Day 96 – Hunger Pains – YouChallenge Short Story

They all sit around the table, no one really knows what to say or do, so they all just sit there as he tears into the sandwich like someone who hasn’t eaten for several days. He looks up from the food, his cloudy, lifeless eyes look over his family and he smiles a dirty, rotten smile.

“What’s everyone looking at? Haven’t you seen someone eat a frekin sandwich before?” He asks.

“I-I-I-It’s not the sandwich Wilhelm, its you, y-y-y-your dead,” Lukas says as he looks at his brother.

“Don’t seem like I’m dead, in fact I feel better than I ever have, you on the other hand, you look old, and so do the sprouts,” he says as he stuffs the sandwich into his face again.

“It’s because you’ve been dead for eight years.”

He chokes on his mouthful of sandwich and spits it back out, onto the plate. “Eight years? Bullshit?”

“Why the hell would I lie to you?”

“Because you’re a penis breath, that’s why, so where the cameras? When’s everyone going to jump out and say, got you Uncle Wilhelm!”

“It’s not going to happen, because, you’ve really been dead for eight yours, but not only that, what I don’t understand is you were cremated, how in the hell can you be here if you were cremated?”

Wilhelm stares at his brother through dead eyes, as his brain tries to turn over, as it tries to piece together what he’s been told and then he takes another large bite of the sandwich. “How the fuck should I know, I woke up in some shitty hotel and realised where I was, so I thought I’d come over for a surprise visit. Besides Alice fainting, the kids screaming and you wetting yourself, I thought it was a good visit so far,” he says as he flashes another rotten smile.

“So you don’t remember anything else about how you got here?”

    “Didn’t I just say that?”

“I know, I just want to make sure we’re all on the same page.”

“Fuck the same page, if I’m supposed to be dead what the hell am I doing waking up in some fucked up hotel, hungrier than I’ve ever been before?”

“That would be my fault,” a voice says from the doorway, they all turn to see a woman, standing against the door, her hair a mixture of red, pink and green, bright purple lipstick covers her lips and a multicolour rainbow covers her eyelids.

    “Gwen?” Wilhelm says.

“Who the fuck is Gwen?” Lukas asks as he gets to his feet, “What the hell have you done to my brother?” he says, she grabs him by the throat and stares at him with her black, soulless eyes.

“Paying a debt, you should be so lucky, enjoy the time with your brother, because soon the hunger will take over.” Lukas gasps for breath as she releases her grip and smiles towards Wilhelm, “We are even now.”

“Did we need to be?” Wilhelm asks as he shoves the remainder of the sandwich into his mouth.

“Pig, you weren’t going to escape me in death like you did in life, I will have the last laugh, and it will be the loudest,” she says as she disappears into the darkness of the night, he lets out a maggoty burp and rubs his stomach as it lets out a groaning noise as he feels his hunger build.

“Tell me you’ve got something else in this house I can eat? Because I could eat a baby elephant right now.”

    END

The challenge was, ‘Uncle Wilhelm is back.’

  • Day 94 – Windows – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 94 – Windows – YouChallenge Short Story

Steve throws his jacket onto the back of the chair and gently closes the door, locking it as he does, and then confidently strides over to the window and opens the blinds, looking out over the dark city. He smiles broadly and undoes his belt as he settles down in his seat and opens the laptop that sits on his desk, quickly bringing up a web browsers. He looks around like a child who is about to do something naughty and that’s when he catches a glimpse of a figure, moving quickly out of view in window of the building across the street. For the next five or more minutes he searches the floors of the building, looking for any movement, but the office block looks to be completely deserted and silent, so he turns back to his laptop and unzips his fly, a website flashes up on the screen, littered with naked women and men, engaged in various sexual activities, he wiggles his trousers down and grabs hold of his hardening member, and then freezes in place, as he feels eyes staring at him, and once again he looks out, across the street into the building opposite, he sees the man standing in the window staring back at him, and he turns around quickly and closes the laptop and tries to shuffle his pants back up as his phone rings, making him jump in fright, he grabs the phone off the desk and answers it nervously.

    “H-H-Hello, this is Charles.”

“Hello Charles,” the voice on the other end says.

    “Can I help you?”

“I’m not sure, you look like the one who needs the hand, so to speak.”

    “I’m sorry? Who is this?”

“Just a neighbour who noticed someone in need of assistance is all I am, unless you saw something else, and then were going to have some sort of problem I think.”

    “What?”

“Look out the window Charles!” the voice orders, Charles nervously turns back to the window to see the man waving towards him.

    “See me now.”

“How did you get this number?”

“Wasn’t hard tubby, just as it wouldn’t be too hard to come over there and rip your stomach open and force feed you your intestines several times over until you choke on them!”

