and could not agree more, Steedman was the wrong guy for the job but someone upstairs shoehorned him into the position,” Davey replies. “So we off to Two?”

“Two it is,” Gary says in agreeance. “Let’s see if our old friend Steedman can help us out with some information, he might have something on known MercuryFour suppliers.”

“There’s one last thing I thought you’d like to know, the MercuryFour found on the children is exactly the same as the MercuryFour from the last recorded bust, right down to its sub-atomic makeup. It’s either from the same batch as the one Steedman recovered, or it’s the MercuryFour that was recovered in the bust he made eighteen months ago,” Sharon says. “And at that time Steedman’s partner was Marcus Allison.”

“The plot thickens,” Gary says as he turns to Davey with a smile. “Two, here we come, bring your baseball bat Davey Boy, because we’re going to cause trouble uptown.”

  • Day 52 – Jump To The Beat – Short Story

Day 52 – Jump To The Beat – Short Story

“It’s all going to be okay, you just have to trust me and we’ll all make it out, okay?” he says as he holds his hand out towards her, she looks at his hand and then up into his eyes, then to his nose and his lips, she slightly tilts her head as she studies the droplets of spit that dance across his lips and then down to the pulsating vein that beats in his neck, flushing his body, with the rich, life giving blood and she clutches his hand and smiles.

“I knew you’d find me, I knew you wouldn’t leave me to rot down here,” she says as she hugs him close and digs her head into his neck, breathing in a deep whiff of his odour, and she feels her knees go weak.

“I told you I’d find you no matter what, as long as I still have breath, you know I’ll find you,” he says as he pulls her away and places a hand on her chin. “Are you read?”

“I guess I don’t really have much of a choice,” she says with a nervous smile.

“I wish there was another way, but we’re so deep inside their hive that the only way out is through the front door.”

“How, they must know you’re inside by now, they’re a collective, one mind with a thousand different arms, we’ll never make it back,” she says as a tear runs down her face, he places a hand on her shoulder and squeezes it.

“We didn’t survive the battle at Man’Gak Rah because we were lucky, we made it out because we’re good, no, we’re the best at what we do. Sure, this is out of our league in terms size, fuck, no one’s encountered a Tanzi’Rak hive the size of this and made it out to tell the tale, but when we’re trapped in a corner we get out and we survive, that’s what we do, and that’s what we’re going to do.”

“You really believe that, don’t you?”

He grabs her by the waist and pulls her close, “As much as I know I love you,” he says as he kisses her, a scream comes from behind them and he pulls away from her and smiles. “Rosita, play me something with a beat, you know what I like,” he says.

“I have the perfect track,” a computerized voice replies, followed quickly by a disembodies beat that is quickly joined by a synthesiser and guitar, he looks at her, his head bopping back and forth and smiles again as he holds out his hand once more.

“May I have this dance my love?”

She grabs hold of his hand, “You can have all of them,” she says, he lays a boot into the door kicking it to the ground, before them a horde of weird, greenish, insect like creatures storm towards them, screaming in unison as they decent on the two. Quickly he pulls two blaster free from their holsters and begins firing away, as pull a blaster from a holster in his left boot.

“You always take me to the craziest places,” he yells over the blaster fire and screams from the oncoming Tanzi’Rak.

“Well, you’re the one who loves me!”