“I-I-I-I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Charles screams as he slams the phone down, he looks back out the window and the man is gone, he lets out an exhausted sign of relief as he sinks back into his chair, and for the next few minutes he just sits there, calming himself, relaxing. Before his mind begins to drift and he suddenly wonders why the man disappeared for the window, and then he realises, then the threat of feeding him his own intestines causes him to leap from his seat and rush to towards the door, he pulls it open as the knife blade tears into his stomach, he screams in pain as he crashes to the floor. Through the tears and the pain he can see the man’s blurred image standing a few feet away from him and he reaches out. “W-W-W-why?” He finally manages to ask.

“Because, sometimes you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that is you all over fat boy, anyway, enough small talk, its dinner time!”

  • Day 90 – Unhealthy – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 90 – Unhealthy – YouChallenge Short Story

“It’s just not healthy Ben, can’t you just get another hobby?” She says, but he shows little to no acknowledgement of her words, he just stares forward. “For fuck sake Ben, look at me when I’m talking to you, or so help me god I’m leaving?” But still he doesn’t move, she screams in frustration and storms over to the power point and grabs the cord.

“Pull it out and I’ll kill you,” he says, she stops and stands there, still holding onto the cord and turns to face him, he still sits there, showing no signs that he even knows she’s there, but she clearly heard him speak.

    “What the hell Ben?”

“I said, fucking pull it out and I’ll kill you Sally, are you fucking deaf?” He says, not even bothering to look away from the TV, she feels her hands shake and drops the cord.

“What’s happened to you Ben? What’s happened, to us?”

“For god sake Sally, can’t we do this another time? I fucking watching my show!”

“You’re always watching this fucking thing Ben, you haven’t moved for the last two days except to take a piss or a shit and you’ve been carry the pad around with you when you do so you don’t miss any of this stupid fucking show, can’t you just turn it off for a few hours, so we can spend some time together, with just each other?”

    “Typical,” he grunts.

    “Sorry?”

“I fucking said, typical, I mean, it’s always like you to twist anything I actually have an interest in to be the worst thing in the world, is it because you can’t accept the fact I’m enjoying myself? Or is it just because you’re not the front and center of my attention?” He says, once again not tearing his eyes from the screen.

“You’re losing it Ben, whatever’s going on with you is just too much, if you want to talk to me, I’ll be at Becky’s,” she says as she runs out of the room and grabs her keys and bag off the kitchen table, he grabs her arms tightly and forces her to drop her keys onto the table.

“You’re not fucking going anywhere,” he says, still keeping his eyes locked in the TV. “When my show is done we’re going to sit down and talk this out, but right now, you’re….” He doesn’t get a chance to finish what he is saying as she drives the keys into his throat, he releases his grip on her and clutches at his neck, while she continues to stab him over and over again with the key, until she is finally exhausted and he is dead, she looks up and stares at the screen, the camera slowly zooms in on her face, covered in blood, and she finds she cannot pull herself away as she slowly walks over to the couch and sits down.

He looks uncomfortably into the rear-view mirror, at the car behind him, it’s red and blue lights flash violently and he swallows a mouthful of air, it moves down his throat like a rock and he shuffles in his seat as the officer gets out of the vehicle and slowly makes his way towards him.

“Is this your car sir?” the officer asks.

“Yes, yes, did I do anything wrong, I didn’t think I did anything wrong, I was…” he says quickly until the officer interrupts him.

“Please sir, I’ll ask all the questions around here, you just need to answer the questions, not write a book, now, can I see your licence?”…

Day 83 – Hippy Shake – YouChallenge Short Story

“I’m telling you it’s not normal,” Tony says to Jerry, his supposed best friend, that was up until five minutes ago.

“You’re just being crazy, honestly man it’s nothing, you’re overreacting, it’s not that bad.”

“You just said it was nothing and now you’re saying it’s not they bad, so obviously it’s something, maybe I should get it looked at?”

“Who by? A doctor? I wouldn’t go to a doctor about that, they’ll probably call in the government and then they do all sorts of tests on you and shit.”

“What the fuck are you taking about, I thought you said it was nothing? Why the fuck would they want to do fucking tests on me if it’s nothing?”

    “Okay, maybe it’s something…”

    “What the fuck?”

“Look, it’s pretty obvious, I mean you can hear it from across the room.”

    “What? Seriously?”

    “Honestly?”

    “That’s why I’m fucking asking?”

“I could hear it before you even came into the room, I was sitting here just eating my burger and then I heard this music, and I’m thinking, where the fuck is that music coming from and then you came around the corner and I was like, oh wow is that coming from Tony? I though, fuck man, you’ve got your iPod on way too loud and then you sat down and well here we are talking about this crazy arse soundtrack that’s following you around, like your own, fuck man, it’s like you’ve got your own personal theme music man, that’s awesome when you think about it,” Jerry says smiling at Tony, who gives him a cold look back.

“It’s not cool Jerry, it’s driving me insane!”

“Okay, just calm down then, when you get excited the music gets more pace, more of a beat, man, it is like it’s your own personal theme music, honestly man it’s cool, seriously, when the fuck did it start happening?”

“Two days ago, like I fucking told you when I first sat down, we were sitting around have a few cans at Darby’s and his sister rocked up with some guy she met at some crazy party she has been at up in the hills, you know some hippy commune acid party. And this dude was like a soft dude, you know, he was like, hi man, your aurora is like so ultra-positive and deep, you should come up to the commune, you would really dig it man, you know too over the top, like almost fake. Anyway they hung around, we all ended up stoned, the hippy was like my best friend and we started talking about cool shit we’d love to have, and I said, I’d love my own soundtrack to follow me around every day and he said I can make that happen, I said some bullshit, most of it I can’t remember and he held out his hand and told me to shake his hand and he’d make my wish a reality, and here we are, so back to my original question, have you fucking seen Darby’s sister?”

  • Day 76 – Feed – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 76 – Feed – YouChallenge Short Story

He raises the fork up to his mouth and his face twists, as he looks at the strange, bluish meat that hangs off it, he feels her eyes staring at him and he looks towards her and he feels the sweat run down his face.

“Stop staring,” he says as he lowers the fork and his brow furrows with frustration.

“What? I’m not staring, I was just casually looking your way,” she says with a smile.

“Don’t be a smart arse,” he says as he stuffs the fork into his mouth and begins to chew, his face shows so many different emotions as his taste buds react brutally, he chews for a few more minutes before he finally swallows, almost choking as he does, he quickly grabs the glass of water and empties the contents down his throat, she lets out a small giggle.

“God Sam, are you okay?” She asks.

“Don’t laugh, there’s nothing funny about it.”

“Come on, honestly you should see your face.”

“Well you try it,” he says as he quickly cuts another piece off and holds the fork out towards her, she looks at the meat and her face turns white, and her eyes widen.

“You ordered it, not me,” she says as she pushes the fork away.

“Well, don’t laugh then,” he says as he looks down at the piece of meat and swallows a large gulp of air before he forces it into his mouth and chews again.

“If you don’t like it, don’t eat it,” she says sternly.

“I’m not going to waste it, d-d-do you know how much it cost?” He says as he forces the mouthful down.

“Surly it can’t taste that bad?”

“It just tastes funny, wrong, I mean, isn’t supposed to taste like chicken, because this taste like a chicken shit.”

“Excuse me sir, is there s problem?” The waiter asks as he comes over to the table.

“Yes, my friend is not enjoying his meal,” she says, and he gives her a stern look before looking up at the waiter, and smiles awkwardly.

“It just tastes a little strange is all.”

    “Is this your first time?”

“Yes, yes it is, but that should not be an issue, food is either what it’s advertised to be or its not, and this? Whatever it is supposed to be, is atrocious, I don’t think anyone would eat this poorly cooked garbage.”

“I can assure you sir, Chef Anton, is acclaimed in culinary circles, his dishes are, literally to die for, but he also welcomes feedback, so if you wish to pass on your issues with the dish to Chef Anton herself, I am sure he would be happy to discuss them with you.”

He looks across the table and she shrugs her shoulders and he looks back at the waiter, “Why the hell not, sounds like he needs s bit of reality in his face,” he says as he gets up from his seat and winks at the girl.

“Of course sir, this way,” the waiter says as he leads him out into the kitchen. “Chef Anton, I have a customer who wishes to discuss their disappointment with you.”

“I am always happy to listen to what my public have to say,” Chef Anton says and he walks over to the two of them, with a beaming smile on his face. “My friend, tell me, what dish did not satisfy your pallet tonight?” He says as he clutches Sam’s hand and shakes it variously.

“The rump, and it was terrible, whatever you used obviously was spoiled or something worse.”

“Please, come out the back I’ll show you how fresh my product is, please this way,” Chef Anton says, leading Sam out into a large freezer where three naked bodies hang from meat hooks, some missing body parts and pieces of flesh. “As you can see these products are fresh, today, clean and free of disease, we have stringent standards I vigorously uphold. I think maybe you just don’t enjoy finely cooked Homo Saipan cuisine,” he says as the waiter brings a cleaver down into Sam’s head. “But I’m sure you’ll cook up a treat, François tell Miss Donovan she has kept her gold star discount,” he says as he begins striping Sam of his clothing.

  • Day 69 – He Started It – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 69 – He Started It – YouChallenge Short Story

I blame my sixth grade teacher Mister McCardle for it all, I mean he started it all, someone had to, and he’s the best one to blame. Every time, every fucking time I did something wrong he would say it, without fail and the whole class would laugh as though he had just told the greatest joke in the whole world, but really he was just being a bully. ‘Huston’ he would say, ‘Huston, we have a problem.’ What an absolute jerk. It followed me around for years, but, I learnt to live with it, I mean, I had no other choice but to, and it just became white noise. That’s was until our class reunion, I knew I shouldn’t have gone, but at the last minute I thought, what the fuck, and decided to come. It was good, not great, but I caught up with a lot of people I hadn’t seen in years, a lot of them for various reasons, mostly though, because life had just taken over and we had moved onto other things. I drank, a lot, I mean a lot and that’s when she walked back into my life, Victoria Salan, the one girl I lusted after for years, I still remember many a night I thought about her naked and in my bed. Hell, she was the first girl I religiously masturbated over, and here she was, looking as hot as ever, and alone. Needless to say, in the last twenty-five years my small talk had improved and I was also drunk, so I made my way to her. We talked for an hour or more, about everything and nothing, it was amazing, and then, she suggested we slip out and explore the old school, I didn’t argue. We ran through the halls like little kids and ended up in our old class room and the next thing I know we’re both half naked and I’m telling her about my perverted thoughts from school and how I used to masturbate over her all through puberty, and beyond. She took it really well and suggested the real thing was much, much better. I almost came in my pants then and there, but managed to hold it in, she dropped the rest of her clothes and I did the same and we kissed, and that’s when it happened, she reached down and grabbed my limp, that’s right limp not hard, cock and stepped back, looking shocked, as did I, I didn’t know what to say, what to do and then she said it, those five fucking words, ‘Huston, we have a problem?’ And I lost it, fucking McCardle, the old bastard, it was all his fault, so I ran straight out of the class room, back into the old gym, still naked mind you, and ran up to that old fucking jerk, he looked shocked when he saw me coming, but still he just stood there and I threw the punch, a punch twenty-five years in the making, and knocked him to the ground. I wasn’t to know he was going to hit his head on the step and crack it open, I wasn’t to know it would kill him, and that’s the whole truth officer, I swear, he started it.

  • Day 62 – Deep Pockets – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 62 – Deep Pockets – YouChallenge Short Story

He sits in the waiting room as the world continues to move on around him, the girls behind the desk answer calls and fill in work sheets as he sits there, waiting. He shuffles in his seat, and he feels that he has the right to call it his seat as he’s sat in it enough over the last few months and spent enough money to do so. He looks up as the girls start chatting amongst themselves and then looks back down at his phone, opening up the note pad and starts writing, nothing really of any interest, but, he starts writing anyway, he looks up again as a woman makes her way from the back and around the counter, towards him. He turns his phone off and stands up.

“Mister Jones, sorry for the wait,” she says with a smile.

“It’s ok, I’ve waited longer over the past few months,” he retorts back, smiling as he does, her face freezes, the smile stays but her eyes tell a different story.

“If you’d like to come this way, she’s waiting for you,” she says as she leads him around the counter and out through the back.

    “How is she?”

“We’re not going to lie, it’s been a rough couple of hours,” she replies as she leads him through a door.

“That’s what my bank account said too,” he says sarcastically, she stops and turns to him, her smile now broader, but her eyes still show her true feelings.

“These procedures are not simple Mister Jones, what you’re paying for is cutting edge, top of the line work, if you have a problem with what we are doing, you are more than welcome to go elsewhere, but I can guarantee you won’t get the work we do anywhere else.”

“I’m well aware of where you sit on the totem pole honey, that’s why I’m here, you take my money, you take my sarcasm, I thought we agreed to that in your thousand page contract?”

“We are a professional establishment Mister Jones, and we expect all our customers to be the same, so if you don’t mind, please leave your sarcasm at home. Now, if you would follow me in here, you will see all the procedures that were required have successfully been completed,” she says as she leads him into a room, where a man and woman in white lab coats stand, checking over a woman who lies motionless on a metal table.

“Mister Jones,” the man says as he looks up, and extends his hand. “It’s always a pleasure to see you.”

“That’s what your bank account said,” he says as they shake hands. “So, they tell me is she fighting fit and ready to go?”

“Indeed she is, all the new modifications and software you requested have been installed, so she should be better than ever.”

“And you managed to keep all her previous saved commands and files?”

“Everything as requested,” he says with a smile. “So all you need to do is sign the release form, here, here and here, and place your palm, id tag side here, and you’re good to go,” he says as he places a tablet in front of him, and he quickly follows his instructions and hands the tablet back.

    “So, we’re good to go?”

“Certainly, Francis, boot Monica up and then escort her and Mister Jones to the waiting room. Until next time Mister Jones,” he says as he once again extends his hand.

“Until then,” he says as they shake hands and the woman on the table sits up and turns to look at him.

“Is it home time my love?” She asks.

“Home it is,” he says as he helps her down from the table and follows the woman from the room.

“I hate that man, he’s so, so, vile,” the woman says, the man turns to her and smiles.

“But his money, his money is golden, so I’ll put up with that droid lover any day of the week as long as he’s paying.”

  • Day 55 – The Line – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 55 – The Line – YouChallenge Short Story

He sits in the examination room and runs a hand over his clean shaven head, and slaps it down over his skull, using it like a drum for a few moments before he drags the hand down over his face, dragging his eyelids down, revealing the red flesh behind his eyes and then over his nose and into his mouth, where he begins to nervously chew on his fingernails as the doctor walks back into the room and sits down in front of him. His nerves shoot into overdrive as they purge themselves from his body and out through his military styled boots, which start nervously tapping on the ground, causing the chains that hang from his skin tight jeans to rattle and he shuffles in his seat locking eyes with the doctor as he pulls on his red suspenders.

“So, tell me you got good news for me, because I’m really starting to get on edge with all the bullshit, needles and scans and swabs and shit, feel like I back in the big house?”

“I really wish I did, but it’s worse than we first thought.”

“How can it be worse than it is?” he says as he shifts aggressively in his chair. “Fuck, it’s all easy for you to say this bullocks about shit being worse, but my whole lifestyle has had to change. I mean, I can’t even go out and enjoy a fucking drink without worrying my liver is going to explode, so why don’t you just get it over with. Tell me how bad it fucking is.”

“Please Mister Berksi, don’t take your aggression out on me, I’m trying to help you, if you’re not satisfied I can refer you to another one of my colleagues?”

“Pull you fucking cock out of my mouth and just tell me!”

“We’ve found abnormalities in the scar tissue and things are not moving along the way we want them to.”

“Well what the fuck does that mean, you told me this shit would subside if I laid off the booze, and I haven’t had a fucking drink in eighteen weeks and my skin is still bright fucking yellow, and I still feel like shit most of the time, and I look like I’m pregnant, what the fuck are you going to do about it?”

“Surgery is going to be the best option, it means a lot of rest, the partying will have to stop completely, and when I say completely, I mean everything. Whatever substances you are taking as a way to counter the no drinking has to stop, it all prolongs your livers ability to repair itself, complete and utter abstinence is the only sure fire cure at this stage.”

“Well, you might as well just slit my bloody wrists then, sure I’ll stay away from the drink, if I have to, but I can’t go to a show and not do something, besides my new girl, she’s into all that shit, I’m not going to go all government on her and say she can’t do it just because you said so.”

“Mister Berksi, you have to understand, if you continue living the excessive lifestyle, you will, and I say will not might, develop liver hepatitis, and if that happens there may not be much more we can do for you, right now you’ve got the chance to act and turn the tide, don’t ignore that chance.”

Bob shuffles in his seat, “Look doc, my whole life has been about excess, punk music and just having a good fucking time, if I can’t do any of that then I don’t know who the fuck I am. So you can stick your rules and stick your softy fucking approach, if I’m gonna bite it then I’m going to bite it my way,” he says as he gets to his feet.

“Mister Berksi, Bob, long term goals remember, what we talked about, once we get all this under control you can have the odd drink or two, nothing like you have in the past, but you can still enjoy life, that’s the main thing. Don’t be ignorant and make a rash decision that there will be no coming back from.”

“Nah, fuck you doc,” he says as he lays a boot into the doctor, knocking him to the ground. “I’m going out Bob style, I ain’t one to walk no pansy fucking line!”

“Sorry, force of habit,” he replies.

“Well unless you want your mouth ripped open, I suggest you keep it down.”

“Sorry,” he replies again as he places his hands on his chest and locks his fingers together.

“Now, open wide so we can have a look at what’s going on.” Frank obeying opens his mouth as wide as he can while the other man pokes and prods around in his mouth with various utensil, Frank grimaces in pain as he comes to the decaying mess that is his lower molars. “Well I can see why you’re in an immense amount of pain, you have an infection in your right second lower molar that’s spread to the first and third, we’ll have to do an x-ray of your mouth to have a better look, but the second molar will have to go, and by, the, looks of it, we may have to drill the third as there’s some discoloration and decay, but I’m hoping we should be able to save it.” He says as he leans back on his seat and motions to the nurse to prepare the x-ray machine.

“I don’t understand, I was only in here two weeks ago and you said everything was fine, shouldn’t you have seen this then?” Frank asks.

“You would expect so, but, if you just look over at this screen of the x-ray we took on the eighth, there was clearly no signs of any damage to any of those teeth, and now it’s as if they’ve been infected for months, which is why you’re in so much pain.”

The nurse readies the machine and gels up a mouth piece before sliding it into Frank’s mouth, “Now bite down on this and don’t release it until I say,” she says, Frank bites down and nods his head, wincing in pain as a heat wave of agony rips through the right side of his face. Seconds pass as the machine snaps away and Frank sits there in agony, finally relieved when she removes the machine and tells him to release his grip.

“Now let’s see what…..” the dentist words come to a sudden stop and his face goes white with horror.

“Is everything OK?” Frank asks nervously, the dentist sits there mortified, speechless, Frank launches himself out of the chair and comes to the dentist’s side and looks at the image before him. “That’s inside my mouth?” he says in panic.

“I-I’ve never seen anything like it in my life, I’ve been doing this for thirty-seven years and never, ever have I seen something like this,” the dentist says.

“Y-You’ve got to get them fucking out, you’ve got to get them fucking out NOW!” Frank says as he grabs the dentist by the shoulders.

“I don’t know, I d-don’t know if it will aggravate the situation and cause more damage, we need to make sure we know what we’re dealing with before we go pulling your teeth out and causing more problems.”

“I don’t give a good fucking god damn what you want to do, get them fucking out now, or so help me god I’ll do it myself!” Frank yells as he feels a burning shot of pain rip though his jaw and up the side of his face. “NOW!” he yells.

“Alright, alright, calm down, nurse give me ten milligrams of articaine, no, make it twenty,” the dentist orders.

“Fuck that, just pull the fucking teeth out, let’s not worry about pain-killers, I’m in enough pain as it is!” Frank yells as he leans back in the seat and opens his mouth. “Just get them fucking out!”

The dentist wipes his brow and grabs a pair of forceps, his hands shake uncontrollably as he sits there unmoving.

“Do it!’ Frank yells, as he opens his mouth wide again.

The dentist looks at the petrified nurse and nods his head, “Suction, please Miss Jones,” she nervously picks up the suction device and stands to Franks left as the dentist reaches the forceps in and grabs hold of one of the teeth, Frank screams with pain as the dentist pulls forcefully back on the forceps’, jerking it left and right as the tooth beings weaken. The sound like the popping of a champagne bottle can be heard as the tooth gives way and the Frank screams in agony as thousands of little spiders being spewing from his mouth.

    END

The challenge was a guy who has a tooth ache and rips his face off, I felt ripping his face off was a little to much of a direction and took it my own way, still think I scored with it.

She moves through the little shop slowly, taking her time to look over each of the items with old, experienced eyes, until finally she comes across one that grabs her attention. She picks up the small musical box and gives it the once over before she opens it, the box begins to play a soft little song and she places a hand on her chest and smiles.

“You, you are coming home with me today,” she says softly as she closes the lid and makes her way to the counter. The young man smiles as she places the musical box down and pulls out her purse.

“It’s a fine choice,” he says.

“It is,” she replies as she pulls out a hundred dollar note. “I’m sorry, this is the smallest I have…

  • Day 27 – Jupiter – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 27 – Jupiter – YouChallenge Short Story

I stand here like a total moron staring bewilderingly into her big green eyes trying to make words come out, but I can’t, I don’t know how to. I worked myself up so much for this that I really don’t know what to say or what to do, now that I’m here. Well, that’s a lie, I knew what I was going to say, what I was going to do, well sort of anyway, but when she uttered those words everything fell apart.

I guess you need to know what the hell is going on, I guess the best place to start is at the start, not right at the start, not that far back, I’ll just concentrate on today, I think that’s the best place to start.

I knew when the phone rang I shouldn’t have answered it, especially when I saw her name come up on the screen. Eight years and not a single call, text or letter, not once, and now suddenly a call out of the blue was unnerving. Anyway, she said she was in town and wanted to catch up for coffee, as we needed to talk, eight years and now she needed to talk? I mean I said yes, of course I did, she was the one that got away, the one that I let slip through my fingers. You see, she wanted to explore the world and I was happy doing the same thing every day, still am in fact, I just don’t have that bug, so one day she just up and left. No Dear John letter, no explanation, she just booked a ticket out of here and was gone from my life. It took me years to get over it, and I mean years, I still remember playing with the idea of chasing her around the world when she first took off, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, and I had no idea where she was. Fuck, honestly, I still have that hole in my stomach and now that I was walking down the street to sit and have coffee with her it’s getting worse, what was I going to say? What was she going to say? Should I have just said no, I really wasn’t in the right frame of mind for this, not today, actually any day would have been the same. It’s then that I started to think that maybe she had finally done all she wanted to in the world outside our small town and now wanted to come back home, to me. That made me even more nervous, I mean, I hadn’t changed at all in the last eight years, and she’s been out there experiencing the world. God she even had a weird sort of accent, then my stomach churned and I almost turned around when the coffee shop came into view, but I swallowed whatever it was stuck in my throat and I walked through the door, and there she was, as beautiful as she had ever been, and our eyes met, and she smiled, I smiled back and walked over and we hugged, it was amazing, I mean I almost cried, I just was suddenly an emotional wreck.

“You look great,” I said nervously.

“So do you,” she said, it’s then that I noticed someone else at the table, and my heart skipped a beat, “Jerry, I’d like you to meet our daughter, Annie.” She said, and my mouth dropped open as I stared into her big green eyes and stood there like a moron.

The song was Drops of Jupiter, I think somewhere in it all, I captured the song.

  • Day 20 – Dialla – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 20 – Dialla – YouChallenge Short Story

To say my brother and I have had an eventful life would be putting it bluntly, you could say it started when we first escaped our mother’s womb, nine weeks earlier than planned. For that we spent the next three months in the intensive care unit of the baby’s ward at St Alban Children’s Hospital. The next few years of our lives had us in and out of hospital for a range of things but as we got older, we became stronger, my brother Jesse would tell you differently, but that’s because he’s more of a jerk than me, of course it’s not his fault, it’s just the way it all turned out.

But if I was to put my finger on the one thing that really changed our lives it would be when the Fargans moved in next door when we were thirteen and we met Dialla. Mum being the major nosey parker she was, could not let their arrival go without sticking her nose in the front door and inviting us all over for a welcome to the neighbourhood meal. The Fargans, of course, wanted nothing more than to be left alone and settle in to their new home, but they learned quickly Mum is a stubborn woman, so they agreed to the dinner and Mum relentlessly went about creating dishes for the night.

Half their belongings still hadn’t been unpacked when we arrived for dinner, so Mum went about directing traffic and getting Mrs Fargans ready for the night ahead, and that’s when we first saw her, Dialla. Her name was just about as unusual as she was, but both Jesse and myself were smitten, she looked like she just walked out of playboy, and our teenage hormones could not control themselves. Dinner was a disaster, with Mum taking every opportunity to embarrass us, but Dialla just smiled and batted those beautiful eyelids at us the whole time. After dinner Mum and Mrs Fargans disappeared off into the kitchen, while Dad and Mister Fargans shared a beer and talked about football and cars, it seemed they had a lot in common and became quick friends. As the years went on Dad and Mister Fargans, or Uncle Trev, as we ended up calling him, opened a mechanic shop together and ended up making it pretty successful.

But it was what happened next that changed that whole night, Jesse and I were left to awkwardly talk with Dialla, who after five minutes of awkward silence asked us excitedly if we wanted to see something awesome down in the cellar. Jesse and I didn’t hesitate to say yes, you see, when the Millers lived here this was a creepy place, but at the same time it was awesome, I had my first and only feel of Kelly Miller’s boobs in that cellar and Jesse, well he got to feel something a bit lower down, that all happened the week before the Millers left so the memories were still fresh in our minds, and I have to be honest, I was instantly erect when she took us down. Dialla had set up her room down there and it was like a studio apartment, with a silk curtain separating the room off from her bed. To start with she got Jesse and I to sit down and then she kisses both of us, full lounge and all, it was amazing. I made a mental note to make sure that when I was to write my memoirs that this room would be considered my good luck charm. She then proceeded to do a little dance and what happened next I’ll never forget.

“So how far have you boys been with a girl?” She asked.

“All the way,” Jesse blurted out, I looked at him quickly knowing he was a lying sack of shit.

“What about you Bobby? You been all the way?” She asked as she leans in towards me, I could see right down her top and I felt my erect penis twitch with excitement.

“Umm sure, hasn’t everyone?” I replied nervously, she just laughed.

“You boys know there’s nothing wrong with being a virgin, don’t you?” she said laughing as she stepped behind the curtain. “Now, honestly, have you both been all the way with a girl?” She asked like a school teacher, we bother looked at the floor and said no in unison.

“I thought as much, well how about we change that,” she said, I came in my pants at that precise time, I’m pretty sure Jesse did as well, and she just laughed some more.

“Don’t worry boys, I’m still good,” she said as she came out from behind the curtain, both Jesse and my mouth’s dropped open, standing there was the most beautiful girl either of us had ever seen, and where it should have been nothing but hair, was a big, and when I say big, I mean huge, hard, penis. Jesse looked at me again and I could tell he was thinking the same thing I was, and we both ran home as fast as our legs could carry us.

It was pretty awkward for a while after that, it turned out that Dialla had a weird sense of humour and also enjoyed the occasional dress up, had we stayed around a bit longer or the light had of been better in the room, we would’ve realised it was a strap on dildo that she had on and not a real one. Of course we laughed about it, years later, and we got used to Dialla’s weird sense of humour, not to say it didn’t get us into a lot of trouble, because it did, and, eventually I even married the crazy woman, but I swear from that day on I never looked at playboy again.

    END

The challenge was 2 young kids find something in the neighbours basement, think I nailed it.

  • Day 13 – Short Cut – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 13 – Short Cut – YouChallenge Short Story

He pushes the bikes throttle to the maximum as he tears down the street, his heart thumping in his chest viciously as he rides more on instinct than awareness. The numbers displayed on the inside of his helmet continue to count down and he tries to push the bike harder, faster, but he knows he is too far behind the clock now, and he only has one option, he has to go left, through the Unclassed Zone. He slams the bike around the next corner and keeps the throttle down as he powers through the gates with a crash, the front wheel wobbles violently as he tries to regain control and that’s when he spots them, limbering towards him, and he closes his eyes tightly as he slams into them, they are thrown left and right as the bike goes crashing to the ground, and the rider rolls with the crash and quickly scrambles to his feet as more of them come from out of the darkness. He pulls out a metal rod and charges towards his still purring bike as one of the three he ran into lunges for him, he smashes it across the face with the rod, knocking it to the ground, and pulls his bike back up onto it’s two wheels…

  • Day 06 – The Final Request – YouChallenge Short Story

Day 06 – The Final Request – YouChallenge Short Story

The wind blows through the trees, scattering it’s leaves through the air with a ferociousness, sending them floating helplessly across the park.

Clive Foster tightens the grip on his jacket as the wind cuts through his clothing and forces a cold shiver through his body that sends his teeth into a violent clatter. With his free hand he grabs a handful of seed from the paper bag and throws it to the pigeons, who greedily gobble up as much as they can, keeping their distance, but not. He looks up, knowing before he sees her that she is close, her red jacket almost glows against the dullness of the day, and he lets himself smile. She smiles back and he stands to meet her, embracing each other in an intimate hug, speaking more about their feelings towards each other than words ever could.

“I didn’t think you’d come?” He says softly as they sit.

    “I almost didn’t.”

“I’m glad you did, your looking good, young.”

“That’s because I am, you look like I expected you to.”

    “What, old and haggard?”

“Something like that, so why contact me now after all these years, I didn’t think you wanted anything to do with me after Simon?”

“The past is what it is, I’m dying, cancer, it’s through my bones and working its way up to my brain, the doctors say I only have a few weeks at the most,” He says quickly, locking eye contact with her for a moment, then looking back towards the pigeons.

“It happens, it’s part of being mortal, something that can’t be escaped, but you could’ve told me this over the phone, why meet?”

“Isn’t it obvious? I’m scared, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to end up nothing.”

“It’s a bit late for that,” she says as she leans back on the bench. “So, is this really how it’s going to happen, is this you begging?”

“What?” He replies as he looks at her again, he feels parts of him twinge with life as he does, this woman, the only true love of his life, one he let go so long ago has not been touched by time like him, her beauty as it was when he first set eyes on her.

“Don’t play this game Clive, you know all you have to do is ask.”

    “Ask?”

“Ask for it, I told you years ago that’s all you needed to do, and I’m telling you now,” she says as she leans over and cuddles up to him. “Ask my love, ask and it will be.”

    “I’m scared.”

“Don’t be, I’ll be with you the whole way, and then, you will have peace, just ask,” she says as she holds him tighter.

He kisses her on the top of her head and they turn and face each other.

    “Forever?”

    “Forever,” she replies.

“Then do it, please,” he says, her eyes glimmer in the gloomy light and she bites down, into his throat, and he smiles as she remakes him.

    END

Someone asked me as a joke to write a story about an old man sitting on a park bench feeding pigeons. This made me decided that every Wednesday is a YouChallenge story, meaning I’ll write something based on a short idea from someone, anyone, no limit, no shyness, whatever is asked will be written. So here’s the first YouChallenge, enjoy.
